December 17, 200816 yr Author Administrator That Days plane crash episode was damn good soap opera. I think a lot of people forget Days was doing quite well earlier this year with Ed Scott and no Dena. DAYS was good for January and February, but went downhill afterwards. 2 out of 12 months is a pretty bad year. Noel Maxam should win this year's Director's Guild award for the plane crash episode and DAYS should win Best Directing at the 2009 Emmys.
December 17, 200816 yr Member I agree with much of his best list. I think Peter Bergmann would have been a better choice for best actor. I think Y&R is head and shoulders better than ReRon's crap. As far as the DOOL plane crash, it was good. I think the Y&R car wreck was better, but I guess he can't give everything to Y&R. I also thought a lot of the NuJohn story was good on DOOL. I also agree with Bruce Weitz on GH. I'm so glad that he mentioned Jesse/Angie. I thought that was the best return in a very very long time, and it was done well. December 17, 200816 yr Member I see he hasn't lost his hard-on for Melody Thomas Scott. Sorry MTS fans, but he's been kissing her ass for years. And it's getting annoying.
December 17, 200816 yr Member Alley Mills gave some of the worst performances I have ever seen- granted, she was made to wipe honey all over a woman and have a bear eat her- but she was awful. I love a comedic villian, but she was awful. Shelia would've done something crazy like that, but I think love for Kimberlin Brown would've carried over to the crappy stunts. I can't think of anybody else on the B&B canvas that would even do something like that, or in their current state anyway. Edited December 17, 200816 yr by bandbfan
December 17, 200816 yr Member Great list. I agree with all of them. Esp. love that Bruce Weitz and Peggy McCay got some love. They have been on my list of best performances for 2008 for like 5 months now and have not fallen off the list like some have. So glad to see someone agree. It is a hard choice for me on Y&R and OLTL for Best Show - so when either are named I am fine.
December 17, 200816 yr Member I think you're thinking of Michael Bruno, the agent. You are correct. Sorry, Michael Logan!
December 18, 200816 yr Member BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS Days of Our Lives' Peggy McCay huh? really?....
December 19, 200816 yr Member What the heck are the Man/Woman of the year awards for? I don't really mind Logan naming Y&R his best soap since it was my 2nd best for the year - OLTL just had more better months (OLTL had 8 good months; Y&R had 5) than Y&R. I like MOY/WOY awards because there are so many soap actors and most of them will never get recognized. And the truth is, many of the actors' appeal has nothing to do with acting (Drake). I was surprised at Peggy's win. i don't watch DOOL but her plastic surgery leaves me cold. i would give best supporting actress to Jess Walton.

This is what the fourth time he's cited Melody, and when he does, MTS always has the material to back it up (1994, 2004, 2007, now 2008). The Emmy's never seem to get it right, so I'm glad one soap columnist can at least recognize the excellent work Melody does.

I'm all for honoring vets, and as superficial as it may sound but I agree on Peggy. Like Lesli Charleson and Jacklyn Zeman, as much as I value their work as actresses, it's hard for me to take them seriously with all the plastic surgery. It was the same thing with JVA as Gloria too (but eventually she came around).
