Unfortunately, Pruitt's resignation is a case of "too little, too late." Yes, he's outta there (and back here, unfortunately) but the damage he did while he was in charge at the EPA will outlive him for decades to come.

I hope that someone is going to help her as I imagine she will be high on the deportation list. If the group, called Rise and Resist had pulled a 'Mariah Carey' they certainly changed their tune when I heard one of their representatives speak this morning. The group's spokesperson said that although, it was not something the group planned (because of the physical risk), they thought cited Patricia for her bravery and called her an active member of the group. Ms. Okoumou has already been released on her own recognizance to appear in court next month with three misdemeanor charges. She has pled not guilty. "Michelle Obama said when they go low, we go high. And I went as high as I could." Not sure where people are getting the idea that she can be deported without a major breach of the rule of law.

I read an article a week or two ago that naturalized citizens are also being deported (or at the very least taken into custody). Maybe that's wrong. I hope it is. I'm glad the organization is standing behind her now. Their statement yesterday didn't give me that impression.

A green card holder a.k.a 'legal resident' can be deported if serious crimes are committed. A naturalized U.S. citizen has all the rights of any other U.S. citizen. There have been reports of green card holders and a naturalized citizen being detained before being released. As terribly unpleasant that is, it is not the same as deportation. Only a major paperwork snafu can cause a U.S. citizen to get a deportation order, at which point that would be grounds for one hell of a lawsuit. Edited July 5, 20187 yr by DramatistDreamer

July 6, 20187 yr Member Scott Pruitt’s campaign of abusing and “ratfucking” his own aides is what, in the end, led to his downfall. @lachlan and I report on how: https://t.co/Vr0e0pBfZI— Asawin Suebsaeng (@swin24) July 5, 2018 “A thousand points of light,” Trump says of the old HW Bush slogan. “What the hell does that mean?”— James Oliphant (@jamesoliphant) July 5, 2018
July 6, 20187 yr Member SNL used to rag on that speech too. One of the few things I do not miss about Presidents of more modern years is the phony, overwritten speeches that most of them never could pull off anyway (only Reagan could, which is probably the only compliment I can pay him). Even Obama's best moments were more from the heart than from the pen). Of course I'd take that over "build the wall" or "they aren't bringing their best."

I think people are on edge right now and are expecting the worse for 45 at every turn. Yet despite his best efforts we aren't living under some blood and soil doctrine. A citizen is a citizen as it should be.
July 6, 20187 yr Member Trump's Mar-a-Lago Club has applied for permission to hire 40 foreign workers, according to Labor Department data. This, despite Trump claiming that immigration is holding down wages and crowding out native-born American workers. https://t.co/Cd1NzJnBU2 — Kyle Griffin (@kylegriffin1) July 6, 2018
July 6, 20187 yr Member Wow, so the courts have already struck down six of Scott Pruitt's rollback policies! He was so hasty to undo Obama-era protections that he neglected proper procedures. I see this happening a lot with this current government.
July 6, 20187 yr Member Are any of these people taking these childrens' fates seriously? People love their dogs, but come on. JUST IN: Federal judge agrees to delay next meeting about extending deadline to reunite 101 children under the age of 5 until Monday because Trump administration lawyer has “dog sitting responsibilities” this weekend.@JuliaEAinsley — Peter Alexander (@PeterAlexander) July 6, 2018
July 6, 20187 yr Member ^ How ridiculous. There should be no extension. Taking any of these children was an act of evil, but under 5? What a terrible trauma. I wish nothing but pain on everyone involved in this.
