I've been saying this for months. He's right.

Go back and look: I told y'all long ago Trump treats this whole thing like another lark, another failed business. He will not allow himself to be humiliated by Mueller, or have his financial issues exposed. What does he do when they fail? Walk away and claim victory. I said it in November and every month since. It's what he did today with the councils, it's what he'll do with the White House.

I discussed this dude elsewhere as follows:

These kind of trololol kids who link up with the alt right are often extremely socially awkward and shrivel up like slugs when faced with real life consequences for behavior they enjoy online from the comfort of a protected space, just as he did.

The kid says he's not a white nationalist but just 'enjoys being offensive' - and on some level that is probably true. Behaving outrageously in that way on sites like 4chan, various subreddits, etc. are an outlet for him and a lot of others like him to deal with feelings of alienation, anxiety, probably depression. Once they are linked together they create kids like this, who 'ironically' share memes and racist catchphrases at first, then find themselves going native and becoming outright bigoted.

 

I think most of the younger ones have only been taught supremacy in hotboxes like those sites. For most of them the real issues began earlier with more existential things that also contribute to why Trump got elected - first and foremost, the fading of a conventional dominant white identity in America to affix themselves to. Along with toxic masculinity, self-image issues, psychological factors. A lot of those typical adolescent issues are exacerbated by a local or online culture that reinforces their neuroses and enables blaming the other. Those issues can all be treated. And bigots can be rehabilitated. But it begins with breaking them down like this.

 

White nationalist groups and the Trump movement recruited from kids like this and sites like those, and intensified their feelings. It starts out as ironic detachment as a coping mechanism for deeper issues, and then becomes radicalized. When faced with pushback from real people in the light of day this kid has no idea what to do and can barely talk about it.

 

There are a million young men like this today in America. There have always been young men like this in America. What social media and the far right has done is give them a common breeding ground the same way KKK gatherings used to radicalize in the old days in regional areas. And we have to keep exposing them, shaming them, and deconstructing them before white America can be cleansed.
