The biggest issue with the mob is this - they have made them heroes. they have takena way any negative impace. remember when because of sonnys lifestyle, lily was blowen up? when robin would talk about sonny she would proclaim he was one of the greatest men she knew - because he really was -- but she would then follow it up with how he is also one of the worst. the lifestyle they lead use to cause damage. the actions use to have reactions. now they dont. and the few that do happen happen to the people around them and sonny/jason save the day and never feel the damage they have caused. Sonny and Jason and blaming the 2nd gunman instead of themselves for putting that boy in their mob life. Instead of Michael being permanently comatose, one year later he is waking up to ease their guilty conscience. What a surprise. Not. I will never understand how GH got turned on its head with the "mob is good" mantra. Sonny used to hate being in the mob, ashamed even. They are writing by the skin of their teeth! Like, the final shot on the current opening? Half the male characters featured there are DEAD. Not just written off the show but slaughtered to the point where they can never, ever come back. Murdered for Sweeps or Mini-Sweeps or February Sweeps or April Sweeps or whatever the hell they call it now. And given the Recurring Fever we have heard about in the past few weeks, I am betting that in another two months, those last 15 seconds of the "Men of GH" will become even more obsolete. Only Benard, Geary, Burton will be left standing. The "shock & awe" writing is SO short-sighted. And the "Somebody Dies!" headlines on the cover of SOD... the shots of you-know-who weilding guns like cowboys.. it has desensitized me as much as it has TIIC. What's the point? The deaths on this show are meaningless now. On other soaps, they mean something. They power new SLs and performances, they signal a turning point. On GH, it's the same-old, same-old. And as for SLs.. there aren't any REAL storylines. Every plot point is just an excuse to prop up or pimp Sonny and Jason and Claudia and whoever else is Flavor of the Month. It's like "Focus groups say that Sonny is just a sleazy mobster, Jason his soulless enforcer and Carly a one-note shrew. How can we get them to fell sorry for those three? I know! We'll have Sonny's 11-year old adopted son shot in the head! And Claudia, who arranged the shooting, we'll have her visit the boy's coma every day and boohoo about her abused, rotten childhood in order to get the audience to feel sorry for her, too!" I like the conference room though I don't know the point since every conversation is eavesdropped on. LOL! I also love the upstairs. It means that people will be spying on each other from up high which should make for some nice sweeping camera work. I like that it has a second level/staircase, and that there are lots of corridors and little rooms off of the corridors...it looks like a REAL hospital and I think this is going to be a really good set for GH...it would be better if the show actually had hospital related stories, but still it's really nice! I just hope GH continues to update their sets to fit with the HD thing and maybe step out of the brown and beige that everyone in Port Chuck decorates their homes/offices/restaurants/hotels with... It does seem more similar to the AW hospital set, and the fact that they made a point of saying they can shoot with cameras WITHIN the set (as opposed to outside the set) makes all the difference.
