I'm not overwhelmed by the Ali/Aaron chemistry, I'm just totally stunned by how quickly Chris went over to the dark side. He went from Ali's cheerleader to her biggest threat is 6.0 seconds. I completely understood when Chris turned on Emily....she had cheated on him and then set out to frame him for Dusty's murder. All Ali did was give him a case of blue balls. Unpleasant? I assume...but he's willing to destroy her over it? What a lout. That's what pushed me into Ali and Aaron's corner. But I will say, at least Aaron has something purposeful to do now.

And Bob's turnaround? WTH??? Three months ago, he was still all over Chris' ass for backing Evan and being too ambitious. Then he warned Chris not to get involved with Ali. He has ALWAYS (at least since Chris became an adult character) been disappointed at his son's lack of judgement. NOW suddenly, he'd rather deny Ali fair treatment than admit his son royally screwed the pooch again? His father Chris Sr, must be turning in his grave.

Even I will admit that Van and Jake were not at there best on Thursday's show. But I do think Van has what it takes to be lead, if ever given some material that makes sense. And while I agree actors should be able to make whatever garbage they are given work, that is not always the case. You all now how much I love Maura, but right now in my viewpoint she is not making this Holden crap work, and is not convincing me at all that she is starting to get attracted to Holden, and the script is calling for that right?. RH's Paul has been the same way for ages in respect to Meg, he at most times can not pull off that he is totally in love with her, and again mainly because the couple does not work and the stuff he is given is garbage to work with. I mean I could go on and on here on this stuff. Frankly most of the cast seems bored out of there friggin minds, and to me it is showing on screen. The only person who seems to love the current storylines is Jon Hensley, and that is probably because he is finally getting alot more material to work with.

As for today's show it was one of the better shows, mainly because the vets were in the storylines, and it was nice to see the family interaction, on of the things that made ATWT great at one point. Loved the location shoot stuff, hated the scripts involved with the whole thing. Chances are Luke and Noah will break up for a while which is good, because I look forward to the drama that will cause for them, and in those scenes I more then bet Van will show he is a good enough actor to be a lead, that if the writing allows it anyway, LOL. As for Jake, I think he has gotten alot better, but even I don't think he is totally near lead materail, though I think he could be someday. I just like how he is atleast finally getting to do some acting and some lines.

IMHO - a lead actor is someone who can take utter crsap and sell it.

I like Van, but he can barly sell ok stuff. he does do great at heavy emotional drama, IMHO, but youc an tellw hen he enjoys wht he does and when he doesnt.

Whatever tho, i enjoy Nuke. I didnt mind kevin and Luke. and I wouldnt mind someone new and Luke.

However the issue on ATWT is they write coupels or groups, not characters.

So then there are not many lead actors on ATWT? Because I think alot of there leads are not selling this garbage right now.

And I do agree with you leads should be able to sell the garbage. But at this point I don't think any of the leads on this show even care enough to sell it, LOL.

And I do agree with you about Van you can see what kind of stuff he really likes and wants to act out and the stuff he is not all to happy with, and that is something he needs to work on somewhat. I will say the same thing about Jen Landon though also, especially during her last year on the show, you could tell she hated the storylines.

And in my personal opinion which is probably wrong, but I think Van is probably sick of this storyline being trashed by the writers and PGP, not to mention I have a feeling this stuff has been re-written so many times that it is not even funny. Then again I think half the stuff on the show has been seeing as nearly nothing fits.

Van is by far one of the ebst young actors to hit soaps in a decade, i just dont think he is lead actory materal.

with Michel Park, IMHO, he acts out what they give him even tho its [!@#$%^&*] just like he does at whats good. I assume he is unhappy and doesnt like it, but i dont think his acting suffers from it.

I eman of course if you ahve nothing but utter crap for years its gonna take a toll, thats understandable, but i honestly dont thinkw what van gets is all that bad. his material is much better than most.

as for jen landon - she was a horrid crap actress he last year on ATWT - she was unahppy and didnt like what she had and thoiught she was above soaps. it was obvious. im glad shes gone.

Its messed up cuz of the families and the history that they have with their respective significant others...

I mean its one thing to pair Carly with someone like Simon or Mike. Or pair Holden with Bonnie or w/e. But Carly and Holden together just feels completely WEIRD to me.

