June 6, 200817 yr Member http://www.nydailynews.com/entertainment/t...back_to_li.html Soap Dish: A hardy Marty comes back to 'Life'By CAROLYN HINSEY Friday, June 6th 2008, 4:00 AM The mystery woman in Ramsey's attic is finally revealed next week on "One Life to Live" - it's Marty Saybrooke! "She went off the cliff, Ramsey found her, and he's been nursing her back to health," explains Susan Haskell, back as Marty after a 10-year absence (another actress later played the part). "She's not in any shape to leave on her own." Marty was presumed to have been killed in last year's accident. Though alive, she's unable to walk and has no memory, and Ramsey has been caring for her in secret in an effort to get back at good cop John, who loves her. "John has an idea something's up," says Haskell. "But by the time John gets there, she's gone." A series of wild events - Tina's return, a shootout for the Mendorran jewels and Ramsey's death - threatens Marty's life. "She's trying to escape because she hears all this stuff going on, but she physically can't. All of a sudden, Todd appears!" Todd is shocked to find Marty a) alive and being cared for by Ramsey. But there's no time for a stroll down memory lane. "He takes her to another place to take care of her," says Haskell. "Marty's heavily drugged because of the back injury. Slowly she comes to. He can tell right away she doesn't know who he is, so he fills her head with all sorts of stuff." But he leaves out his role in the gang rape of Marty at his fraternity house in 1993. "He's definitely manipulating her," says Haskell. "He's filling her in on what he wants her to think - that he's been wronged and John is the bad guy." Todd leaves out the fact that Marty has a son, Cole, who's dating Todd's daughter, Starr. "She asks him if she has a family, and he point- blank lies to her." In the weeks to come, people will grow suspicious of Todd's behavior ("Blair hears there's somebody at the house") while Marty slowly regains her strength. "But until then, I'm in nightgowns," says Haskell. "The wardrobe department is like, 'We're going to dress you eventually.' And blocking is very easy - I'm either on one side of the bed or the other!" Comings and goings: Cyndi Lauper performs for Luke and Noah on "As the World Turns" July 3. In related news, Tala Ashe (Ameera) is out. ... Billy Miller (Richie) exits "All My Children" this summer. Don't touch that dial: David confesses his dead wives and gambling addiction to Nikki next week on "The Young and the Restless" (CBS, 12:30). Bet that won't go over too well.
June 6, 200817 yr Member I usually hate amnesia stories but I'm-go figure-actually interested in this one. I just hope it doesn't drag out too too long. Thanks for posting
June 6, 200817 yr Member i have never been big on SH to be honest. i know thats like against the rules of soap watching but hey... I figured if i came out with not loving Martha Byrne then why not Susan H as well? lol. Tho i so hope they tangle John & Blair up more. and im happy to know they are not pairing Marty with Todd.
June 6, 200817 yr Member Not nuts about the idea of bringing John McBain back to increased airtime in a first string SL.
June 6, 200817 yr Member Ugh--to me that crosses Todd over into the "can't come back from" category. It also turns Todd into more one note--how many horrible things can we have him do...

Nah...look at Dorian. Tempting a man back into alcoholism...COULD be unredeemable...but we all know Dorian will lose and gain again and again. Same with Todd, if written right. I mean, the dude came from leading a GANG rape...with MARTY. Thus, I see no reason why he can't be redeemed.
June 6, 200817 yr Member I'd be lying if I said reading this didn't worry me. Really, Ron? Amnesia? HOWEVER... I'll go along for the ride. Marty regaining her memory and going after Todd with both barrels blazin' will be WELL worth it. And I trust Ron a lot more than I trust a 500 word article written by Carolyn Hinsey for the Daily News, based on a ten minute interview she did, probably over the phone. :-) Edited June 6, 200817 yr by brimike
June 6, 200817 yr Member Lol, brimike. Maybe he'll do the amnesia story well too...but if it's not it's ok. We're all entitled to our clunkers.

This could be Ryan Lavery with amnesia, and I still wouldn't call Ron the "h-word" yet. It takes a lot for me to call a writer that. And honestly, if I have to sit through a few months of Marty saying "Todd, you're my hero..." then you know it will be worth it when she finally regains her memory.
June 6, 200817 yr Member Oh, how quickly thou dost turnest against Big Ron! I'm going to wait to see how this turns out. IMO, it's about the execution of the SL and, so far, OLTL is delivering on that front, no matter how dry the SL looks on paper. As for SH, I always found her Marty overly saintly (after the rape, that is). It didn't make her a very exciting character to watch. CC, however, was badly miscast. She did not fit the character at all. Plus she has that panting thing going on. Whenever something bad would happen, Chambers' Marty would start hyperventiliating.

It's just we're weary of amnesia stories. Hopefully Ron will do it justice.
June 6, 200817 yr Member Uh oh. I HATE this kind of story. It's a good thing I trust Ron, because if it were any other writer I'd be REALLY worried about where this story is going. I hope this doesn't cross the threshold of good taste, and I hope Todd doesn't cross the line in other ways.
