Of course it does, almost everyone's under 40.

I would attempt a rebuttal, but I know you're already racing across the board looking for popular opinions to go against so you can keep your indie cred. Wiiiilllld Reeeebellllssss!!!

GH will rise, but it will only rise to a new maximum increase. It is a slippery slope and it gets lower every month. Each year the "high bar" for GH gets smaller and smaller.

You know what, though, I realize I have basically done what Jack accuses me of. And I'm not necessarily trying to say he's wrong about me. But I don't think I'm wrong about him either. If I went and got a dozen people and we all decided hey, we like DOOL, started postin' about it, I guarantee you that suddenly Jack would be sippin' the Haterade. "I dunno, its so over, I'm over it" Swerve! Another JackPeyton special.

I will say this: I think in three to six months I will reevaluate DOOL's standing, and see if my crackpot theory has been borne out or not. Hopefully the baby stories will be done then, and we'll see where it stands. I believe it will be sinking again. If I am wrong, I will come back and lick Jack's boots. And Jack will look bored and disaffected.

I think Days is just one of those old fashioned soaps that people are enjoying right now. It doesn't make people insane with hate/love/disappointment like OLTL does. And I think most of all it caters to a younger, not particularly picky audience. Dena writes middle of the road, basic, plotty soap opera. That's the kindest thing I can say about that "writer". Maybe she has hit her stride. Days is getting viewers who didn't watch 5, 10 years ago. They don't care about Marlena. And maybe some of those people who tuned in for John and Marlena's farewell actually enjoyed the show despite their leaving and stuck around. I hate saying any of this because there is no one who deserves these ratings less than Corday and Higley. Maybe the show is just watchable.

I'm not saying DAYS is great, or utterly groundbreaking or anything. However, I've been catching it more frequently on SoapNet lately, and for the first time in a long time, the show appears to have at least one solid vision guiding it. It's not perfect, it's far from it, but it's consistent in some way. They've been milking their main storyline for dramatic effect, and not in a very rushed or lazy way.

Good job Days...I think the current storytelling is very reminiscent of the JER era, especially this baby switch storyline...Obviously Days has a lot of fans that like these stories that lead up to huge reveals...The Nicole storyline is clearly carrying the show right now...and while some don't like it, the Chloe, Lucas, Daniel, and Kate storyline seems to be getting viewers to tune in as well..

I think if that new consistency can be put on anyone it may be *gasp* Gary Tomlin, who aside from some major mistakes, managed to keep OLTL reasonably on-track through the strike. Chris Whitesell, however, has been [!@#$%^&*] for years.

I agree it seems to be just so-so, but that can't last, especially with almost no veteran cast. And there's no passion behind the work to me. You can't just keep flogging EJ, Sami, and former DAYS teen idols and expect to stay afloat. You need a clear picture of the future. To me they just seem to be looking to next week.

That lead is called EJ, Sami, Bo and Hope, and a passel of babies. They can only keep flogging that for so long. Plus their usual "ratings cushion" that both Michael and I mentioned. But how far did that get them during the Sheffer era or last year, or JER 2?

Tomlin is a much better fit for DAYS than Ed Scott or Hogan Sheffer ever were. The general DAYS audience doesn't seem to like the type of drama the latter two can bring to the table. Tomlin, on the other hand, is right up the DAYS alley and has always been that way. I don't know why Corday didn't pick him over Scott when he had the chance to do so in 2007.

The OC was always more of a media darling than a ratings grabber. Then the second season was horrible and people stopped caring.

Ed Scott is seen as a get because of his Y&R years, but Y&R is a totally different beast than most of the other soaps. Even John Conboy, who was Y&R's main producer for years, I don't think he's ever been a success elsewhere (Capitol was mixed at best and his GL run was disastrous).

I think it helps DAYS that they have the right mix of supporting characters. Maggie and Victor and those types of characters have not been leads in a long time, but they work as midlevel supporting players who add to the character of their scenes. You don't get that with Marlena and John because there's always that unspoken tension about who is the lead player in the scene and about their days as the show's stars.

Don't you think the success of the Biggest Loser may also be bringing viewers in?

    • I'm anticipating most of the cast at the Nice location for a few weeks a la the Tuscan villa for Victoria and Ashland's wedding. I don't know why they bother. I'd rather see the money going into more regular home/office sets. This party has been a bust. No secrets revealed, break ups  etc. Ugly decorations and I'm going to slam the costuming again. Just the guests heaping praise on  Nikki  like she's achieved some magnificent milestone rather than just getting a year older.

In the loving arms of his wife, Dr. Marlena Evans, John took his last breath at the end of the June 2 episode, after suffering devastating internal injuries during a lab explosion. The iconic character went out as he lived — a hero. Sensing the fans’ devastation on Monday, Marlena’s portrayer Deidre Hall posted this simple-but-powerful message to fans on Instagram: “I know. I know. Hardest day ever.”

