Members DRW50
I think people care; I just don't think it was enough to make a big difference in the election. Not with this broad of a win. It was heavily used in 2022 and had limited effect. Thanks.
Members janea4old
Here's an article that describes exactly what was in the video: https://www.cbsnews.com/newyork/news/donald-trump-bronx-new-york-city-immigration-inflation/
Members BetterForgotten
That’s strange, it was posted only today too. They basically went into an ethnically-diverse and lower-income community in the Bronx (a historically Democratic stronghold). Trump apparently did a lot of outreach there and had significant voting gains there vs. the previous elections. Anyway, most people said Trump spoke about the issues they cared about (economy, inflation, illegal migration). That, and coupled with him visiting the area/doing outreach there was enough for them to switch and vote for him. It’s fascinating how these people that Trump likely has no regard for in reality were so willing to switch party lines and vote for him in this election. Members DRW50
I think something that certain Democratic consultants or activists were hoping on is voters would simultaneously want to uphold abortion rights and vote for the party. Many decided to have their cake and eat it too by supporting Trump and believing his lies that it was a state issue and he was somehow pro-choice.
Members Vee
Nope. Pass. The majority of the country wants Roe. They're just stupid as shít about other things.

Members Juliajms2
Good Lord. There is basically a pogrom happening in Amsterdam right now. I really never thought I would live to see this happening in Europe. Again. I'm not even going to try to embed a link.

Members AdelaideCate007
I remember years ago saying on here that from my outside perspective the US media seemed liberal to me. I was so wrong and naive. On behalf of Australia, I apologise for the Murdochs. I blame them for so much of this and for our troubles here. Also, I'm going to be honest- I feel no sympathy for the Jewish men in the US who voted for Trump and are now getting all kinds of abuse and racism from Trump supporters. Some of the dumbest pick mes on Earth. I was happy to see that Jewish women overwhelmingly voted for Harris. I hated seeing the far left trying to isolate and drive Jewish people out of leftist spaces (an issue here too). The Palestinian supporters who didn't vote and are now crying over Trump are also looking real stupid. He told them exactly what his Gaza plans were and they ignored him. My cousin in Israel has been saying that the far right there is practically giddy that he won because they know they can totally wipe out Gaza. Just totally played themselves.
Administrator Toups Posted November 8, 2024 Author Administrator Share Posted November 8, 2024 It's sad to say but the next democratic nominee has to be straight and male. I've got two in mind right now, no matter what their skeletons are: Gavin Newsom and Hakeem Jeffries. Two straight good looking males. I would love to one day see a gay person or a woman become President, but there's a ton of people who don't, unfortunately.
Members Juliajms2
What a horrific thought. There are so many children in that awful place. I do think there are Israelis who would try to stop this even now, but I'm not sure they can reign in BiBi anymore than our left can control Trump. As for American Jewish women, I'm not sure I've met a group of people more dedicated to social justice for everyone. Even the day after 10/7, women were commenting to me how much they hoped the innocent people in Gaza would be spared. I'm just not built like that. It takes me a lot longer to see the bigger picture.
Members Vee
I feel for the innocent citizens in Gaza. But anyone pro-Palestine in this country or any minority who sat this one out or voted for Trump (often for the same reasons as Latinos and white working class males, apparently) have bought and paid for exactly what they will get. Take a good look. And I am as progressive as the next person, but there needs to be a real hard line going forward about how we let academic language and concepts dictate how we talk about policy or issues. I'm also beyond done with the casual antisemitism of the far left (which predates the latest Palestinian crisis, to be clear) being coddled and tolerated. Jews showed up. Members Khan
No way am I ever putting up another Black person to be the Democratic nominee in this country. I might feel differently down the road, but right now, I feel like my people have been thrown to the wolves enough. And I still think a gay man stands a better chance of becoming president than a woman. (Pete Buttigieg, come on down!)
