Fully caught up and wow I can't wait to see the new episode when it turns up on Hulu.

I am loving the messiness of Lisa/Felix/Martine and am very intrigued by Warren and Felix's past I hope they go deeper into that.

I like what we have seen of Cher but how incredibly random to add an insta child and have her immediately bond with Goldie like she has been there all along. Even random for this fast paced show.

Great work by the actors playing Darren and Nancy during Kyle's funeral and Darren opening up to Mandy.

Loved Goldie's new look! But her and Joel continue to feel like filler and I really like them both. Same with Tom and Yazz.

Still enjoying the show greatly but this is my first time wishing they would trim down the cast despite the great community feeling. I am slightly biased as I mainly enjoy the Deverauxs, Maaliks and McQueens and Nancy's household (can't even remember their last names) but a lot of people have nothing going on for too long.

I just knew Stephanie Davis wouldn't be returning after her one-year hiatus. Too bad because as an actress she's very watchable and did a good job on the story with her abusive hubby from Home & Away. Now can Ste stay gone as well?
Kyle's suicide story is one of the things HO can pull off so well these days yet never get credit for. Jessica Fox did/is doing such good work, I'm glad they seem to value her.
It sucks to lose Imran Adams so soon but actors seem to want out of this show as soon as possible even when they end up doing little else. I could have done without the Big Little Lies police questioning fast forward scenes.

What's the thing with Joel? Is the actor busy elsewhere because Joel should be a main character. The pairing with Goldie doesn't work, I find her to be the weakest addition in recent years, and had it been me I'd have made the most of the Cleo/Joel pairing.

No, they just don’t use him. He should be a main character leading story, but when they do use Joel, they often waste him on offensive religious storylines that sees the character jump around from being a priest, to leaving the priesthood, to going back, to converting to the Anglican Church and becoming a vicar. I don’t think they know what to do with him, which is a shame as Joel is a very viable character.

I’m not sold on Joel/Goldie (or Goldie in general - I am thankful they have gotten rid of that awful red wig that they used to try to pass off as a weave), but I accept them as a couple because I think without Goldie, Joel would be seen even less. He should be hanging out with Brody and Damon, Sylver, mixing it up with them; having more scenes with Warren.

I find the show quite flat at the moment, and the Toby/Celeste plot is awful and dull. Tony/Diane/Edward is also awful and boring, and Edward must be the worst character on the show.

The only story that bothers me is the Deveraux one, and that's only because the actors playing Toby/Celeste/Mitchell are terrible. Toby and Celeste are beautiful though. Happy Mitchell is soon going to be gone.

I'm a sucker for the 7 sins type of story. Convoluted? Yes. But I only started watching again, after I don't even remember how long, since the show returned from hiatus. Coming back to the show, I told myself to just go on the wild, crazy, ridiculous, sometimes cringey ride this show takes me on. I'll still have some complaints, naturally, but I'm pretty into the show.

As for the drugs story, I think it's been great. Other than Victor, who has a shelf-life so I'm not too bothered, all the main actors involved are fantastic. Juliet is fascinating to watch, and Billy Price as Sid is a complete star. Bringing innocent little Ella in has me excited to see more of Mandy. I fear Ella will be the bodybag death though and if so that is one thing that absolutely will piss me off. We don't even know who her father is. I'd make it someone from the past. I don't even know who specifically, just someone.

I don't even mind the Edward story either. I hate him like everyone else, but I'm supposed to hate him. I just wish they'd at least mention Victoria, Tony's mother, in all of this. And the camera loves Verity, the actress has a lot of screen presence.

I wonder what happened with the Ollie recast. British soaps never do immediate recasts like that (although they did wait a few weeks) and there is no reason given as to Aedan Duckworth's exit, the show just strangely said he "no longer appears on the show". Has he commented himself?
I liked him a lot but I do like the new Ollie. In his first episode, he even did the random weird smiling of his predecessor, I thought that was a clever way to transition. And the BFF friendship of Imran and Ollie is one of the best things on the show so I'm glad it can go on. I'd just like to say it's crazy how good the casting has gotten on there, when you look at people like Juliet and Sid, there's a true balance of voices, styles and personalities, and I'd hate to see a return to basic casting once Kirkwood leaves. They also found the Nicky actress from Coronation Street first, and in just one episode I wanted to see so much more of her, but she's doing fantastic on Corrie!

