Where is the Comedy on Soaps?

Is there any?

Louise Sorel (Vivan on Days she was so funny)

The only one at all i can think of who is funny is Arianne Zucker (Nicole, Days)

But there really isn`t much funny characters at all, is there?

Arleen Sorkin (Calliope on Days was really funny)

Maggie Jones (Blanche, Coronation Street is so funny)

Paula Tilbrook (Betty, Emmerdale is also so funny)

Every soap should have some comedy characters, i think.

Anyone agrees?, What do you all think?......

There is comedy on the soaps, many times it's not done right though.

OLTL has comedic characters in the form of Roxy and David

GH has Spinelli, and usually those around him playing off his craziness. Maxie's one liners against Lulu are freakin hilarious.

ATWT has Henry

DAYS has Nicole and to a certain extent Nick (when he was funny). Jawn is also funny.

GH has a lot of comedy right now with Diane/Alexis, Spinelli, Maxie, etc.

OLTL has Tina, David, Roxy...the list goes on :)

AMC can be funny at times.

IMO, the ABC soaps are the only soaps that are comedic right now.

Y&R used to have Gloria with Joan Van Ark in the role. Now she's a tragedy.

OLTL: like the other posters said, David, Tina, Roxy

sometimes Nigel and sometimes Rex, depending on who they're interacting with (Nigel slapping Jared hard across the face and shouting "You idiot" and "I'm sorry" in the same breath was hilarious)

John McBain & Todd can be funny together, too

I don't watch the other shows but hope they have some comic relief too

Now she's a tragedy.

In more ways than one. ;)

ITA w/ Ryan's earlier comments; it's not a question of whether comedy still exists in daytime anymore. It does. As Ryan said, however, many times, it isn't done well. At all.

OLTL does comedy well and I usually laugh out loud at something in every episode. David and Addie are seriously bringing the funny right now, as does Todd whenever he's being a seductive little bitch to people.

ATWT has the greatest comedic duo of all time with Luke and Noah, though! I can never stop laughing when they're on!

OLTL, has some of the best one liners well delivered by any of the cast members at any time. David and Roxxy often get the funniest lines evey episode they are featured in.

I think OLTL does it best, as others have mentioned, Roxy and David are very funny. OLTL also did a couple of very funny standalone episodes a few years ago called "Trading Places" and "Babes Behind Bars".

The Bell soaps both have comedy. Y&R has Gloria, Jeff, Jana and Kevin; B&B has Pam and Donna.
