Well, me, obviously, for B&B. To restore balance, pace, fashion and romance to the show. I want it to be the best that it can be.

Failing that, Richard and Esther Shapiro (Dynasty's creators, EPs and HWs). I think B&B would be right up their street. Bradley Bell to EP.

For GH, I think Claire Labine and Karen Harris as co-HWs would be a great team. Keeping a lot of the current dialogue writers in place, with Patrick Mulcahey back and possibly Bridget Dobson in a consulting role. Wendy Riche to EP.

Days should have Toups as JER's heir and Sheri Anderson in some writing capacity, because nobody does romance like her. I'm also wondering whether I would give Tom Casiello another stab at the show here. He does love Days so.

Y&R and OLTL already have good teams in place, IMO. With OLTL, it is the network interference and directives from on high which contribute to problems.

I'm over Stefano and his many siblings and his half this, half that. Stefano needs to be restored as the take no prisoners son of a b!tch he was in the 80s. As for Mickey, he died when John Clarke retired. You don't recast someone who played a role for nearly 40 years- if the person wants to retire, then you retire the damn character. John Ingle was NOT Mickey, and Kevin Dobson certainly isn't.

AMEN to Mickey. As for the Koz, sorry, but the character of Kate used to be fiesty, multi-dimensional, and have some class. When Koslow took over, she became a total shrew from day one. She hasn't reverted back since. Koslow plays Kate one-note. And it's flat.

Oh, and CAT FOR PREZ OF CBS DAYTIME!!!!

LOL, much as I *ADORE* the power rush at the very idea of being CBS prez, I could never do it because I only watch the Bell shows on CBS and it wouldn't be fair to the P&G soaps who need a lot of TLC right now.

DES, I am always available for BtH! But I thought it was going to be an evening soap on F/X? That way you wouldn't be hamstrung by network interference about content.

GL:

The obit writer at the New York Times?

Seriously, I will say that there are, for the first time in awhile, some threads that a new writer could pick up on and attempt to turn the show around. As much as I find Natalia a waste of space and Olivia a used-up character, a story about two woman confronting doubts about their sexuality, especially after all the horrible heterosexual relationships Olivia has had in the past, could be fascinating if done well and with maturity and sensitivity.

We have Billy and Vanessa in each other's orbit again. Write a grand, slow-boiling reunion story for them. I'd even bring back Hope Bauer and add her and Alan into the mix, which would bring some humanity back into the old fuddy-duddy Spaulding. But beyond anything, I would stay away from any business stories. Not only do they NOT work well with the new format, but GL hasn't done business well since Jenna and Roger's takeover of Spaulding in 1993.

Phillip's returning, so write a good romantic story for him. Maybe with Beth? Use this story to explain why Beth has been acting the way she has for years and use it to respectfully delve into the roots of Phillip's psyche without turning him into some cartoon. The man has always had psychological issues. He married a woman and named his daughter the same name as his mother, or who he thought was his mother. Come on now! Delve into that! Focus on Phillip attempting to salvage his relationship with his children.

Use Rick in a meaningful story. Personally, I would give my left arm if it would bring back Peter Simon. Just the presence that man has will inject heart and soul into the show just like when he returned in 2002. The effect was IMMEDIATE.

Get rid of all the rest of the flotsam and jetsom like Cyrus, Grady, Daisy, Rafe, Ashlee, Doris, Jeffrey. Put the couples that have really sparked back together: Dinah and Mallet, Reva and Josh.

Use the reintroduction of Shayne to begin a young love story with Marina and show the couple as they transition between young sweethearts to serious couple. Bring back Marah with a talented actress and use her as a parallel to the old Reva character -- sexy, sweet, gold-digging, but with a heart of gold.

Use Blake as a pot-boiler but not as some cougar ready to pounce on everything with a penis. Certainly Blake used to be that way, but I maintain that her relationship with Ross changed that and matured her. Even without him, I disagree that she would just simply revert back to old habits. (And she certainly wouldn't stalk people.) Bring back Holly and give her a mother. Meanwhile, Holly finally gets to move on from Roger with a serious relationship with Ed.

God, there is just so much potential with the old girl if someone just gave it the time and a bit more dinero to polish it.

Oh don't worry. I have. I schedule my days around Y&R right now. It's the closest thing to perfection I've seen in YEARS. :)

I'd do the same for that show, but right now, I'd much prefer to see what MAB has up her sleeve.