    • One thing I thought about is if Hayley will have a reaction to Bill threatening to kidnap and sell a baby. That's another level of viciousness and with her just having thought she was pregnant it might make her feel some type of way.
    • You're welcome. Fall 1982-Spring 1985 was the peak of primetime soaps. What a time to have been alive.
    • 1990/91 Cheers, Roseanne, A Different World, The Cosby Show, Empty Nest, The Golden Girls were still Top 10 shows, and Murphy Brown and Designing Women became Top 10 shows. It was the following season that I think was the transition season for sitcoms.
    • @xtr I loved Martin in Thursday's episode, he was almost a different character. I thought he was flirty, funny, carefree, and giggly. Glad I have someone to share my top 2 women(Nicole and Eva) with, I agree Nicole is the heart of the Dupree family, and also the heart of the show IMO. We rode into the show on the passenger side of her car, lol. What I am enjoying the most about the show, is that they did such a great job character building, because all I care about is the CHARACTER journey. Nicole, Eva, Leslie, Dani, Chelsea, etc. very invested in what's coming next. I even feel that way about Mona, Shanice, and Doug.
    • I know we have discussed the fact that Another World seemed to be planning a location shoot in Finland that got cancelled. I came across this item from the syndicated Soapbox column published June 14, 1982. "Soap operas have been experimenting extensively with on-location shooting in recent years to enhance storylines and increase their viewing audience. A major drawback is the added production costs involved. Another World, for example, cancelled a special trip for Victoria Wyndham (Rachel Cory on the show), who was scheduled to shoot scenes in Finland. The producers felt that the high price tag, along with resentment of the cast members who also wanted to travel but were to be left behind. was enough to scrap the whole project."
    • A few more thoughts about these last two episodes. I thought it was interesting how much disdain both Dani/Anita have for Eva. I thought it was amusing how Dani was calling her lying/conniving and how Anita pointed as if to say, "that part". They definitely are not here for her, and I could see them having harsh confrontations with her in addition to Leslie. I'm curious to see Kat's interaction with Eva on Monday's episode. I think it might be interesting if Kat (along with possibly Naomi/Chelsea) come around to Eva before Dani/Anita do. Of course, Kat will be understandably angry at her. But maybe a tiny part of her might feel sorry for her if she really does believe that she's Ted's daughter as well and that Leslie lied to her. I could see Kat confronting Eva again and warning her not to harm her family anymore. But I could also possibly see Kat admitting that what Ted/Leslie did regarding her was messed up as well. And maybe that will pave the way down the line for them to get along better. I also agree with the comments/speculation made in the threat that Nicole will eventually accept/probably love her someday as well. I still wouldn't mind if somehow Nicole ended up being her biological mother. They have both been acting like they care for each other in this storyline. Nicole somehow ending up being her mother would be soapy and provide some more interesting layers in this story. And regarding Andre/Dani's romance it seems like they are genuinely developing feelings for each other. I have missed episodes, so maybe more of this has been elaborated on. But it seemed like there was genuine affection between both of them when they snuck a kiss publicly in the hotel. And also, them both talking about going publicly with their relationship. I wonder what everyone's reactions will be should they be caught by someone together. Of if they flat out tell everyone about their relationship.
    • I was wondering what week it was, and it explains the low rating for Knots Landing. I was also wondering what preempted Dallas and Falcon Crest.
    • Interesting take on Dallas. Frankly I think the plot of JR Returns should have been the way Dallas ended but for whatever reason they thought they had the chance to get renewed for another season lol. A week later Knots’ 2 hour season finale ranked at #10 against Cheers #3 and LA Law at #5. There’s only a handful of other shows running that long and still doing well enough the ratings/rankings i.e. Gunsmoke, Law & Order, NCIS, Grey’s Anatomy and more recently Blue Bloods.    Another point of interest is the unraveling of the 80’s sitcoms had already begun in the spring of ‘91. The first part of a Who’s The Boss? two part season finale we see here ranked at  #40 and second part ranked at #43 the following week. Growing Pains finale the previous week barely made it into the Top 30. The Wonder Years fared no better. Cosby losing ground, Night Court and Dear John just being there etc.

I haven't posted in a few weeks and have some catching up to do. But I did manage to look at the last two episodes after hearing about how good they were. I really enjoyed them. My thoughts on them: The affair/secret child reveal was very good. TMG was really good as Leslie, her whole confrontation with Ted/revealing all to the Duprees was very entertaining. I continue to love AM/Eva. She my top two favorites on the show (along with Nicole). I have a lot of sympathy for Eva and how she was conflicted/ultimately felt guilty about publicly revealing the truth to everyone. I wonder what will happen to her next, especially if she does go and live with the Doctor that is friends with Ted and Nicole. I lol'ed at how Martin/Smitty jumped up and grabbed Leslie when Eva was calling her crazy. The way they did that was funny to me. I haven't liked many of Martin's actions/his attitude especially regarding Smitty/his children, but I think it was interesting how he wanted to check Ted for his actions. And also wanted Bill to be questioned/confronted about his as well. I haven't been the biggest fan of the character of Andre, but I appreciated his calm and measured approach after the reveal and how he talked with Eva. I thought it was interesting that he knew about the affair and convinced Ted not to tell Nicole. Speaking of Nicole, I continue to love her character and view her as the heart of this show/Dupree family. I am interested in seeing where her journey goes as a character after this reveal. I'm looking forward to her leaning on Dani and (also Anita/Vernon, etc...) for a change.
