ALL MY CHILDREN

Alex and Anna are twins!Bianca is gay!And that Libidozone-we want some!

There were plenty of big stories and big payoffs in 2000.AMC has a cast to die for,and this year, many of them did their best work.Though some stories were clunkers, for the most part, life in Pine Valley was engaging and interesting again, causing us to question the reliability of the Nielson ratings system.

Josh Duhamel's Leo has chemistry with everyone, including the new pet on the canvas,Happy.

David went fromErica to Dixie.Gillian went from Ryan to Jake to Ryan to Jake to Ryan.Adam had Liza, then Arlene, then Liza again.

The only Pine Valley residentwho had areally bad year was Edmund. He lost his girl to his brother ,then lost his mind.

2000 was SOO schizo for AMC It was the year Agnes Nixon, after coming back very late 1999, started off basically writing full time and then soon was sharing writing duties with Elizabeth Page and then Jean Passanante. By the Summer or maybe earlier it seemed we'd have stories liek the amazingly well done Bianca stuff--which Agnes clearly did--some great character stuff that was reminescent of old AMC like Marian's social climbing desires to get invited to a party with the Queen and Adam (it sounds lame but was wonderful social comedy) and then disasters like libidizone. I still find it bizarre that Agnes allowed that story while she was co HW (she came to the show of course to put it back on track after Megan McT's disastrous second stint.

Nixon created Greenlee and Leon and all that in 99 I think originally she thought Greenlee would be to Becca kinda be what Erica was to super good girl Tara. Unfortunately in that respect Nixon was wrong--the time for angelic heroines like Tara/Becca had passed I think--but Greenlee and Leo became pretyt great.

Even Anna/Alex started under Nixon and had some potential--although as much as I LOVE the actress I felt she played both roles the same. Under passanante with Dogboy (her son? nephew?) etc it became a confusing mess of awfulness--made worse becuase of Dmitri's firing.

Ironically Agnes couldn;'t handle writing a soap full time and when she left and Passanate took over the show IMHo became even somehow worse than it was under MCTavish in 97-99. very sad, yet Agnes gave us enough great great stuff there to make me oevrall pleased with the year...

Me too.

But Farah is pretty much the star of OLTL; Kirsten is half of one of GH's most fan faved couples; Jason gets an episode a month on GH, lol; Nadia & Jay are both starring on days - in separate storylines no less; and Kyle is currently the star of B&B.

True. I guess it all depends on when you start watching the show. Who knows, maybe if I tried watching DAYS now, I would like it.. lol But if it's still heavily Sami's DAYS, then I don't think so.. lol

And yeah, it's amazing how all of DAYS 2000 Teens are still on soaps. Unlike Y&R 2000 Teens. And I loved Y&R teens much more... David Lago, Ash Bashiom, David Tom, Alexis Thorpe... even Lauren W.... and the only one I didn't like (Thad L.) is still there...

I'm sorry, I meant that 2001 was the last good year for me :) [and yeah, Matt/Tricia ROCKED. And there is no doubt in my mind that it was all Bill Bell's doing. I don't believe for a moment that KA would be capable of creating such storylines]

2002 started good, but when Ed Scott stepped down, the show started to get unrecognizable for me.

Yeah, 2002. was def less fun than 2000/2001. But 2002. is when I was LOVING Days... Sami and Austin's Vegas wedding, Nicole and Austin's short friendship or whatever you wanna call it, Baby Switch ending, Stefano's will.. Brash and Cwikly were great. Too bad they couldn't stay.

My fave days scene ever is austin leaving sami at the alter.

i wish i could find a youtube clip of her faling to the floor in her amazing elvis-esq wedding dress. it was so over the top, it was far too much, yet it was so 100% sami brady and days of our lives. that ish was perfection. it was also the climax of years and years and years - at least 5 - of her lies and schemes coming out like they never had before. girl lost EVERYTHING.

I know. Finally the ENTIRE truth was out.

Oh and I remember when photos of Sami in a wedding dress came out... She was so HOT! I loved her look.

Too bad I despise Sami now and I couldn't care less what happens to her now. :P:D

Nope, shes not.

Shes had a few tears, but nothing more than the normal women on soaps. And when she does now its not all over the top. Its rather reserved, like Will lashed out at her and she had tears and was crying, but wasnt sobbing. She has shed a few over her baby drama, but thats about it. Its really nice. lol.

    • Cheryl was gone before Lemay came back but I agree with your thinking that he would rather a character from a family he introduced to the show than a family he did not originate.  I remember reading somewhere in the early 90's probably after DS left as writer, their was an either a writer or a producer who made a comment that their intent was bring the McKinnon family back to AW.  Would have made sense for the newer viewers from the 80's.  Much like Lemay's attempt to bring the Frames back from his writing in the 70's in his 1988 return
    • DePriest left in January 1988. According to the AWHP, Rose last appeared nearly a year before in February 1987 while both Sara and Peggy appeared as late as October 1987.
    • Annie was not brought in as an antagonist for Reva. Reva wasn’t even on the canvas when Annie first appeared in late 1994.
    • The speculation……….very entertaining.
    • I had forgotten that several Days stars came out strong against Melissa. Good for them!
    • That would have made sense. Did all these characters get dropped when DePriest left or had they already been dropped?
    • The other issue with Missy: in June 2020, she "liked" some social media posts by Candace Owens -- things Candace said that were against Black Lives Matter.  That is described here https://tvline.com/news/melissa-reeves-racism-days-of-our-lives-instagram-controversy-2894568/ I don't know if that was ever resolved.
    • She appeared onscreen not long after Rose Livingston and Sara Montaigne, and we found out that Sara was Rose's estranged daughter. I wonder whether Peggy might have been part of that family group -- or else they were just juggling a few different potential mysteries so that they could develop whatever seemed to be getting the best response from the audience. They didn't do anything much with Rose and Sara really either. Maybe Rose would have become more prominent if Rachel and Mac had split up over Mitch, or if Sara had really flourished. In some ways I can picture Cheryl being affected by MJ's prostitution similarly to how Josie was distressed by finding out about Sharlene. But I can also see that Josie as a Frame being involved with Matthew would have different stakes for Rachel and Sharlene than Cheryl being involved with Scott. I do think the solution for Cheryl would have had to be a badder boy than Scott -- either a real bad boy who would do her wrong, or the kind of bad boy (not Chad!!!) who is essentially misunderstood and other people just don't understand. Cheryl would also have been better off with some friends her own age. Matthew and Josie benefited a bit from having other teenagers to interact with.
    • Sally Spencer was a decent actress, but the writing destroyed the "M.J." that Kathleen Layman had built. Layman had a quiet strength about her, and she and Osburn really felt like sisters. Spencer's character should have been either an unmentioned sister, or maybe Jake's that grew up close to Kathleen, M.J. and the rest, but was away for a few years before joining the force. Kristen Marie was o.k., but I always got a mousier vibe from her. Being pigeon-holed with Scott for most of the run hurt things for her, as well.  The Loves were also underserved between Rhonda Lewin and Philece Sampler. Philece would have been better as Nicole. Thank goodness Anne Heche  showed up for the next round of auditions. Christopher Holder was mediocre as Peter, but given a shot, I think Marcus Smythe could have stuck around for a while.  I would have had Peggy Lazarus be a Frame -- possibly an ex-wife for Vince with an agenda. Smythe and Hollen had  a fun chemistry that could have kept the two around.. Bringing recasts for  Cheryl and Ben back mixing it up with other Frames. Corys, Lawrences at the time might have kept all the families stronger.