    • This is wonderful! Thank you for posting this! I loved the first two seasons and never got to see the final season when they cancelled the DVD release. I've been hoping this popped up on streaming but no luck. Happy I'll finally get to see how it ended!

    • In case it is of interest to anyone here, I have digital copies (computer files, mp4 etc.) of all of the episodes. And, besides having the files they are all up on my usual video hosting site, acct name: shallotpeel, channel it is in: Primetime Soaps and file names like  Flamingo Road S1E15 Hurricane Flamingo Road was a primetime soap on NBC by Lorimar Productions. 2 seasons. 1980-1982. Morgan Fairchild, Barbara Rush. Developed by Rita Lakin.
    • Arguably DAYS OF OUR LIVES has been brilliant lately & definitely was last week. But, here I am with nitpick & technicalities. This was the only misstep but it was just a stupid thing that should have been caught. Deidre Hall as Marlena has this one problematic line, "It didn't matter how many identities you had, I always knew exactly who you were, you were the man who saved my life." - Marlena, DAYS, 6-2-25 Unfortunately the flashback closest to it was when Marlena was on the phone, terrified because she thought he was Stefano. Yes, it's true that the line is not accurate. There were many times when she did not feel the way she is claiming because of whatever was going on in story with his 'retconned to hell & back' identity & origin story. Does it keep the whole week from being called excellent? Nope.

    • I decided this primetime soap deserved it's own thread as the Primetime soaps thread is very cluttered and why shouldn't NBC's Lorimar soap mot have a chance to shine? In doing a deeper dive into the second season ratings I was surprised to see that FR actually had an uptick in the ratings when NBC moved it to 9pm Tuesdays beginning March 82. I'd always assumed this move was a desperate one as NBC were running short of programming and had given up on the show, deciding to let the final episodes play out and be hammered by 3's Company  and CBS Movie. But the numbers paint a different story. In it's 10pm slot up against Hart to Hart, which regularly finished in the Top 20, FL premiered in 53rd place and placed in the 40's and 50's as the season continued. But come January 82 the numbers surged a little now moving into the 40's hitting #43 in Feb. Hart to Hart was #11 Then in March Bret Maverick was moved to 8pm with FR @9. First week 16th March FR #47 15.1/24 3's Company #3 Too Close for Comfort #5 CBS Movie #60 Not great but #2 in it's timeslot March 23 FR #44 15.6/25 3's Company #4 Too Close for Comfort #5 CBS Movie #33 So even with a stronger movie on CBS FR's numbers went up. March 30 FR #31 16.6/26 3's Company #9 Too Close for Comfort #5 CBS Movie #56 Best rating/position yet Tues April 6 pre empted Tues April 14 FR #36 16.0/26 3's Company #5 Too Close for Comfort #11 CBS Movie #59 Maintaining previous week's numbers Tues April 21 FR #33 15.6/24 3's Company #3 Too Close for Comfort #5 CBS Movie #60 Numbers down a little (reflecting general spring downturn) but best ranking of the season so far Tues April 28 FR #35 15.1/23 3's Company #9 Too Close for Comfort #6 CBS Movie #42 Tues May 4 FR #27 15.2/24 3's Company #5 Too Close for Comfort #4 CBS Movie #41 Season finale and highest position of the season. Looking at those numbers I wonder why NBC cancelled the show? They had very few hits and here was a show that was holding it's own and moving up in the rankings in a tougher timeslot. And being a serial, the storylines could continue to build the following season. And I'm sure the desirable W18-49 demo was good. Some might argue that CBS were shower weaker movies, but even so, soap viewers are pretty loyal. I guess Grant Tinker arrived at NBC and wanted a classier look but there was room for FR on the schedule. I mean, the following season Knight Rider,Powers of Matthew Star and the A Team arrived so there was still room for more populist fare. Flamingo could have stayed at 9pm-the replacement Gavilan bombed (surely FR would have done better} or moved back to 10pm. The following Jan NBC had a hit with A Team Tues 8pm. Had Flamingo followed it, it might have really taken off. As it was they tried Bare Essence, which flopped. Oh well,it was not to be...
    • Always, in every way, Cass/Wally/Felicia foundational to my viewing. And, I think if we look at the aftermath of the disastrous 90 minute show that we find too many pockets of some kind of lost time at the show plus way too much of change-ups in exec & writing leadership and of course we also reach the first time it becomes notable that NBC wants to get rid of the show so they can put a new soap they own in the timeslot.