Just like Jack and Lily would be just as creepy to me. Only cuz of the family aspect and the fact that for years the two have been more of friends or supporters rather than looking at each other as love interests...

Holden are Carly are without doubt perhaps the biggest image of plot point story telling, out of char writing, and big slap in the face of the fans.

that said, i like them. lol. but not in a OMG H&C forever! kind of way. In a this show sucks and this is stupid but the actors are good together and ill watch it kind of way. i eman... idk.. im not pro or anti. they are there and i see both sides. inf act thats an issue because to sum it up i feel nothing about them and as a soap fan to feel nothing is the worst thing.

I don't think Jen Landon ever felt that she was above soaps. I just think that she got tired of playing the same thing with the character of Gwen for so long. As much as people hated Cleo, I could tell that Jen was having fun playing that character for a change. Brooding, sullen Gwen probably got to be a pain in the ass to play day in and day out.

Same thing with Van. As someone who religiously read his blogs for at least a year and a half, just judging from his personality, I wouldn't say that he's unhappy being in soaps, but unhappy playing a character stuck in the same damn situation for the last couple of months. All throughout 2006, Luke's storyline was progressing and progressing as the year went through. There was always something new, but since God knows how long, all he's done is A: worry about Noah straying and B: worry about Noah's psycho daddy.

Maybe it's just me, but I love Jake's acting (most of the time). I don't know. He was great in Gossip Girl and the Noah/Maddie/Luke storyline. He still has to improve, but at least he wasn't like the actress who played Celia. I think he'll show off his talent once he gets meaty dialogue.

Good to see there are a few others who like Holden and Carly. I can't help myself enjoying their interactions. They sparkle together. I've been seeing some positive posts on other boards about them. It is horrible a storyline though. It is totally plot driven ignoring their characters' history with each other. I think Maura had a chemical peel. Her face is so red and shiny.

All the scenes with Van and Jake were dreck as usual. Having them on the show one day a week is gift to such consistently bad acting. When Noah was confronting his father on the boat, it was so pathetic. I think that Van has talent, but working as bad as an actor as Jake has made his performances weak. Van needs to be with stronger actors. Luke having more scenes with Lucinda would do the trick. He has done his best work with her. At least, it is a positive that Lucinda knows that her grandson is in danger because Lily, Holden, Aaron apparently don't have a clue. It is insane how isolated these families members are on ATWT.

The Hughes/Stewart feud isn't bad. I like seeing Tom and Bob along with Kim, Susan and Nancy. If Chris, Aaron and Allison were played by more talented actors, the story would be even better.

Van's had a year and a half to make his character work. Jake's had a year. How much more time do they need to connect to their characters? That's all I'm asking for. Yeah, it doesn't help that they're stuck (for the most part) acting off each other or God forbid even greener actors than themselves. They suck. They suck separately, they suck together. I only wish I had the moral courage to put in on a banner and fly it proudly.

Gay pride deserves better than Nuke.

I agree with you about the last year, but I think I'll go to my grave defending Van's first year. He was an outstanding actor and brought it every single time he came onscreen. He was new, this interpretation of the character of Luke was new, the storyline was new, everything was new and there was an excitement around it (and at that point, the excitement/buzz was still warranted). His best moment, without a doubt, was when he argued with Lily about the sexual deprogramming camp and ended up pushing her down the stairs. I watched the scene for days.

Ohh, I just say a spoiler that

next week. I can't wait. The one thing I wish is that Holden would seriously sit Lily down and explain his reservations about resuming their marriage and ask her straight out for a legal separation. This way NuLily will stop getting her hopes up only be crushed.

