Putting him (or anyone) near Tammin Sursok is going to ruin the storyline. I understand they need a hurdle, but surely there is someone else? Just write her off already. It's obvious they know she isn't working, so why keep giving her chances?

I have found it a little odd myself, Michael doing all this. EXCEPT (i) he threw most of the funeral stuff over onto Jana, (B) I think friendship (he explained how he felt Victor had been there for him in the past...remember that Christmas where the Newmans brough him in from the cold?) and this new odd "need to be a good son" are at the root of this, © it is not like Michael has lost his edge---witness his snark with Adam. With rumors that Michael kicks off his front burner storyline within days...I just think this is all about showing us a bit of the "good heart" Michael has developed, despite his snark.

Have a good trip--I am envious.

I don't see why dark lighting is a good thing. I personally think it is odd that I had to turn up the brightness on my TV. Other than representing a more classic lighting style (nostalgia motive), why is darkness good? Visually, I thought some of the changes under LML (especially the revitalized NE set, with movement, that hopping corridor, addition of the elevator, breakroom, and multipurpose conference room, Victor's office within view of some of these rooms, lots of contiguous movement from scene to scene) was a good thing. I have missed these NE rooms lately. Sometimes, I worry they are "dialing back" certain things just "because" ( a kind of juvenile 'ding-dong, the witch is dead'...like that newspaper headline saying Crime Rate Lowest in 35 years, the INTENTIONAL shows of diamonds-fires-water bottles-flower arrangements)...even when some things improved pacing or energy or visual appeal.

I didn't find Y&R exceptionally darkly-lit yesterday. CBS has always been the Death Glare network.

Unintentionally funny moment: Paul huffing and puffing as he attempted to lift that cellar lid in the stables. Maybe he should have called JT?

Damn, when did Colleen get so snarky again? Although I hated it when she went to ask Pwincess Lily permission to throw out Chloe and Amber. Lily did her best Benign Monarch imitation: "Chloe, yes. Amber, no." BTW, I know she's a psychopathic liar and all, but I felt sorry for PsyChloe when Devon, Lily and Cane rounded on her. I can't help it!

I'm glad the show remembered that daniel & Lily were once married, but they were so flippant and "Hey, remember when we were married and how quickly we got over each other?" about it. They were a pretty beloved couple back in the day. Now, though, they have zero chemistry. And that's saying something, because Michael Grazadei is a chemistry magnet.

Looks like Eyall Podell is outta there.

^Yes, I must agree. Chloe is a blessing. Almost half the Y&R fans (if not even more) hate her, but just because of that I like her even more. The boring combo of Cane, Lily, Devon and Colleen together aren't even half as interesting as Chloe.

^^^ dmarex - I didn't realize that the majority of the fans didn't like Chloe. Are these people big fans of Cane/Lily????

As a matter of fact, my fave newer characters on the show are Adam, Heather and Chloe. Not necessarily in that order. :)

Yes, it's mostly Lane. It keeps surprising me that people like Lane. What the heck do they see in that couple?

Yes, out of the newest characters, those three are amazing ;) Each special in their own way.

^^^ WOW. That surprises me, too. I guess we're missing something in Lane that the others are seeing?!?! B)B)

I really liked the fact that Heather was with Adam yesterday when they found Syke's ring. She looks like she will be there to support him through this.

Word. Chloe is the saving grace of the younger set. She is the only character with spunk. She is full of potential. She needs an older confidant/mentor though, maybe Jill or even Phyllis.

Cane and Lily are a joke. Cane comes off like pedophile and CK is a terrible. Lane probably has the usual vocal soap fanbase of 10 people posting all over the boards.

    • So around '84 is when things get bad?
    • There are details through the thread, but yes, as mentioned, she hated Ellen Wheeler, and lambasted her for crying a lot, for her decisions with firing and Peapack, etc. Back in the day she also hated Pam Long, who created Reva and gave Reva all of her best material. The producers or writers she liked most seemed to be those who saw Reva in the most generic of molds, although she likely doesn't see it that way. She was OK on OLTL; I think @Vee could probably give a better summary. She was earthy and added her usual hard work to some trash material. There was nothing special going on, as yet again with patron saint Carlivati it was all plot, no character, and he cared more about writing for a cutesy child character.  You're right about what they could have done with Reva. Reva, Erica, and any women who are in story long enough face this problem. The biggest difference is Reva was allowed to age (even with the post-menopausal baby), which Erica was not.
    • Cali was the only Paulina for me on AW.  Was Judi Evans such a “name” that Cali was fired for her?  Judi basically played an entirely different character.  She could’ve been Nancy!
    • They were great together. Barbara was way too high maintenance for any man. You know Henry divorced her a$$ after about a year.  And, here’s an example of what I was talking about…
    • I watch every day as well, and I am enjoying the show. There's always room for improvement. TBH, things are much different from what I expected reading the character breakdowns. That could be a good thing! I'm willing to let them find their groove and figure out what kind of show it wants to be. The core and underlying theme. -I echo what a few others have said: The show is lacking in real romance and cross-starred lovers. But that tracks from (MVJ) experience cause the bell soaps are not good with romance IMO. -I have a feeling it's being built before our eyes, but we're missing that rival family. -I would prefer more variety of storylines. Good ones that could weave together the whole town.   -I struggle connecting to the male characters. So I hope they get a clear handle on them soon. Most of them feel underwritten and one-note. -Find a better purpose for Naomi. I fear she will be the first Dupree dumped. I completely agree. June's story does nothing for me. And what if she turns out to be Tyrell and Samantha's mom? They are very close to leaving high school. why should I care? If she turns out to be related to Hayley also, what's the long-term story, and why should I care? I believe Hayley can work on her own as a vixen. Does she need a sounding board? Sure, but you can accomplish that with an outsider's friend group. I didn't think I would be saying this, but I would entertain Kat having a forbidden affair with Jacob. Both Naomi and Jacob need something to do other than case-of-the-month storylines.
    • That would really just be a redux of the Leslie/Eva story. I really hope they don't go there. My guess for the storyline with Anita that we have "never seen before on daytime" is that it may be a "me, too" story. Anita did unspeakable things to get ahead because of some disgusting producer, and the other person she left behind was a boyfriend who cared about her very much.
    • Reva and Zimmer needed strong adversaries/scene partners. It would dampen the negatives associated with the character and Zimmer's self-admitted excesses. I think that's why she was a bust on SB. I don't know how she did on her return to OLTL because I was not watching at that point. The problem for me with Reva is the same situation with Erica Kane. It ended up being variations of the same storyline year after year. I think if the show had truly broken up Reva and Josh and put them in other viable relationships it would have freed up the characters to have better storylines and character growth. Instead, it's as if the characters were stuck for decades.
    • I am still behind and know what upcoming week you are talking about.

And I know I'm not ready and have not been since the official news. That was my first couple on that show. You won't be alone.    When you put it like that...same. Like I say in the thread when I'm more interested in what people are wearing than the stories...red flag. No momentum. Just stalling.      lol.
