What?? Damn!

I clicked on the article, and someone in the comments on the Rawstory site says they already have the suspect, who confessed.

Hope he enjoys federal prison. And I hope those that may be affected vote in person, as I think today or tomorrow is said to be the deadline for any replacement ballots to be re-sent.

This is what Trump has wrought:

"Approximately 20 electoral ballots were damaged, along with additional miscellaneous mail," Phoenix Fire Department officials revealed, according to ABC 15.

"We are waiting for details from law enforcement," Maricopa County Recorder Stephen Richer explained. "We encourage all voters who used that mail box in the last 36 hours to check the status of their ballots at https://BeBallotReady.Vote."

"Successful delivery is usually reflected on that website within 72 hours," he added. "Voters should be aware that tomorrow, October 25 is the last day to request a replacement ballot. If a voter believes they were impacted by this incident they can learn more about how to make that request at https://Request.Maricopa.Vote."

I'm just frayed to the edges.

I know it's early. I know a billion factors are in play. But when you see news like normally blue Miami-Dade County in Florida flipping red, and see how new sexual assault accusations don't even move the needle against Trump...even after HITLER...

Well, I'm just scared and sad right now. Could we still win? I pray to God or whatever being one believes in that it can happen. But Trump has - thus far - been Teflon, so the 2016 PTSD I keep harping on seems realer by the day.

Half or more of this country worships Trump, made worse now because of the kids who grew up when he was President are now of voting age, and many don't know or care about just how dangerous he and his puppetmasters are. Whenever people say any other Republican would be outperforming Trump, I wonder just who they think would win (Nikki Haley would never make it out of a primary). It took a pandemic to beat Trump in 2020. I don't have any idea what will this year.

Miami-Dade has been tilting right more each year, and Florida is mostly a lost cause these days (this is where the state party needs to be helped - supposedly they are improving but have been a disaster for years). I do worry how much this reflects nationwide early voting trends, and the movement toward Trump in polling.

I did see this, which has a more optimistic view about Nevada's numbers, although it might be seen as a cope, I don't know.

That account has also been putting out a number of tweets doubting Emerson polling, which had some very GOP-friendly polls in 2022 and are back again this year (the latest saying Harris is only 3% ahead in New Hampshire).

Not polls, though. Early voting has favored the GOP based on those following.

As I said, I realize it's early. But to think it is indeed so close is demoralizing. Especially knowing so many don't care that Trump is lower than sewer sludge. So many fellow Americans seem to enjoy the drama and hatred and that is just...unreal.

So, like those following early voting on social media have said, I hope Dems start turning in those ballots if they are holding on to them in ballot-voting states or come out in a massive way on Election Day.

The alternative is horrifying.

You're getting caught up on social media which is the worst thing. Do yourself a favor. Volunteer to phone bank.  I can get you the information.  Over the years I have volunteered for political campaigns periodically. I worked on Lauren Underwoods campaign and she won one of those 40 seats the democrats flipped in 2018. It was the most recent best experience I have had since I volunteered with my mom for Carol Mosley Braun in 1992.

Social media is the worst thing.  Obsessing over polls and over social media is not healthy.  Doing something productive will help you feel you are making a difference and you will.  I have helped people transition into canvassing off and on for years now and a lot of people get real satisfaction. I was working with a woman and her young daughter in 2022 and we ended up at a republican home and the man there said nope but he thanked the woman I was with for bringing her daughter and getting her involved at such a young age and how important the work is.  Sure you'll get people who don't want to be bothered, but over the years I have met some great people and even had good phone conversations on occasion.

Also focus on self care and make sure YOU are ok. Taking care of your mental health is as if not more important than the physical, so be good to yourself.

I'm familiar with Swann Marcus. I can't say whether he's right or wrong. I'm not going to go Emerson poll truthing because I just don't know enough about them.

Regardless, I think the Republicans are typically overconfident and Democrats typically dooming and neurotic, all of which I find tiresome. I think the media is capitalizing on this because they want a horserace and because some of them fundamentally disdain Democrats/want Trump back. But I do suspect we may be in for a 2022 situation overall, and I think it's gonna be a very long 12 days for everyone - not just Democrats, either. I think we may see a few more fortunes turn and twist over the next week and a half, and I think it befits all of us to get away from it for a bit and breathe as much as we can, while staying informed.

Actually he's not the only one.  Adam Carlson has illuded to this also.  And Nevada did change their rules on auto voter registration in that everyone because NP, the majority of those are younger people.  Time will tell.

Print is, at this point, cheap. I don't care if Kelly is a right wing hawk with a long history, if he loves this country and wants this message out he needs to take it to TV. (And I won't be shocked if he does, or doesn't.)

That rally in Atlanta last night was MASSIVE!

A reminder of the precious nature of the act of voting and how many people actually hold this act dear.

I have not posted much over the past year plus here, and I am going to disconnect for a few days - I;m going to Milwaukee to do canvassing this weekend, but wanted to drop this here RE: Nevada.  Tom Bonier is one of the few people I trust - so please get some perspective on Nevada. Read the thread. I can post the 5 points if some of you no longer have access to X/Twitter.
