Members cct
I've been waiting a while to post this, because AMC is MY soap. If Pratt has improved AMC, it's been ever so slightly. The two things Pratt has done for AMC: 1. Balanced the canvas. 2. Injected juice. I didn't need the tornadoes, certainly not three of them, but metaphorically they worked. (execution wise, the '94 tornado was the best). The fallout hasn't been much from the actual tornadoes, if you think of it, save Krystal/JR/David. The juice comes from the increased pacing, which also brings me to the two worst things Pratt has done for AMC: 1. Played scenes off canvas or skipped beats. 2. Created fake-out cliffhangers that are wearing thin. In reference to #1, I'm not even referring to the fact that Bianca met Reese and Zack helped them father a child. I'm referring to the fact that David says hello to Crazy Annie at Wildwind and in the next scene, David's on the floor and Annie's no where to be found. I'm referring to the fact that someone stabbed Lucci and suddenly she's in a hospital bed all recovered and no one talks about what happened! I'm referring to the fact that one minute Amanda wants the money to get JR and the next minute she cares for him. (Which in essence is great drama, but it's played minute by minute, i.e. skipped beats) I'm referring to the fact that Jesse and Rebecca built a freakin' LIFE together and other than some reminsicing from Natalia with UPSed ornaments, Jesse acts like he barely knows her. And did I miss when Frankie suddenly decided to accept all this and lay off his father? Musta been Randi's Wonder Cooch, because no one has referred to that either. The only thing that seems to playing all the beats and scenes is Taylor/Jake/Brot, and the other day, even that storyline had me thinking what the hell because there was a fake cliffhanger 1. Brot falls in the hospital. Fade out Friday. Fade in Monday. Brot's checking out. 2. Krystal goes careening off the Wildwind driveway and hits something. Fade out Friday. Fade in Monday. Krystal is wrapped in a blanket on the sofa telling Opal she's getting over the flu. 3. Jesse encounters Natalia in the hall and says what the hell are you doing here. Fade out Friday. Fade in Monday. Jesse and Angie are talking at the hospital; never mind Natalia in the hall. 4. Annie has blood and guts hanging from a hunting knife in her crazy bridal dress at ConFusion. Erica lies artfully in a pool of blood in the bathroom. Fade out Friday. Fade in Monday. Annie's being checked in and we don't see Erica nor hear about it for almost a WEEK! And the worst offender?? Annie jumps off the balcony of the "tippy-top" "penthouse" floor (to quote Friday's ep). Fade out Friday. Fade in Monday. Greenlee rushes to the balcony, looks over the edge, whips around and says to Ryan, "She made it." McTavish-Dark and Twisty B&E-Sextet happy and boring Pratt-B.S. Jerking of my Chain Ever so slightly, all I'm sayin'.
Members MichaelGL
AMC isn't amazing, but it's good. Pratt still has his weak points. I hate how almost everyone in town seems to have an agenda. It reminds me of his days on GH. He's done nothing really to ameliorate the problem that is Rylee. Instead he's made a little worser. I also hate the 360 he's done with Annie, but it's been pretty damn entertaining though. And really WTF is going on with Aidan? He has a couple of characters that are like out there doing nothing at the moment too. i.e. Aidan. I gotta credit Pratt with doing the impossible, he's made me like a Carey. I never thought I'd say that.
Members Steve
I agree with a lot of what was already said, especially by SteveFrame, cct & Kylie. Pratt has improved the show considerably from the mess that McT and B&E created. The returns of David & Bianca have re-energized AMC. David's feud with the Martins and Chandlers brought back some much-needed conflict that won't be resolved quickly like Greenlee/Kendall under B&E. I'm so glad Pratt has taken Krystal out of Adam's orbit; their pairing never worked for me and it was getting boring to watch them constantly go back and forth. Adam finally has his backbone back & his bickering with Erica is entertaining even though I don't like them as a couple. Erica has also reverted to her true self and is once again fun to watch. Annie's psychosis was a storyline Pratt inherited from B&E and imo he's improved upon it by addressing the fact that Ryan & Greenlee drove her there. B&E had Kendall getting in Annie's face about her sanity instead of dealing with what led to her breakdown. I'm grateful to Pratt for putting Kendall into a coma so we didn't have to hear her pimping Rylee all the time, too. I don't mind Zach siring Bianca's child because to me it is completely in character for the man who married his son's ex-girlfriend out of spite. Yes, he should have told Kendall and imo that responsibility was his instead of her sister's since he was living with Kendall and seeing her every day. Now, instead of dreading seeing Kendall again due to her harping, I can't wait to see what happens when she finds out the truth! Sure, the show is far from perfect. Taylor/Brot are too isolated from the rest of the cast, Randi and Colby need to be recast if their characters are going to stick around, and there are too many scenes we didn't get to see like Erica being stabbed and the aftermath Krystal's accident. For the most part, though, it is a huge improvement over anything written by B&E and McT.
Members JackPeyton
how has there been MORE under him? and if by pimping her in death you mean using the death of someone that JR & Krystal loved as long term storyline then you are correct. Because honestly, aside from them no one is really sad shes dead. No one props her up. I love the tango those two are doing. SOD says so? WOW! They must be right. They dont ever cater to fanbases or anything. Just report cold hard facts and truths! What some may say ruined i say Bianca has become intersting and complex and human now that she has shed her perfect fairy wings. Rylee is a frons mandate. we all know that. Members All My Shadows
Oh, silly JP, don't you know? A woman's husband and mother and son mourning her death is propping. Duh! No one does that in real life!

Members JackPeyton
i have a super random question/thought.. where did the term "dont drink the kool-aid" come from? is it the peoples temple and jonestown? where those people all drank that koolaid that was tainted and they died? Members All My Shadows
I'm not completely sure where the Kool Aid stuff started. I always assumed that it meant that Kool Aid is something that everyone enjoys, even though it's easy to slip something in it, and so when someone is "drinkin the Kool Aid," it means that they're just taking what the show gives them, without questioning what's really behind it. I don't know, maybe that's a far-fetched explanation, but that's always what I just figured, subconsciously.
Members Steve
I'm about 95% sure that's where it comes from since the cult members drank the poison Kool-Aid and died.
