Members LoyaltoAMC
I'm really glad for AMC. Though I don't care for the show's direction, I'm happy for them that their stunt paid off. It will be interesting to view the daily numbers to see how they trended from Monday through Friday. I have a hunch that most of the viewers who tuned in for the tornados will leave or have already left as the show returns to the same characters and stories that were featured beforehand. I don't think they will be able to sustain these inflated numbers, but you never know.
Administrator Toups Posted October 31, 2008 Author Administrator Share Posted October 31, 2008 The ABC report has it wrong. DAYS actually dropped in viewers.
Members Angela
That's a chunky error, 300,000. Are you going to post the ratings up tonite, Toups, or later on Friday?
Administrator Toups Posted October 31, 2008 Author Administrator Share Posted October 31, 2008 Yeah....I'll try and find out why that number is different. Everything else was the same. I'm doing them now....probably be done in 15 min or less.

Members Angela
Thanks Toups, whoa GH in 7th. Dang.
Administrator Toups Posted October 31, 2008 Author Administrator Share Posted October 31, 2008 Seeing GH in second last is just shocking. When was the last time that happened? The 60's, 70's?
Members SteveFrame
Wow Friday's are usually bad for the soaps but this week all went up or maintained on Friday excpet for Days. It was the only one to go down on Friday this week. Weird. Maybe people tuned out and watched the tornado on AMC.
Members Angela
Possibly, I'm confident it hasn't happened since April 2002. Their were some 6th places in HH before that so you never know. Then again there were like 9-10 soaps back then. Probably 60's-70's.
Members Y&RWorldTurner
Hopefully this will wake someone up at ABC Daytime regarding the network's "Crown Jewel" soap. I hope GH sticks where it is for a long time, until Guza is fired. However, GH will always rebound, sadly. Also, the margin between GH and AMC in viewers isn't that huge. Administrator Toups Posted October 31, 2008 Author Administrator Share Posted October 31, 2008 Sadly I don't think it will. ABC only cares about the demos and GH is still doing okay. I think GH would have to fall in the bottom half in demos for somebody at ABC to wake up.

Members SteveFrame
It may have been at some point in the 60's I guess when the show first came on. but from what I can remember about the ratings in the 70's - even when it was almost cancelled it wasn't last or even near last. I think even at that point it was beating both Somerset and Love of Life and even some weeks it was beating The Edge of Night at that point. It was low but still not that low. In it's first season in the 60's it was 5th from the bottom most of the time beating Brighter Day, The Doctors, The Verdict Is Yours, & Ben Jerrod consistently - usually by quite a bit. In it's 2nd season most of those shows were gone except for The Doctors and there were only 8 shows on. It usually finished #7 and that is where it finised the season but 2 full points ahead of The Doctors at #8. It it's 3rd season it was still usually 7th but there were 12 shows on that season. In it's 4th season it was on the move always near #5 and finished #6 out of 17 that season. The 5th season saw it drop in ratings position but not much in overall ratings as the NBC shows moved ahead but it still usually beat Days, The Nurses, Dark Shadows, and A Time For Us that season. The 6th season it reached the 8's for the first time in ratings and finished the season with it's highest rating yet at 8.8 but was still in 9th place for the season out of 12 soaps. It usually was still beating Days as well as Love Is A Many Splendored Thing and Dark Shadows. The 7th season it finally moved ahead of The Secret Storm and usually finished ahead of Dark Shadows, The Secret Storm, One Life To Live and Hidden Faces. It got very close to overtaking GL in the season ratings that year as it fell to it's lowest position and lowest ratings at that point. In it's 8th season there were 19 shows on the air and GH usually finished 9th or 10th out of 19 and finished 10th for the season finally going ahead of another CBS soap, Love of Life. In it's 9th season on the air it hit a rating surge big time and jumped back up near 5 - even getting into the top 5 shows finally. It finished the season 6th out of 18. In it's 10th season it finally hit the top 3 and threatened ATWT finishing #2 out of 17 that season hitting the 10's for the first time. In it's 11th season NBC was really pushing big time but GH stayed right up there fighting but finished 4th for the season. (This was the season they stole Denise Alexander from Days. She was Days most popular actress at the time.) In it's 12th season it stayed in the top 5 most times, usually right behind the 3 NBC shows (Days, AW, & The Doctors). It finished 5th out of 16. In it's 13th season, 13 proved to be unlucky as they dropped out of the top 5 but still usually stayed ahead of several soaps. It finished the season 8 out of 14. In it's 14th season, they had lost their long time writers Frank & Doris Hursley and long time producer James Young. They were consistently in the 7's for ratings and finished the season at 10 out of 14. They usually beat OLTL, the Edge of Night (which switched to ABC that season), Somerset and Ryan's Hope. the 15th season is when Douglas Marland and Gloria Monty first started to work. They were still maintaining high 6's and low 7's. They usually beat The Doctors, Love of Life, Edge of Night, Somerset, and Lovers and Friends at this point. The Doctors was the first of the NBC shows that was really suffering at this point. They had lost their key lead in after Another World plus lost their hot writers The Pollocks to GH the previous season. They had finally gotten things together with Douglas Marland but GH stole him too when The Pollocks didn't strike the same magic at GH as they did at The Doctors. The 16th season was the first full season of Marland and Monty. GH finished the season with a 7.0 - the same as the previous season average, but were now beating Days, the Doctors, Love of Life, Edge of Night, and For Richer, For Poorer. They were slightly beaten by Ryan's Hope who had the same HH rating but had a higher share than GH did. It is weird that in that season AW was still doing good. It was ranked 2nd for the season right behind ATWT. Both had an 8.6 but ATWT had a 31 share while AW had a 28 share. But everything would change that next season as ABC finally dominated putting AMC in 1st for the season and GH in 2nd. So anyway after that long tyrade if they have been 2nd to last it would be more recent as even before they were almost cancelled they still were consistently ahead of many other shows. But part of that is due to the fact there were so many shows on the air. But at the same time Gh was usually quit a few points ahead of the others under it in HH's. Members DaytimeFan
I really really really hope Y&R and B&B can continue to climb back up, I am sick that Y&R, which is really enjoyable, is lower than it was under LML. Disgusting. Good for DAYS. Yahooooooooooooooooooooooooo for AMC! GH sucks!
