Watched today's show...

The only thing that bothered me was that it was so much of the OTT camp parody of Sharon - she would have at least considered that Kathy was telling the truth and not just pulling some long con to get Phil or his money.

Kathy was written very true to her character, and Gillian played the scenes well. Her reaction to seeing Ben and her having the clumps of Sharon's hair in her hand and throwing them out the window were my favorite parts.

I love Jay telling Phil how full of [!@#$%^&*] he is and the Mitchells are. Long may it last...

Thanks. I'll keep an eye out for it. I know it's the end for Carol (is today her last?). I do want to see it, but I have barely been able to stomach the show in months. Knowing that sour old wretch Sonia will be Gooning her way through the episode makes me sad...

Can Abi please be killed off? She's such a snitch!

And I cannot wait until all is revealed and the boom is let down on Jane and Ian and Abi has egg on her face.

But I'm over the 'who killed Lucy' saga. Reveal the truth to everyone on the Square, send Bobby away, punish Jane and Ian, and move on. This story is tiring.

It's just so dull. And I don't think the story will ever have a satisfying conclusion because DTC stories never do.

I don't even think the story has ruined anyone, bar Sharon, but I just don't need or want to see more of smug Phil or that unbearably sanctimonious child-stealer Jane. I hope they write her out when this is over.

I watched some of last night and laughed at how terrible and rushed the ending was, especially the dumbass "wha??" faces on everyone when Max was shouting.

I just want Stacey to find out the truth and avenge Max. I've always liked their relationship and it's the only thing I even care about with Stacey or Max at this point.

Stacey figuring out the truth would be the only bright side about this entire arc b/c she's a dog with a bone; she won't let it go. Plus, her being with Martin for the time being will allow her access to getting to the truth.

But I don't expect for that beat to be played either. As you stated, it'll be anticlimactic. But I am praying that Jane exits after this year too. I never cared for the character but I utterly loathe her now. And Ian has been tarnished by this story. I know I was in the minority but I enjoyed him opposite Denise.

I've never been the biggest Max fan (even though I love Jake Wood), but I felt so bad for him last night.

Oh I agree about Ian - I just mean I've always seen him as a weak man. Sharon I thought was better than this.

This shows just how much DTC doesn't get it, basically pulling out the canard that Ian and Jane would be "boring" without this story. This is the type of attitude that flies in the face of what created Eastenders, and is a great example of why soaps are falling.

(there are spoilers)

    • Same here.  Anyone who voluntarily left Margo's penthouse set (except to go overseas or to Heaven) was immediately on my blacklist.  lol.

    • The penthouse was my favorite set... and it changed hands from Margo to Draper/April to Miles/Nicole then to just Miles... before he opted to give that beautiful place for that drab house with the even more drab Beth.  That was a jump the shark moment for me LOL
    • The storyline April and Draper are involved in during the summer/autumn of 1979 seems fairly "benign" but soon turns very serious.  April has a VERY intrusive, wealthy mother (Margo Huntington Dorn).  Margo knows that April and Draper (who've recently had a miscarriage and are theoretically never going to be able to conceive another baby) want to buy a house.  Margo hoodwinks them into buying a house they can't afford.  The house is listed at $100,000 (about $400,000 in today's dollars).  Margo pays the first $35,000 and leads Draper to believe the asking price of the house is $65,000 instead of $100,000.  If Draper finds out his meddling mother-in-law paid 1/3 of the cost of the home and tricked him, he'll be mad as hell.   Meanwhile, Draper has received a job offer from a prestigious New York law firm.  Margo pulls some strings and has the senior partner in the firm rescind the offer, to keep April in Monticello.  If Draper finds out about THAT, he'll be even angrier with Margo than he will be about the house trickery.  All of that is "bubbling under the surface" in the fall of 1979 but will be the next major story, as everything begins to spiral out of control.   Yep, you've got the Karrs and their very basic middle-class house, the Victorian-themed place where Miles and Nicole live, April and Draper's old craftsman house with the exposed beams, the Madisons & their Mission revival house, and Margo with her 1970s-chic penthouse.  Each of the sets is completely different.  And their budget was like zero, lol.
    • It felt weird and out of place.  I get. While I agree with those on here that he's gotten better, it's still really bad. I'm not seeing the "good" acting some see...but I'll give him a B for being better than when he first started. There's potential. I'll leave it at that.
    • It's like watching paint dry at a slow-ass pace. It's bad acting. Entirely. Excellent? With Claybon? Never. Ever.

    • Ah! Good to hear. Isn't it especially odd to think that house fictionally exists not far from the Karrs?  Or, that it was designed non-fictionally by the same person who designed April's place?
    • Good to know I'm not the only one who noticed that. Strange and awkward, and I don't know what they're doing with those fades.   -- Finally, had to laugh at how many Emmys this board passed out today.
