Administrator Toups Posted December 17, 2008 Author Administrator Share Posted December 17, 2008 DAYS was good for January and February, but went downhill afterwards. 2 out of 12 months is a pretty bad year. Noel Maxam should win this year's Director's Guild award for the plane crash episode and DAYS should win Best Directing at the 2009 Emmys.
Members Jess
I agree with much of his best list. I think Peter Bergmann would have been a better choice for best actor. I think Y&R is head and shoulders better than ReRon's crap. As far as the DOOL plane crash, it was good. I think the Y&R car wreck was better, but I guess he can't give everything to Y&R. I also thought a lot of the NuJohn story was good on DOOL. I also agree with Bruce Weitz on GH. I'm so glad that he mentioned Jesse/Angie. I thought that was the best return in a very very long time, and it was done well.
Members Jonathan
I see he hasn't lost his hard-on for Melody Thomas Scott. Sorry MTS fans, but he's been kissing her ass for years. And it's getting annoying.
Members bandbfan
Shelia would've done something crazy like that, but I think love for Kimberlin Brown would've carried over to the crappy stunts. I can't think of anybody else on the B&B canvas that would even do something like that, or in their current state anyway.
Members SteveFrame
Great list. I agree with all of them. Esp. love that Bruce Weitz and Peggy McCay got some love. They have been on my list of best performances for 2008 for like 5 months now and have not fallen off the list like some have. So glad to see someone agree. It is a hard choice for me on Y&R and OLTL for Best Show - so when either are named I am fine.

Members Cashton
I like MOY/WOY awards because there are so many soap actors and most of them will never get recognized. And the truth is, many of the actors' appeal has nothing to do with acting (Drake). I was surprised at Peggy's win. i don't watch DOOL but her plastic surgery leaves me cold. i would give best supporting actress to Jess Walton. Members MichaelGL
C'mon OLTL didn't get best of anything? I find that hard to swallow.
Members dragonflies
He's starting to remind me of Nelson Branco, especially with all the butt kissing
Members MTSRocks
What are you talking about? This is what the fourth time he's cited Melody, and when he does, MTS always has the material to back it up (1994, 2004, 2007, now 2008). The Emmy's never seem to get it right, so I'm glad one soap columnist can at least recognize the excellent work Melody does.
Members MTSRocks
I'm all for honoring vets, and as superficial as it may sound but I agree on Peggy. Like Lesli Charleson and Jacklyn Zeman, as much as I value their work as actresses, it's hard for me to take them seriously with all the plastic surgery. It was the same thing with JVA as Gloria too (but eventually she came around).
