Members Contessa Donatella
Thanks for this. Now, in this last line, do you mean discreet or indiscreet?
Members Xanthe
I meant discreet. That is if the actresses were living together but did not want to admit it, saying that they simply happened to find it convenient to be picked up at the same location would provide cover. But equally in the absence of other evidence they could just be colleagues who lived in the same part of Manhattan who found it convenient to be picked up in front of Augie's.
Members Xanthe
Madison! I struggled so hard with the link that I didn't notice the typo here and now I can't edit the post. Please register in order to view this content
Members teplin
Indeed. I think the show had some wonderful and charismatic Black performers through the years, in roles all the way from Peggy Nolan through to the Burrells. They were just never very well served by the show. Edited January 29 by teplin
Members Contessa Donatella
Honest to god, I knew you knew how to spell Madison. It's biblical! Typos shall always be with us. Sure, even in NYC they could have needed "cover". I get it.

Members Efulton
I thought the black characters were well written, interesting and prominent from 1982-86. In 1986 Thomasina, Carter, Grant II and Lily were written out but it looked like things were promising for Quinn with the introduction of Zack Edwards and his family. Then Quinn was killed (do not get me started!) in 1987 and Zack and his romances (Ronnie, Courtney) were never front and centre and he eventually left in 1990. It wasn't until 1997 with the introduction of Toni Burrell that black characters were prominent again. The show was a mess from 1995-99 but there were interesting black characters those last couple of years - Chris, Rita, Toni, Etta Mae, Tyrone and then KC during the last few months. Members DRW50
Thanks @chrisml . These are juicier excerpts than I had expected. I wonder who the affair might involve. I also wonder if this is why she was written out after a year (then again AW had huge turnover at this time - maybe everyone kept finding out about the affair).
Members Mona Kane Croft
The affair may have been David Bailey. Not sure who the actress may have been. The younger man -- who knows? AW had lots of young men in the cast at that point.

Members AbcNbc247
Interesting. Agreed, that the male actor that was having an affair was most likely David Bailey. Maybe the younger actress was Janice Lynde. As for the cute young actor who was about 10 years younger, I know Richard Bekins is gay, but he’s about 10 years older younger than Tina Sloan lol then again, so was Ray Liotta. Members Mona Kane Croft
Also, there were two or three younger men always hanging around the pool at Miranda Bishop's house. I believe they were all contract actors. And Ric Halloway, who married Marianne Randolph. Unless I have my timing wrong.
Members Xanthe
There seemed to be an unfortunate amount of turnover in the black cast during 1982-1984 although we had several excellent actors and more than one or two castmembers at any given time. But having a variety of adult characters with assorted relationships was very pleasant for a few years. It was a bit depressing to me after Roy and Henrietta and then Lily left and we were limited to one young couple plus one man and one woman from the older generation. Quinn didn't have much to do after Thomasina got married and Grant died. And her relationship with Zack was so brief that it felt to me as if it was put forward only to give the Sin Stalker an excuse to (unreasonably) consider her a slut.
