Members Vee
And let me just explain my crackpot theory why DAYS only looks alive: Familiarity. DAYS still has its name recognition which draws people. It's always had that even when it's horrible. People turn it on because they don't know better. Same thing kept GH afloat for a long time, because of the 3 PM timeslot. But it failed GH and soon it will fail DAYS too, probably when those baby bombs drop. DAYS has nothing to build on after. Members BlueLick
Awful ratings week for soaps except DAYS. This is probably one of the worst ratings weeks ever for CBS Daytime. Stability is key for OLTL right now and its getting that and I think even though the quality of the show has been through the roof, its going to take sometime for it to reflect in the ratings. NBC has to be really happy about the huge turn around for DAYS and they made the right decision in renewing and all it needs now is a compatible soap to lead-out of it. Its the only soap since 2007 to really show an increase in its ratings during the past year on a consistent basis. I am so disappointed with every other soap's ratings performance especially since they've been watchable for the most part during this odd sweeps period. B&B are you kidding me? This show is very watchable right now but what's bringing it down? Y&R has been incredible as it had a cold streak back in February and picked it up back up with the Kevin/Kay storyline. I hope I can see those local ratings as they seem to be the only good news for soaps' ratings now in days.

Members MichaelGL
You stole my DAYS theory right out from under me. I see no difference between what GH has done in the past few years, to now what DAYS is doing.
Members Y&RWorldTurner
We'll see how CBS and does with a full week's worth of episodes next week. As for GH, you never know with that show. It has the ability to constantly recover.
Members rangethatrover
We know that Ruckston, all of the ABC shows suck ratingswise, and more importantly- demowise- its just the fact that GH is the lowest ranked ABC show that is so funny (in a sick way). GH's ratings were so far ahead of AMC and OLTL for half a decade its kind of shocking.
Members DRW50
OLTL is the unloved child of the ABC soaps. To see it outrate GH, which has had so much attention and money thrown its way, is hilarious. I just hope they aren't going to take the wrong lessons from their recent ratings. Why do I have these pictures of Frons saying, "Yes! America loves Stacy!! Viki sucks!!!!!" The all gimmicks all the time format is one which is longterm, somewhat depressing to get through, and is not bringing out the best in some of their less talented cast like Trevor St John and Kristen Alderson. BTW, I don't think Grant should have stayed away from GL. His return is one of their bright spots, and they're finally redressing the horrible exit they gave him. I think it's some of the other stories which probably drive viewers away. As for GH, I really believe the more they show Spinelli and his sidekick, the lower the ratings go. Bringing back dreadful Natalia Livingston doesn't help.
Members rangethatrover
Sadly true. It always rises like the phoenix. And I have to agree with some of the Days theory- Some shows are synonymous with soaps. Days and GH are those shows. Even when they suck. People just watch them. Its like people who call tissues "Kleenex". I can only think that if Days is making money with these ratings, the network will not hesitate to cut more highly paid actors/or salaries during the next contract negotiation. Days could survive another 3-4 years if NBC/Corday makes enough money. They now know they can cut anyone and survive. But if your theory is right- i guess things could go either way. I get the feeling that the viewers are actually enjoying Days.
Members JackPeyton
well it sure as hell LOOKS more alive than OLTL... Days has had a steady upswing/holding steady for months in the ratings now. Sure its dropped from time to time but it bounces back and gets better ratings than it did before it dropped. So i dont think its simple as people dont know better. Something is KEEPING them watching and has more people tuning in and watching. As for the boms dropping, days has several current bombs to drop - the daniel/chloe affair. the babyswap isnt just one bomb either - they have nicole swapping kids, the fact that nicole never had a baby, the fact that one is mias, the fact that ej is the father of samis, and then there is always who is the father of Mia's baby to add to it. Furthermore they also have the building war between Stefano & Victor and all the people in the middle. By the time these boms drop and the story plays out they will have other things going. In the past few months Days has changed the way it tells a story. And its working. They feature an A story with two B storylines per episode and thats it. The A & B storys change episode to episode. There is the community feeling Days has gotten again. The slower pace and smaller cast has worked for days. everyone was calling for it to drop below GL when they fired MBE, SN, DH, and DH.. yet it hasnt fallen at all, inf act its gone UP. and it keeps going UP. and again, even when it does drop it bounces back the next week. But then again none of this wall matter to you. You will just write it off, make a personal attack, and blab on about how ratings dont equal quality. Members MikeGoldy
DAYS is going to keep who they think is worth the money. Certainly 12 years ago, Drake and Dee were worth the money they were making. But in 2009, they just weren't. It's the nature of soaps.
Members Angela
DAYS at this point is a solid 3rd, Y&R, B&B solid 1 and 2 and GL a solid 8th. The middle of the pack is completely incestuous at this point (AMC, OLTL, GH, ATWT), the tiny difference in viewers. Maybe it's been like this for a long time, but I feel it's stood out more in the past several weeks. Wk. of March 16 4. AMC 2,699,000 (+35,000) 5. OLTL 2,664,000 (+18,000) 6. GH 2,646,000 7. ATWT 2,532,000 <--- lower than usual Wk. of March 9 3. GH 2,747,000 4. DAYS 2,698,000 (+14,000) <--- unusual dip 5. OLTL 2,684,000 (+4,000) 6. ATWT 2,680,000 (+62,000) 7. AMC 2,618,000 Wk. of March 2 4. AMC 2,700,000 (+15,000) 5. GH 2,685,000 (+11,000) 6. ATWT 2,674,000 (+41,000) 7. OLTL 2,633,
