But, what if she accepted the increased duties, b/c the rest of the Bell family did not want to see that position in the hands of another outsider?

The CBS press release said her EP duties were to take on the "story end" of the show. I don't know how that's too different from being the show's HW.

I also bet she doesn't want to same crap to happen to her that happened to her under Griffith, so she became Co-EP to keep creative story control and to keep the show stronger tied to her family's control.

I think there's a reason why she stopped writing for soaps for like 20 years and then came back to help out during the strike. Daytime was never her passion, but she knew her family's show needed helping, so she stepped up. But really over time, I'm getting more confused with her writing ability.

And no, we're not talking about Tom Casiello. We have to clarify for those who accuse many of us constantly of being his cheerleaders.

It would have to be a storyteller with a lot of experience.

My dream would be to steal Patrick Mulcahey from B&B and pair him with Natalie Minardi Slater. I know Pat is a passionate storyteller, but it's only a dream, and I heard a lot of crap went down when Pat was Co-HW of GL briefly after the Curlee era that probably made him never want to go down that road again.

Anyway, in my dream scenario, Pat would be the storyteller and Natalie would be the one helping him with the history and the character's motivations and unique traits.

I do not want another Latham, or another Alden/Smith for that matter either.

I think you're really hard with her. I mean, Y&R is so much better than it was during LML's era, it is so much better than the rest of daytime. Sure everything's not perfect but I think that complaining about her is not a good thing for daytime now. We should embrace the good points of her writing.

Too bad it would never happen.

I've heard, from a very good friend, Pat quit GL in 1994 because CBS/P&G wouldn't allow him to go full throttle with Bridget and David's romantic relationship. I know Nancy Curlee admitted to wanting to pair them earlier and said in her interview with us that the network wouldn't allow her, but I heard Pat had poured a great deal into developing that storyline in 1994, only for it to be nixed, and he quit. I can't imagine him being a HW again in this current daytime climate.

I think MAB is doing fine, certainly better than any other HW in daytime currently.

I really only have three bitches as far as her Y&R is concerned:

-The writing for the Winters sucks

-I need some of the women to be a bit stronger

-Some characters are becoming overexposed (but thats not even a big gripe, I just think she could scale back on a few).

For a dialogue writer, Mulcahey was heavily invovled with storylines at SB, GL, and GH.

For instance, Nancy Curlee said he helped craft a good portion of Buzz Cooper's introduction into Springfield.

He was also instrumental to Carly's creation on GH.

Nancy Curlee told us, "Patrick was a soul mate, loved all of the same stuff Stephen and I did. He was especially good at the Cooper family stories, and Buzz Cooper in particular. He had such a great way of turning a story slightly askew and telling it from a very specific vantage point you might not have considered before. I think Buzz Cooper was his baby, and I loved what he did with that."

Hell, it would be a dream come true of Curlee herself ever made a daytime return, but I know that's definitely out of the picture.

I watch GSN late night every night for 2 hours usually. They show The 100,000 Pyramid, $25,000 Pyramid, Family Feud (Dawson Version) and 60's episodes of the show Password.

Anyway the $25,000 Pyramid's celebrity guests for the next 5 days or so are Jackée Harry and Terry Lester (Original Jack on Y&R)!!!!

    • Yeah, I don't really love Felicity being used to push the Chad/Cat agenda.  I don't get the question on Xander's behavior either.  He was wrong and offensive. I like Xander.  I think Paul Telfer is great.  If Marlena did the same thing I would say she's wrong too.  Characters are imperfect and that's fine.
    • Vanessa told Joey that her best friend had cheated and has a surprise daughter.  Joey said the same had happened to him.  I wasn't sure if Joey was saying he has an adult out-of-wedlock child?
    • Interesting. I definitely think that it's possible that Jan could be a former lover of Joey's from back in the day, maybe back when he was still married. I won't be surprised if it comes out at some point that Jan used to be an escort or something.
    • Quick question, How are you guys making time to watch all these soaps? I consider myself a pretty organized person, but since I have committed to watching more of the older soaps. I feel all over the place, and can not figure out a schedule that seems to work.  How are you all doing it?   Thanks. I will check that out.
    • Oh, poor Henry had to wait for the grave to finally come "out"! The whole things was McTavish plot dictated so that Hart could have money to pull off his scam of Roger later. The fortune is totally forgotten later. Which reminds me WHY did they fire Hilliard who actually could kinda pass for a midwestern farm boy..from JOISEY Grillo? AM and Lucy's wedding has got to be the weirdest wedding up to that point and really exemplified the McLaiby cheesy run. Universal Studios? And the Spauldings shut the place down for the wedding that only involves 6 people??? Its not even that weird that Bridget and David arent there...they didn't even invite AM's Mom or Grandfather...
    • It seems easy to be empathic that if a random man raised his voice to me at the mall today, I would not be appeased if he later went and apologized to my sister. I like giving the character more to do, because there is a value in representing a person with a congenital disorder being employed, given that the unemployment rate in that community tops 83%.  I just hope they find a voice for the character that matches her functioning ability.  As for Cat, I wonder if she is going to inherit any of Clyde's money?  And that was the reason for the phone call.  I know he's not dead, but he could have named her family as the beneficiary of some insurance policy if he were to be incapacitated.  And the call could have been an attorney trying to reach her to give her money.
    • Oh you may have been watching the Teresa/Tom storyline...or "Terry the tumor" as she was called.
    • Are these new?! Damn, he is in the prime of his life.
    • He is a 40 year old large grown man "raising his voice" and calling a teenage girl "careless".  That's inappropriate.  I am not going to argue at the octave of his voice although I would consider it yelling.  Felicity was visibly upset.  She also has special needs, but it would be wrong to do that to anyone in general.  Xander was out of line.  He didn't immediately apologize or admit he was wrong until Princess Sarah was okay.  Idk, go find your wife's epipen instead of berating a young girl.  Or, you know, Sarah could have asked if there was any pistachio in her scone as a pre-caution.  That's how most people with allergies that severe order things. I do think this story or plot point is silly, but acting like Xander did nothing wrong is just strange.  Even if Felicity DID do something wrong was he just going to continue to go on and on while his wife was going into shock?  That's the proper reaction lol.
