I think some is racism, some is ignorance, some is fear. Some is honest opposition of policy.

Alphanguy, I really appreciate your having the courage to make such statements. While there is zero doubt that some Republicans hate black people, it is refreshing to hear somebody not lump all Obama opponents into the racist category.

And when we had the gay marriage ban on the ballot back in 2004, I looked at the election results county by county. St. Louis, St. Charles, and Jackson county (St. Louis and Kansas City) defeated it handily. the county where I live, which has a university, also defeated it, but just barely (like 53-47 percent). I looked at the counties WAY down in the middle of the ozarks, Shannon, Ripley, and Carter counties... those counties passed that gay marriage ban by like 93 PERCENT. And look at this, and you see what we're dealing with:

That's the Bible Belt for you. My mother was raised in rural Missouri (Wright County) and she says it was just terrible, very racist there. Not much has changed, as it's still the most socially conservative region in the US.

You should see the reaction the gay nudist campground down there gets. I think when people have no money, they just find other things to pick on so they don't have to face the fact that they are a failure.

So Mittens' own spokesman has likened him to an etch-a-sketch that will be wiped clean at the end of the primary. If you're concerned about any position Romney has taken all these months, don't worry: nothing he says now really means a damn thing. Just wait for the next version of the RomneyBot to be released.

I wonder if this guy will be fired. That's a huge gaffe.

I love the Santorum team's response:

We all knew Mitt Romney didn’t have any core convictions, but we appreciate his staff going on national television to affirm that point for anyone who had any doubts

That's an open secret, that Romney just says whatever he wants, but it's breathtaking that his shill actually admits it to the press. I mean "Etch-a-Sketch." Really? That's what you find in angry press releases from your opponents.

The saddest part is that no one will care. Not the fawning press, not most of the base. It will just be shrugged off as business as usual.

This might give some laughs:

Wonder if the woman shouting was Sarah Palin?

The brass over at ABC News must have let their proofreaders go. Read the next to the last paragraph (pay attention to the bold part)...

Santorum sought in a written statement to clarify today that he did not mean he vote against Romney if Romney is the nominee in November.

Cliff Stearns is in a tough primary race and his opponent alleges that he bribed him to get out of the race, going to the birth certificate is a deflection.

It is shocking that someone who is leading an official investigation into another matter would say this. If the Republicans in Congress have any integrity they will remove him from the investigation.

Newt is a piece of crap for making political hay of this. BUT....Sorry you guys...Geraldo is exactly right in what he said recently. For 15 years now, youth have been dressing like criminals because they think it's "cool". and furthermore, you can probably bet this boy had his pants on the ground, so walking around with your hand in the waistband to hold them up, some people are gonna think your'e going for a gun. you absolutely SHOULD only be judged on your actions, but a person don't need to tempt fate, either. It's not his or his parents' fault as much as it is the fault of society and black culture for not rejecting the concept of children being allowed to dress like criminals, and have it be accepted. And Al sharpton wasn't being generous coming down there when his mother just died... he was wantin to be in front of the TV cameras. Jesse Jackson could have handled that rally. Don't get me wrong, Zimmerman was obviously wrong from what i've heard so far. But I don't believe in doing, saying, and wearing things that will set off unstable people.

Almost as funny as "Better Homes -- Than Yours" on The Simpsons.
