Members DRW50
Didn't it have a game show?
Members robbwolff
Yep. In the last few months, KVIK had a game show titled "Texas Tall Tales" starring Stella Stanton.
Members slick jones
Thanks. I only found one article myself, and I wasn't sure. It had them appearing soon, so I wasn't sure.
Members robbwolff
I found a couple articles, including one that had other performers listed (Jayne Meadows, Peter Noone). But I just don't recall them appearing on the show.
Members amybrickwallace
Did the TV station always figure into the story or did it become more prominent once Bev McKinsey left?

Members robbwolff
Carl, Thanks for those awesome Texas articles! I caught the snippet about the cancellation rumors being false. I remember Entertainment Tonight announcing around March 1982 that NBC was canceling Texas but then retracting the statement the next day.
Members DRW50
Thanks. I guess they must have changed their mind at the last second. I wonder if that Natalie Campbell did any other roles. I'd never heard of her.
Members robbwolff
I don't recall seeing Campbell on anything after Texas. I recollect her being rather tall with brown hair. Gretchen Randolph wasn't around very long at all…maybe from January through April of 1982 and then she was killed off.
Members Melroser
That Brette/Rikki story is THE story I remember most about Texas! (I was only 9 then) That story alone will always make me love that show. So great to see an article about it. Thanks!
Members DRW50
Thanks for reading. I've always had a soft spot for Harley Jane Kozak (long before I ever knew she was on soaps). I will have to check some of that material out if it's online. Were they on to the end?
Members SoapDope
Thanks for the articles. They scream 1982, especially Randy Hamilton talking about his new Firebird with the T-tops. Randy followed in Michael Young's footsteps by hosting two shows he did. Young hosted a show on early Nickelodeon called America Goes Bananaz then left and Randy replaced him. Young then hosted Kids Are People Too and Randy later hosted on that show as well.
Members SoapDope
It's interesting to see Caryn Richman on Texas. She later played in The New Gidget 1985-1988 with Dean Butler (from Little House), Sydney Penny (AMC) and William Schallert (I think he has played everyone's dad at some point). Fred Kohner who created the franchise said out of all the movie/TV Gidget's, Caryn was the most like his daughter Kathy (Gidget) who he wrote the books about. He died shortly after production of this series and I guess the franchise died with him since there hasn't been any more updated projects with the character.
Members robbwolff
Yep. Rikki and Brette were there till the end.
Members Melroser
I really liked Brette/Rikki as a couple, as well as Mark/Ruby. They were my fave four of that show with Ruby my fave character from the moment she arrived. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o6z99hv1P-8 Please register in order to view this content
