I'm in Emmerdale Farm heaven.... The Youtube channel has now uploaded all the way to episode 270! I wonder if they will actually upload the entire 1970s. It's halfway there now.

Wait, what?

I had  not heard about this.

What is the name of the channel, please?

Also, I am curious: how is the introduction of the new Sugden character coming along? I hope TPTB are making him a character who is viable to be a long-term presence on the series.

So far from the bits I've seen he is mostly moody and is there to go to poundtown with Aaron.

I highly doubt he has all from the 70’s. I already spotted a missed episode I have too in my collection.. I’m interested to see how much he has from 1977-1980

I don't mind if the new Sugden is moody or temperamental. I realize the show needs conflict to create drama. I just don't want TPTB to write the character into a corner; make him irredeemable to the point where he needs to be eliminated from the canvas. No rapes or murders, please. I want a viable Sugden who can remain center-stage, on canvas, for years to come.

He hasn't done anything beyond redemption yet. We'll hope for the best.

Fingers crossed.

I loathe when shows allow men (Sonny, Luke, Jason on GH: Todd on OLTL, etc.) to commit all sorts of heinous, degenerate crimes, and then encourage the audience to accept them anyway, as romantic leads who forever go unpunished.

The name of the channel is Classic Emmerdale Farm, and so far the person behind it has uploaded up to episode 275.

Two episodes are missing, episode 192 (apparently due to a copyright strike) and episode 251, (which apparently is missing and cannot be uploaded)

That's amazing. Thanks. I'll definitely be checking the channel out. It's been so long since I originally watched the early Emmerdale Farm eps, the series will feel like brand-new again.

It's unfortunate, but I suppose it's to be expected that some ancient episodes would go missing, particularly after several decades.

The best thing about these earliest episodes is that the Dingles have not yet infected the community.

So, I watched the scenes where first Charity and then Cain were told about the abuse Belle has suffered, and while they were performed well enough it was very hard to watch especially Cain's reaction. It just underlined for me what a massive hypocrite he is. He has spent practically his whole life in Emmerdale wreaking havoc on people's lives and resorting to violence every chance he gets (from what I gather he's about to do it again to his own son) so it falls flat for me. Charity is not much better than him either. This is unfortunately what you get when you make characters like this the center of your show, and it's why I have such a hard time caring anymore. So many characters on the show are unsympathetic and have such a vile history that even stories like this or Lydia's rape backfires because they involve characters I can't stand and characters who have no right passing judgement on anyone else.