    • Now coming into June...well...   I knew it was coming but I didn't like the start to the next round of Dani/Bill/Hayley. As the 3 A plots from the start of the show (The SilkPress storyline and Martin's Secret being the other two), it needed to be benched for a while to develop those characters and allow other characters and storylines to grow. 3 months in, Hayley is the weak link, Dani is still divisive, but not boring, and Bill has been making his mark with some plots faster than others. So last week seeing the story starting to loop back around to them with Hayley's potential pregnancy, I honestly had mixed feelings.   I get it. The SilkPress storyline is currently in aftermath/next turn mode, so it has to be moved into a C plot position. Moreso if we want to keep the very talented Miss Trish around. And I love how clever the writers are being with the storyline. They give us enough in the episodes and are still playing out beats to keep the appetite fed. I don't feel like anyone is being dumbed down to keep her around. And Trish is giving nuances in her alone scenes with NuTed. I shouldn't care for a clear psycho, but she be selling it. That said...I wish they had given us a little more of the Martin's Secret storyline in the last week of the month though I loved the game of cat and mouse Bill did on Martin and Smitty to keep the storyline alive and active after it had a nice build beginning of May and vanished for a week mid-May. And it appears like it's about to go back to the backburner as an A plot which of course leaves the A plot of Dani/Bill/Hayley.   I am probably in the minority as someone who is not anti-Dani here and even she annoyed the heck out of me last week. In character true, but I just felt like there was a way to get all of that across without it feeling like...as I've said before...one step forward, two steps back...and have it feel organic. I liked Hayley got a little bit of edge with her, but she still ain't no match for Dani. And it reminds to be seen if we should be going back to that well of a story yet.   Now about today's show...   And I thought Tracy was bad! lol. But YES. Sharon has been worth the wait. And so has Anita's story! Finally having TT in the limelight. This has been a nice slow burn for me and a nice B plot. And the actress is good. The wig is giving. And her holding what Anita's secret is over her head and threatening to tell Vernon....Ooooo...that is what I was waiting for.    And speaking of bad...I thought Eva vs Kat was a great rivalry. But I am loving the rivalry that is growing with 'Nancy Drew' and Silk Press Sheila! They both get good licks in and are so cunning with each other. And I definitely have liked that since the anniversary party, that it has been growing. Now that Kat has been proven right, she has not backed down. And neither has SilkPress. And we got a 'Ms. B@tch' moment, too? LOVE. Eva coming up with a trump card was delicious and so 90s Sami Brady. GOOD. And the coda with Jacob and the expert...YES. The Silk Press storyline has been the best paced on the show so I love that the aftermath of the anniversary party continues to be so...barring one flaw...well for me. Not enough Nicole's POV.   And I like the C plots on display. And by that, I mean Chelsea with Vernon. And it made me wonder what the writers have plan for her love life now that the throuple is over with. I was watching her and going awww.   And of course the mystery man around Martin. I am starting to wonder if he really even works at the country club given how he made a run for it. That would be a twist.    Speaking of Martin...good to see him in scenes with his father and mother.    I'm getting used to NuTed.    I felt the last episode of May was a bit of a letdown, but this was a very nice recovery.
    • Unless they cut him, I'd think he would stay. Surely, he didn't choose to return because he expected high quality. I figure he gets to work when he wants and spend a lot of time doing his own thing and being with his family.
    • The writing for Liz and Lucky is indeed terrible, but if JJ signed a one-year contract he may be gone in a couple of months anyway. Perhaps they’re just cutting their losses.
    • That would be his older sister Stacey. She was the center of a big story back in the day. Nola was out to snag medical student Kelly Nelson, who she thought would provide her with the life she craved. He was in love with a girl named Morgan. Nola plotted to get pregnant by him, but couldn't manage to get him in bed. So she seduced Floyd, who thought she was in love with him. When she knew she was pregnant, she got Kelly drunk and made sure he woke up next to her in bed. Kelly believed her when she told him he made her pregnant. They were about to elope to Las Vegas, but her mother ratted her out and Kelly abandoned her. She almost married Floyd, but jilted him at the altar. She went to work for Quint. When the baby came prematurely, Kelly saved both of them. She named the baby Kelly Louise to irk Morgan, who was now married to Kelly. When she fell in love with Quint, she had a change of heart over all the trouble she had caused, so she changed the baby's name to Anastasia Louise, shortened to Stacey. Quint was a devoted stepfather and Henry treated her like his own granddaughter.  After Quint and Nola leave SF, I believe Stacey is never seen again. Which is odd, you would think they would have brought her back with Nola and J, but they never did.
