Y&R: Actors Out?

Here's the link......

They attributed it to SOD but didn't say if it was in an upcoming issue or on SOD's website. I checked earlier and just now and it isn't mentioned on SOD's website under Breaking News.....

The only breath about any of these actors in this week's Digest is a rumor that Gross would soon be out. And since I DOUBT that Digest leaks any of their scoops in upcoming issues to competing news outlets, I have my doubts about this. I'll believe it when I see it in print.

But if this is true, getting rid of Engen and Bloom is a big mistake. I can think of one Aussie and two talentless young females who should get the boot before them.

^Thanks for the update, Dan.

I thought it was pretty weird news too, since I haven't seen it anywhere and I knew SOD reported NOTHING on Engen and Bloom leaving.

Chris Engen is WONDERFUL and if I was MAB or PR I'd backburn him and pay him his guarantee for a while, he's a real find. Excellent actor, the best newbie male Y&R has had in years.

Michael Gross, loved him on Family Ties, hated him on Y&R. What a stupid, stupid character. So long Lowell!

Agree on both statements!!

Now DC has removed any mention of this "news" coming from SOD.......

I am a little upset about Adam! The rest, not at all.

Is anybody starting to think that there may be a BIG return coming or something?

Between Don and these 3 they probably just saved nearly a million dollars per year.... which obviously great for the budget..but this is Y&R!!!

Hmmmmmmmm....

Awww, I like Heather and Adam. He's the better actor but I mostly like them because I'm fairly certain I could fit them in my pocket. They're like gnome people.

As for Lowell/River/WTF, I truly wish Michael's parents had never been introduced.

I used to love that gnome show when I was little!

This is all still a bit fishy. I don't care about River, but why developing such a story only to have him out? Well, whatever... he can go.

But why Adam and Heather? Adam had a great storyline since he came on, and there are million of possibilities for this character and Heather.

There is still a little bit of hope that they'll stay.

While I'm not a big fan of B&B picking people up, they really should have Adam move to LA. Bridget, Donna, and Felicia, need someone cute they can chase after.

Great news. I only wish they would add Eden to the list. River has been a complete waste of time, Heather was worthless and brought nothing to the table besides being Paul's daughter, Adam had potential but the writers totally ruined him with that nonsense with Jack.

Well CE is def a wonderful hot looking actor. But really both Heather and Adam havent really caught on as a couple or indidvidual characters IMO. The cast has become really large, so peeps will have to go.

I think they will probably be gone by March sweeps 09

It would clearly be a mistake to let Chris Engen get away. I agree with those that have said he's the best new young male actor on the show in ages. Plus there is so much story for them to still explore with the character. I'd like to see Adam turn on Jack for a lesser sentence and stick around. I love the way CE came in and fit so flawlessly onto the canvas.

I enjoy Vail Bloom but honestly Heather is not a character I would miss. They haven't really fleshed her out enough to make me care about her.

As far as Michael Gross, I really won't miss him either. The whole River storyline could have been so much better than it was, but the writing simply wasn't there. Add to that the fact that most of the fans I talk to are tired of Gloria and all her drama, and the character never really stood a chance IMO.

Only time will tell if these rumors are true or not.

Vail Bloom can't act. Heather COULD have been a great character, but Bloom can't act her way out of a paper bag.

Michael Gross, loved him on Family Ties, hated him on Y&R. What a stupid, stupid character. So long Lowell!

I don't think any of these losses are big. None of these characters have been carrying significant levels of story (Engen was, but it's clear he's been written into a corner that it will take some time to get out of)...what I love is that the Vets are NOT being thrown under the bus.

Mark H, with the way ratings are going according to your terrifying graphs (which I have no doubt are accurate, sadly), I don't know if having a viable next generation matters anymore. The Bells are going to leave CBS before 'the party's over'...they're NOT going to do a GL and rot on the vine. When the show can't be run as it is currently, it'll be pulled with dignity. Then the Bells will go forward with their future plans...

If they let Engen go, I'd do it like they did Leblanc (after he tried to kill Cricket). Jail him, but bring him back with a redemption arc.

I'd have enjoyed Heather-Adam developing...she is an important character in the history of the show...so a recast at the time of Adam's redemption arc would work.

Gross hasn't grabbed me in this role. This seems to be a character and story they are making up as they go along...without long-term ideas. It may also be...if they are cost cutting...that the expensive prime timer is "last hired, first fired". I'm not liking nu-Eden ANY more than old-Eden. She has very little presence, and does she lisp?

I would love Y&R to go out on a high note, DaytimeFan. Are you implying the Bell "future plans" involve new properties, or a reformulated Y&R for new media? I'd like to see them keep PLANNING for a viable next generation. This is the one show for which I have some hope.
