She worked OK as the bitch rival but to try and turn her into the lead heroine was not on.A perfect example of pushing a character that has no connection to the core-something Maria Bellerina isn't doing.

It was almost like they were trying to make her the next Nikki,right down to the stripping.

However,I need support for some Bobby hate -I thought he was Grade A sleaze-anyone agree??

Lauren's known Sharon for years.

She just wanted an excuse to be self righteous about Eden.

Knowing her and being a friend who should care about why are two very different things.

On an OT note -- I wish I had Ashley's walk-in closet. I do like the haunting story, I'm just worried that they are making (A) Ash look bad for blaming a hired employee (Estella) and that (B ) Adam is the culprit. I mean, it is clear that it is him, right?

Re: Lauren not questionning Sharon's motives for stealing. All Lauren has been hearing is what a manipulative wench Sharon is -- IOW, Phyllis's side of the story. That is all she is seeing: Phyllis's Sharon. As for the stealing, I think she just assumes that Sharon purposely set Eden up with the stolen books in order to break up Eden & Noah, and that the stolen Fenmore stuff was part of Sharon's plan to further discredit the teen.

1. Yes! I never liked Brittany, but she was fine to me as the "teen-bitch obstacle" for Mac. It was clear to me they were trying to make another "Lauren" (since Lauren had been Traci's Brittany), but the actress wasn't up for it. When Jack Smith gave in to his infatuation for her and made her his front-burner female...it was the clearest sign that the show was off the rails.

My eye socket and ear drums will never recover from that party at the Abbotts' pool, when she grabbed the microphone and sang "The Girl from Ipanema", trying to seduce Sean Bridges away from Jill. The fact that some of you are probably saying "who? Sean Bridges?" shows how far the show had drifted at that point.

2. Maria Bellerina...or maybe Maria Bellarena...I just love that more than anything. That may be my new name for her...I'm stealing it. It sounds great.

3. So, I initially loathed Bobby. Like you said, greasy hair...sleaze. I must confessed, I got biased by pictures of him in his younger days, when he used to wash his hair. He was once very beautiful. (If you want to see, let me know, and I'll put it in the soaphunks thread).

My regard for him switched, solely, in that [ a ] he was the one "strong man" I thought could stand up to Victor Newman and confront Victor at HIS level -- i.e., streetfighter, and that, coupled with his [ b ] decent chemistry with Melody Thomas-Scott made me think that THAT could have made a decent triangle where Victor had a legitimate rival.

It would also be such a nice contrast...since it would be a pull between Nikki's roots (Bobby, the working class, her ties to the Cassein family) and her adult life (mistress of the manor). [They could do a similar conflict with Paul and Victor to some extent...but the writers seem uninterested).

Bobby, though, plain and simple, lost his b*lls when he got involved with Brittany. I had zero interest for the milquetoast, sensitive man he became with her. When he was not with Brittany, he was a singular presence on Y&R. Like Wartman, he was a voice from the other side of the tracks, and Y&R needed a bit of that.

It is interesting, on Y&R, that there have been some of these "working class" types who have captured the public imagination, precisely because they offered such a nice contrast to the rest of the town (Veleka Gray's manicurist during the Patty Williams days; Dorothy and Wayne Stevens; Wartman; Bobby; Cassie's adoptive mother Alice). There is always room for a bit of that.

I am really hoping there is a twist here...that SOMEONE ELSE is gaslighting Ashley (e.g., Mary Jane). I fear every day we will lose Adam, when what I WANT to see is his "Hope's heart" triumph, and his redemption arc.

I am reminded that Christian Leblanc got sent away for several years (Michael in prison), and has since returned as the hero of the show. So, I guess they could do the same for Chris Engen...but I'd rather not go that dark with him.

I think she's not THINKING about Sharon's motivations. I think there are two EMOTIONAL drivers of Lauren's behavior: [ a ] Fiercely protective mother hen, where Eden is concerned, and [ b ] Fiercely protective BFF where Phyllis is concerned. That's all it takes. Lauren isn't being sanctimonious...she is righteously p!ssed.

Also, I feel that she's also a little ticked that Eden asked her to drop the charges FOR NOAH. The feminist in her doesn't like seeing this young girl do something "for her man", and since it is Sharon's precious boy who is at the root of this (no pun intended)--'cause she's not that happy that they're schtupping--that's another source of irritation.

See, that is why I love Bregman. I'm pretty sure I saw all that subtext in her portrayal.

I thought I was the only one who hated Bobby. Talk about an unpopular opinion. I didn't think he was that good of a character, that good of actor, or that good looking. What was his purpose? That whole mess was lame. Leave the mob in Port Charles.

I disagree. The moment Adam redeems himself, the moment be becomes as dull and boring as Michael and Kevin have been. This soap needs another villain. And they can't be crazy or lame as Gloria. They have to be as bitter, vindictive, and cunning as Jill, Victor, and Jack.

So, I really hope Adam is behind this. He's wreaking havoc but not breaking the law. The writers would get it right if they went in this direction, IMO.

It wasn't the looks I liked about Nikki & Bobby, it was the easy, flirtatious chemistry. They really clicked on the screen. MTS lit up and they had banter going on. And he really romanced her in a very tender way.

The writing and Lauren Woodland's snotty portrayal made me crazy. Basically as soon as a soap "heroine" does pole dancing, it shows that writers are really desperate. One of the oldest stories by the books and this was a trademark for all involving Miss Twittany.

IMHO, They need to take Adam full on darkside. They can redeem it, with years of story and work...

I just rewatched Monday's Adam-Heather bedscenes (being sick at home will do that you). As Heather lovingly stroked his face, she said:

"Deep down, I know you're a good person, someone I want to get to know all over again, okay?"

That's a story I want to see. I want to see him tortured over his darkness...maybe he can't stop himself from being Ruthless (Victor side), but he can certainly agonize over it while doing it (Hope side).

I want Heather to continue to pull out his Hope side. Not as a sap or a sanctimonious b!tch. But to keep offering him love and support...and draw him to the light.

They both come from such a wounded place of father abandonment, and rising by their own merits--from working class to ivy league schools. I really want to see this be a healing relationship.

Honestly, I'd like to see one healing relationship on daytime, and I honestly believe Heather could be that for Adam. (I'll get killed for this, but I believe Phyllis was a healing relationship for Nick, and that is part of the reason I love that couple so much. I also think, in many ways, Lauren and Michael were a healing relationship for one another--especially Michael).
