Unpopular Opinions

Featured Replies

I have tons of unpopular opinions - from now, from the past, etc. I used to run a sigline that named my 8 best unpopular opinions. It was fun for awhile.

For today I will just say, I hate smushed together, intended to be cute-sy, way overdone couple names. I mean it was one thing way way back when ATWT fans began doing it with Lilden. But, now, it's just gone so far beyond that many of them are incomprehensible & add a little bit of time in & look back & yeah baby, Huh? D'oh! And, right now it is Y&R's LAne. I mean you say Lane with regard to soaps & you are talking about Dalton, Georgia's own Lane Davies!

Speaking of Evangiline.......................

I loathed the character and was happy when was she put into a coma. REG was highly overated IMO.

Couple names are ick, especially the ones that you can just tell the fans truly struggled to put together. I'll never get over the stupidity that was JAVA. Jessica and Antonio VegA. Really? Just......really?

Another.

I HATE SPINELLI!

I used to love him dearly and then he started brown nosing Jason more than he did before. (I cannot stand when he calls him "Master") and he's just on way too freaking much.

I absolutely hate the combined soap couple names -- all of them

I think most of the self-appointed soap opera experts are gas bags.

I think OLTL is so campy that it is a joke.

I still think RC is incredibly overrated. The more he writes, the more obvious that becomes

I agree with those who say Rick Hearst is much much better than the big actors on OLTL

Spinelli annoys the hell out of me

The actress who previously played Maxie is better than the one who plays her now.

It's time for the networks to start seriously considering options for what comes next.

Oh man. I got lucky. I didn't wanna have to be the one who said that. :)

But, yeah. I agree. RC started out with a bang. But, the show started getting bad in July.

I thought the show sucked ever since Christmas- spending the holidays watching Bon Jour Cafe was so boring, so campy, so emotionally shallow- that I started taping over the show before I had seen the episodes. 'til this very day, everytime someone writes that they miss Bon Jour Cafe, I think they are terrorists out to get me.

I still think Noelle telling Moe to "try her pie" was a double entendre.

Somehow, that explains so much...

Some more unpopular goodness...

General

~ I'm black, but I've rarely "related" with most of the major black families in daytime. No more than I've related to the "white folk" at least. My parents aren't cops nor is my aunt a lawyer (AMC's Fryes), my mother and I aren't doctors and my father still isn't a cop (AMC's Hubbards), my mother still isn't a doctor and my father still isn't a cop (DAYS's Carvers), my mother isn't a lawyer, neither is my cousin and I'm not a cop (ATWT's Griffins), my parents aren't corporate folks involved in the cosmetics industry (Y&R's Winterses), and I'm pretty damn sure my mother isn't some slutty white woman (B&B's Marcus and Donna). Occupations alone, and the things that go along with them (nice homes, nice cars, the cash, etc), are reason enough for me to not relate to any of the above. Hell, my family is a lot more like the one from "Roseanne" than the one from "The Cosby Show."

Well I'm white and I have never been able to relate to anyone on any soap so I don't think it has anything to do with race.

~ I cringe every time I hear the word supercouple, even when it's used for real deal supercouples.

Me to.

~ I'm not in the camp of "everything about today's soaps suck! and everything about soaps 20 years ago was brilliant!"

Agreed.

watching all these wealthy people deal with their problems is like watching a Harry Potter movie- you know that some way, somehow, they'll find some magic spell to pull through. Their bank accounts never overdraft, they'll never get fired no matter how much work they miss, or how late they show up....OLTL makes me miss reruns of Roseanne.

Don't say that too often. Ron will write some six month rerun of Roseanne and put it on OLTL. I'm so glad people are speaking out. I thought the BonJour Cafe was just dreadful. It was a Alice return and a poor one.
