You're welcome! I didn't watch AW coming up so I never saw any of Iris during the original run. I was very anxious to at least see Carmen's Iris, especially after seeing how different she looked from Beverlee in pictures and reading about her Australian accent. I did a little research and made sure I was recording around the week she'd be showing up.

Seeing Maggie Smith and clips from her film, The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie, reminded me of an Afternoon TV article that "cast" soap actors in movie roles. I specifically remember the writer imagining Vicky Wyndham as Jean Brodie. I wish I could remember all the others!

Bob Hover, who played Russ Matthews in the early 70s, has died. He's the first Russ I remember clearly. The article only mentions Another World but I also remember him as Brian Ellison on As the World Turns in the mid-70s. I believe he appeared in a few other soaps too.

"Ladies TV World" - where did they come up with that one?

I've never really seen many photos of Hover but he does resemble Sam Groom. He didn't last long as Russ, only from July 71 till Dec 72.I suspect Rauch/Lemay weren't fans.

He later turned up in short term roles on ATWT,AMC in the 70's and EON in the 80's.

I think Lemay basically said in his book that Sam Groom's replacement was not good.

I have another interview with him from around this time, in Afternoon TV. Not sure if I ever posted it or not. If not I will when I find it again.

Hover did a lot of beefcake modeling earlier on.

I guess this magazine didn't last too long. It's too bad.

I chuckled when Coster was talking about people being fearful living in the Upper West Side and alluding to the racial / ethnic tensions. These subjects would never be broached in modern soap press.

I enjoyed Coster's interview. The Hover one didn't engage me as much. The Hover family just seemed too nice. Maybe that makes me an awful person. lol
