Members DRW50
Lucas was a mobster, yes. I didn't know Lucas's murder was a whodunit. Something which the show didn't mention very often was that Lucas was one of Sharlene's johns. http://www.igs.net/~awhp/1lucas.html
Members DRW50
I'm still going through June 91, which means I probably won't be done with most of the episodes before they're removed, but anyway, the one episode was just a bit bizarre, with Paulina telling Jake she was going to join a convent to get away from him, and then they actually show her and Jake outside the convent (although it looked more like a cemetery). The best part of the episode was Ada meeting up with Carl for the first time in years, and Carl trying to schmooze her. "The pleasure's all YOURS," says Ada. Love her. I can't imagine her being able to grasp the idea of Carl/Rachel, although if it made Rachel happy she would have gone along. The guy who is dating Amanda is kind of hot. For some reason he reminds me of someone who used to be in those soft porn movies on Cinemax. I am VERY annoyed when people stop by Cass and Kathleen's place to harangue Cass about how he could hurt Frankie. The smugness of Dean, who, for all his talk about Frankie, barely ever actually spends time with her and instead "helps" her by paying Kathleen's wages and berating Cass at random moments, is especially grating. The show has no one to argue Kathleen's point of view while Frankie gets to have Ryan there to hold her hand as she moans about how she wants to sell her house and isn't she sad. I was going to ask about Lorna. Did people in Bay City ever learn that she worked for Carl? And how did the show keep Lorna around after they made it pretty clear that she had no problem helping to plot Kathleen's murder? Was this ever brought up later on? Members teplin
I remember wishing Ada was still around at the beginning of the Carl-Rachel courtship, just so we could hear her read Rachel the riot act for even considering a romance with Carl. That would have been fun.
Members shadow
If memory serves me, AW did a nightime episode focused on the popular couples at that given time, Ryan/Vicki, Frankie/Cass, Jenna/Dean, and Jake/Paulina. Wasnt the two actors who played Jamie, Bekins and Yates gay? Edited October 10, 2010 by shadow

Members DRW50
From the August 13, 1985 SOD. S. O. D. Publishing Inc. Was this story any good? I am not a big fan of Nancy, from the little I've seen of her. Edited November 22, 2010 by CarlD2
Members Cat
Frankie as a character is just not growing on me. And I still can't buy Cass with her. Sorry, fans of quirk. With Kathleen leaving, it has kind of added a cloud of boringness to the show I am in November 91's episodes... I dread the day they pull these. Jake/Paulina. Jensen Buchanan's Vicky is starting to annoy me. Like she's pre-channeling Laura Wright's version of Carly Corinthos. I *love* Olivia Matthews and hope she hooks up with her physiotherapist.
Members DRW50
I would like Frankie more without her damn posse. At least they do make some effort not to demonize Kathleen. I liked that scene, mostly Julie Osburn's work in it, where Kathleen prayed for Frankie's health. I had a big WTF reaction when they went to Sassy's and the waitress mistook Kathleen for Frankie. Really??? The scenes where Jenna and Dean were alone right before the hilarious fake tree fell on them were some of the first with them that I've enjoyed. The moment where they almost kissed and then Dean was mean to her to push her away was great soap, and they had strong chemistry. I really wish Alla Korot had had better roles after AW. I skipped ahead to an episode from November so I could see Kathleen say goodbye. It was really tough to watch -- she is such a special character, the combo of strength and vulnerability which I love so much. Her last scenes with Cass were so sad. I'm glad they tried to show her moving on with her life. I also liked her goodbye with Felicia. That relationship seemed to be ignored for most of her return.
Members Cat
Are you talking about the Hallowe'en party episode? I loved that scene between her and Cass, though it was all too brief (I also thought her 20s flapper wig was very flattering -- it reminded me of her hair before she left the how the first time). It was so sad the way she said that there was no place for in Bay City anymore. And I know what you mean about the posse. Dean had a party to see him off to NY and Kathleen showed up (this was just before she was going to leave). Dean was all over Frankie "OMG, are you ok with her being here?!" You invited her, dick! Frankie replied with a heavy sigh that it was ok and Kathleen was leaving town anyway. Dean goes "Oh, that's very big of you, Frankie." BARF!
Members DRW50
No, it was sometime in November. Her last scenes were at Tops and then at the airport. They also used her to introduce Kevin to the show, which is an interesting idea, although a bit random.
Members Cat
I'm on the 11/21/91 episode right now which says that "Kathleen says good-bye to Bay City." Don't know if I want to see this. Jake and Paulina, just shag already!
Members DRW50
I know what you mean. I don't think I would have watched if the episodes weren't being taken down in about a week. I had to see it. I guess I will try to watch Sharlene's last episode too (in 1991 at least), although I have to say the show really sucked all the life out of her character. I forgot to mention that by the November episode they seemed to have finally found suitable wardrobe for Jensen's Marley and stopped dressing her in Anne's clothes. She looked cute in the outfit she was wearing while making wedding plans.
Members Soaplovers
I loved AW circa 1991/1992. It seemed to include every type of character that you could imagine but they weren't just character types, they seemed like flesh and blood. I haven't been able to watch the AW episodes on youtube but I was wondering if they focused on Jake/Kathleen's family relationship that much? I do remember one time when she stood up for Jake when he was being attacked but couldn't recall if they had any scenes together (she could have counseled him about Paulina/Marley, had helped him deal with his half-brother Kevin, and they could have paired her with someone else as well) Were they close when she was on in the 1980's?
Members DRW50
I haven't watched all of the 1991 episodes she's in but in the May and June episodes he tried to get her to help him get Marley back, comparing their situation to Kathleen/Cass. Kathleen refused, and told Marley that Jake was still plotting to get her back. After this Kathleen helped Cass get a job at D&M. I don't know if they were close in the 80s. You'd think they would be, but then Kathleen had her father and MJ there at that time and was busy with Cass.
Members Cat
OMG, Grant is such a dick! Now I get why they recasted the character. I still wish Dack Rambo were in the role, though -- he was so lovely to look at. Mark Pinter looks sinister. Vicky is not coming across much better in all this. Vicky and Ryan are each other's true loves, but I can see where this is going here... Grant manipulates the situation, Vicky gets attracted to all the wealth and political spotlight. Jake and Paulina are driving me crazy -- but in a good way. I had forgotten how effective soaps used to be about dragging out the romantic tension between couples who are hot for each other and don't want to admit it. What makes it funny is the fact that Jake & Paulina are pretending to be newlyweds and have to share a room together. I am so Team Olivia at the moment, even though Olivia is so obviously in the wrong. Amanda comes across as so smug and trifling. When Olivia accused her of using baby Allie to get Snorific Sam back, I couldn't help but agree. Biggest mystery of all, though, is why Olivia is still moping over that wet blanket Sam and not jumping her physiotherapy guy. Jenna & Dean = super cheesy but at least they are promoting safe sex. And they are hot together. RPG may annoy the [!@#$%^&*] out of me (and did he really date Yasmine Bleeth? I thought he was gay) but he brings out the best in Alla Korot.
