Members Juliajms
^ I would say that when it comes to FBI operations most Americans wouldn't feel qualified to know when that is justified and when it isn't. It's not like we have the information to make that decision. Obviously children on a no fly list doesn't make sense and anyone can see that is wrong, but when it comes to adults how could individual Americans ever know what that is justified and when it isn't? A registry is much more clearly wrong and worrisome. Also this article is arguing that a registry would be constitutional. http://www.politico.com/story/2016/11/donald-trump-muslim-registry-constitution-231527 Edited November 18, 2016 by Juliajms
Members JaneAusten
What's disturbing is that we already has this in place under Bush and part of Obama's term and many of us didn't even know it. I'm not crediting Trump by any means, but there has been so much surveillance of Americans going on already in collaboration with telecom companies and help from silicon valley that none of us are even aware of. Members Juliajms
^ True and let's just say any trust I had in the FBI is now seriously eroded. Lord help us all, I feel Pandora's Box has truly been opened and so much %*&^ is about to go down.
Members marceline
The funny thing is that Republicans opposed the suggestion that people on the no-fly list should be forbidden from buying guns. But now they want a registry.

Members DRW50
So apparently Mitt Romney and Trump are meeting to discuss SoS. I have a feeling it's just for public appearances, not serious, but sadly he probably would be a much better choice than most names under consideration, especially Rudy.
Members Vee
Mitt may feel called to serve - as I know a number of sane, competent national security hands allegedly do despite their distaste, to prevent utter disaster and incompetence in a Trump-led government. If it happens he'd be far preferable to many other proposed names.

Members Juliajms
That's some good news at least. I feel like it's open season and certain politicians are going to be testing to see how much they can get away with.
Members Khan
And I...would have to agree. I never thought I would say this...but naming Mitt Romney as SoS would be the first smart move the Trump administration has made.

Members DRW50
Not much of a surprise but this man is the one that I seem to remember shouting off after national security briefings he attended with Trump and Christie or whoever. Just no. http://www.nytimes.com/2016/11/18/us/politics/michael-flynn-national-security-adviser-donald-trump.html?ribbon-ad-idx=2&src=trending
