What were TS/Gary and ML/Karen more shocked by?  The sudden reappearance of Val, or the cheap wig JVA was sporting when she returned?

And I REALLY could have done without FW/Vanessa and JG/Tom.

There just didn't seem to be a point in bringing back Tom when it was clear Greg and Paige were endgame.

And once Vanessa had split up Alex and Kate, it was time to send her packing.  She had served her purpose.

I think it's just a sign of being a show that never really generated much hype either way. Falcon Crest had a similarly low-rated finale. (Dynasty doesn't count since I don't think ABC really promoted it as such)

Well, that figures.  By the time the show had ended, most of the actors and characters who the audience loved - Chase, Cole, Julia, Melissa, Maggie - had gone.  Angela would have been gone, too, had Jane Wyman not returned (against her doctors' wishes) for the last few episodes.

I was stuck on season 4.  Now I'm watching season 5 today.
