I have mixed feelings. I want GL to post big numbers for their sake and the sake of soap opera, but the Natalia and Olivia story is so wrong on so many levels. I do not want it to be rewarded.

I think we have gotten into the habit for some anyway just to want a gay story that they throw out all reasoning just to get it. It is the same with the Luke/Noah story there are so many things wrong with it on so many levels. I am thankful for it but I cannot praise it because there are so many things wrong. And unless AMC starts doing better with the Bianca/Reese story it is falling into that category too.

I just can't get behind one until they do it right.

Their dealing drugs on OLTL and its got me interested again to make a full commitment to taping each episode. Starr's dad Todd continues to be the most crazed man in the soaps right now.

Y&R has made the soap opera genre respectable again with its ratings so here's hoping to a big rating on MLK Day last week.

B&B is the one soap where you're ready to take a break from it, they just suck you in as that s/l with Rick was amazing during that week.

DAYS had the goodbye for John & Marlena so expect some swells in viewership there.

GH had the hospital sickness s/l so they should be up too.

The ratings that's the most important will be GL as we move closer to Edmund and Phillip making an impact on the show.

Look out for Monday's ratings as that was MLK Day.

I think the Olivia/Natalia story is or has the potential to be the most organic gay love story I have seen on an American soap. Their relationship has slowly changed over the course of a year, both women have changed, and both characters have been strengthened by the relationship. If properly told, it's everything a soap romance should be, and if it's not a romance, it's everything a soap friendship should be. They have such a bond which I have never seen with Reese and Bianca. Either way, I think GL has improved from where it has been the past few years and I'm hoping for an increase, although I'm not expecting one.

I'm wondering if AMC lost any viewers when they realized what a pointless stunt Josh's death was or if AMC is bottomed out.

The Tarty tedium has run its course, I'm looking forward to seeing whether OLTL will have any change, up or down, thanks to David's return and the sharper writing for Jessica's struggles.

My guess is a modest gain for GH - nothing for AMC or OLTL, I have been predicting OLTL to fall to a 1.9 for weeks, and I stand by that. (Even though I don't want it to happen)

Y&R probably at a 3.9 for the week...

Days will probably have a 2.3. This is the one soap that surprises me with its moderately healthy ratings. I cannot wait to see what the ratings reflect over the next month. Its nice that one soap can jump so much. I still have no desire to watch anything Dena Higley writes.

I have to agree that B&B was quite watchable last week. I enjoy any storyline on B&B involving fashion. Despite the absolute worst acting on television. I can see B&B getting a .1 or .2 rise..

Well I know it won't have anything to do with these ratings and may not even next week, but yesterday's last few segments of GH was one of the best directed segments I have seen all year. All the overshots of each person's faces as Kate moved toward the meeting room and Patrick running up the stairs and so many other faces was wonderfully put together.

Just had to throw that out there while it was on my mind.

    • They've talked about having staff at the Dupree house, like Rowena the chef. I just don't think we've seen them.
    • Really an excellent point. I'm worried about Derek but he's not working. The Duprees being too good somehow ... well, if they say it instead of be it, okay yes, I would worry but as long as they keep on being good, geeze, that's something to celebrate, not worry!!!  Party on?!
    • I blame Mitch.

    • I agree. For now. I am sure in a year's time...a new family (or old) will start to appear on the show.
    • There's some irony in Philip being forgiven, because it forces everyone to admit that Victor was wrong to change his will.  Everyone, eventually including Xander, (I presume), seems to think it was wrong for Victor to divide his estate in Xander's favor.  I appreciated Stephanie forgiving Philip, because she's got no skin in that game.  But, Belle's line about Philip missing Xander because he misses Bo did not ring true.  I think Philip would be sad if Bo dies, but I think he's more concerned currently about Xander. I am enjoying this EJ mystery so much that I am hereby taking a vow not to read spoilers.  I am also vowing — for the last time — to stop harping on this, but: the concept of a “sepsis treatment” remains absurd. Hospitals prevent sepsis through vigilant infection control; once sepsis sets in, it causes multiple organ failures. Treatment involves supporting each failing organ individually. The notion that a single medication could magically reverse organ failure is medically laughable. However, I like the contrast of Kim going through cancer, which is incurable in their universe.  Kayla's comment on the health of both of her siblings was both heartbreaking and an interesting twist.  MBE is also totally underrated.  She is carrying the weight of so many stories.   And, I like the use of Kayla as an audience surrogate.  She's arguably the most "real" person in Salem. Kayla isn't psychic, she wasn't SORASed, she's not a billionaire, and she doesn't have a bionic eye.  So, I enjoy that we get her perspective of the nuttiness that surrounds her. However, I don't get what gives her the authority to turn down EJ's offer.  I understand that they need a hospital figurehead to show us scenes of the competition to buy the hospital.  But, unless the entire administration has been let go, the Chief of Staff wouldn't make those choices.
    • But why worry about something that might not happen? Right now, most things revolve around the Duprees. We have no idea if or how long that will continue. For now, it's working.
    • The Duprees not having any staff is a bugbear for me. They've included the background staff at the Country Club but no one at the Dupree home. Even just an extra bringing in a tray of food/drinks or responding to a request from Anita would suffice.
    • Shut up, Dante and Lois.  I actually don't mind this particular soap trope, but in the context of this storyline, it just feels forced and unnecessary. If anything, this Dante/Gio tension needed to begin months ago. Plus, this storyline, in general, isn't doing Lois any favors either.  Emma comforting Gio was really sweet though. It's definitely time for the two of them to have their first kiss. And, Joss playing Secret Agent Barbie will just never work.
