I have no doubts that Sue Devaney (Debbie) will do the best work of her career with this dementia story and the viewers and the Webster family will be taken on an emotional roller coaster.  But with the soon to be loss of Sue Cleaver and the recent exit of Helen Worth Debbie/Sue is the last person that they should be writing out.

You are not wrong. I love watching Devaney but I won't watch this. I won't watch the Nigel story on EE either. Nigel was one of my favorite characters. I just can't take these stories anymore.

This (which stars Sue and Maureen Lipman, among others) comes highly recommended by me, whatever that is worth.

If you do watch and enjoy it make sure to watch to the very end.

Sally and Tim’s discussion about fostering made my week.  My god I love Sally.

Thanks for taking the time to screencap.

The Fiz mention is amusing, as she was a terrible foster child. IIRC, she accused Roy of abusing her.

Lowrie's first run as Dennis is some of Corrie's best. Handsome, charismatic, deeply funny, bouncing all over the screen, sparking with everyone. His relationship with his mother Elsie was great to watch, so often a joy, with some dramatic undercurrents. Dennis was what soap characters should be as he felt "real" without ever feeling too real.

When I first began watching classic Corrie, in the late '00s, Dennis was among the first who drew me in.

Let's just pretend he never came back.

I remember his character during his return in the early 10s... and didn't his character end up distantly related to Julie Carp and Eileen G?

Speaking of which, it's so typical of this show to bring back a formerly cheerful positive character like Julie and saddle her with a very grim story.. just to usher out Eileen.   Whatever happened to just coming back for a visit and having an ok existence?

I haven’t watched since Daisy’s last episode. Part of me feels like its a good place to end it because outside of The Platt’s, Tracy, Todd, and Carla and Swain I haven’t really enjoyed the show. Too many depressing stories and irksome characters, I especially hate what they’re doing to Debbie.

I do think its funny they spent all this time investing into that awful new family and apparently they’ve already been canned, feedback must have been horrid.

They were always meant to be short-term, I think - at least Mick and Lou.

Damn! Here we go again:

Daniel Brocklebank has been axed from his role of Billy Mayhew after 11 years and will leave in 2026!

bruh.. yet they keep useless characters Like Kirk and Izzy or Gemma on the payroll and axe Billy who actually had storylines and Craig. Craig was a Officer and could’ve used on important Future storylines but nooo. Keep Gemma, Izzy and Kirk who have no use :(

K. I might [finally] be good at locking into Coronation Street after many false starts. I'm beginning to feel a connection to [some] characters, and I can see the allure of the show.

If you're in the US, Corrie is now available to watch for free on the show's Youtube channel.

This is a day I would have been happy for about 15+ years ago. Not now, but given the cost cutting at ITV, they are smart to try to find whatever amounts of spare change they can.

There's also a Coronation Street Rewind channel that right now is mainly uploading episodes from 1997 (I think starting with the Battersbys' arrival lol). I hope that this doesn't affect the hard work that so many of done to upload most of the 70s-90s (and a good bit of the 60s). Unless, of course, they're planning to upload all of that themselves.

I've watched a few, and just hearing the proper mix of the theme tune gets you in a different type of mood vs. the awful version they've been using for so long now.

I do hope they upload everything themselves. They always delete the old episodes from Youtube anyway, although I imagine these will not have the pop songs that were often in the earlier episodes, which takes away the flavor.

The old theme is exquisite, especially the closing credits. That they've had the current godawful version for 15 years tells you all you need to know about everything in that period of time.