    • Annnnd it's time!!!   Oooo more developing of the Anita story.   Bill and these hand moments.   OOOOOOOOO...it's a Jazmen episode!!!   So Nicole is hitting the anger part of her grief, I see.    Hehe. TIDE sighting!!
    • -- Kai spends more time in the hospital than anyone I know. I've never seen a patient held back from being discharged like this guy. -- All this concern over Lulu's adoption story is wild. Just what in the hell in that story will upset people? Am I missing something?
    • Except she was the last to know yesterday
    • While I'm waiting for the new episode to start...let's talk about yesterday's episode.   I honestly really loved it. THIS is what I mean when I talk about how there should be an A story that is dealing with its fallout while the next A story is being built. And then there was even a C plot going on.    The fallout from the Silk Press Sheila/Eva reveal continued. And there were so many elements in play. Beats were being played. And I loved every moment of it. Ted/Eva defiantly going to the country club and being more successful at it than Bill&Hayley. I love that Ted is willing to fight for his marriage. I really want to see where it goes. I didn't like the town gossip, cuz we already have one in Nosy Nurse, but she did keep the tension up. The Nicole/Dani dynamic as sisters being in play...and I'll be in the minority and say that while Dani was Dani, I didn't find her being self-absorbed at all in those scenes. She has already been established as being willing to go there. For herself. AND her sister. So her going in on Ted and Eva was like her. Her dragging her sister out of the house was also like her. No problems. And I can't say how much I loved Jan getting her moment with Silk Press Sheila. Not to mention how much I LOOOOOOVE the showdown between SilkPress and Eva at Orpheny Gene in front of everybody!!!! Giving old school soap. And SilkPress's warning she got more up her sleeve (with a snap) was delicious. And awww at Martin comforting Eva. Kat ain't going to like that.   Speaking of Martin...IT'S HAPPPPENIIIIINGGGGGG!!! Now we are getting words from the night in question. So good to see them FINALLY building out that OTHER A story they started. And good on Martin for backing out from the presidency. I already said I love that the writers found a plausible reason for him to back out. The plot point served its purpose...to get a sense of Martin's personality. Now that he's been built up so we know what to expect from him, no need for it. Moreso since SilkPress's presence will continue to trigger that secret right out of him. Fingers crossed.   And while all that goodness was going on...we got a B plot in the form of Doug/Joey/Vanessa. I like it. It's been allowed to grow. All POVs have been seen except for Joey's really. So seeing him put Doug on the hook officially (so this should be climaxing by end of May then since Doug has one week?) because he wants Doug to move money through Vanessa's business. I continue to wonder where it will go now that I know (and apparently missed it) what Joey's endgame is. I mean...will Doug do it? Will Joey get payback on Vanessa? Or will Vanessa fall into Joey's bed? I feel the show has done a good job developing Doug and Vanessa enough that I am invested in the story. Sidenote...ask and I shall receive aka Dani/Vanessa brief moment at the country club. I really miss them together.    As for the C plot...well...I'm in the minority as well. I actually liked the Ashley/Derek scenes. Not cuz the typical soap himbo scenes...lol...but it was just a nice counterpoint from the other stories going on. And it was just nice to have an episode with A, B, and C stories going on and NOT be jarring and ALSO no quick cuts to another scene. It FLOWED. I actually like Ashley and while her last appearances in solo Derek scenes were DOA, I felt there was more going on. At least this time. It was building on what was already growing...Ashley's annoyance at Derek moving in. Derek...being a typical guy. I am hoping that will go somewhere. And I love that we got another Jan/Ashley scene. At the moment, it's the only thing giving us a clue to Ashley's inner life. That said...I really do want to see her out of her story bubble. There's so much potential with her and her career as a nurse. Moreso given what's going on there.    As for the mysterious stranger...well...I wonder how they are going to play it. Since most of us (but not all so not discussing it farther) know a bit about him.    As for the coda...it is bittersweet now knowing it was Maurice's last scenes. I mean...what do you all think? A nice point for him to stop? We got to see Eva accepting by the father she always wanted to be with since Day 1. Nicole looks on. Quite soapy.
    • I love the thought of Eva becoming this huge celebrity hairstylist, and the future character crossover that can happen with fun cameos, too.
    • I assume the target audience is as distracted as I am by the plot hole that University Hospital does not own a means of production for Versavix, and that's where the profits are found. Researchers at publicly funded universities can profit from successful drug discoveries, but it is often a small percentage compared to the profits of the pharmaceutical company.  Thus, it makes no sense why both Xander and EJ would try to buy the hospital (and its right to the invention).  As opposed to buying a pharmaceutical company, which would make exponentially more profit from Versavix, as well as the many patents that they now own on Dr. Rolf's research!   And, that if Xander benefitted from his wife's knowledge about a drug being researched at her hospital, and one day later he made a bid for said hospital, that's called fraud as it is akin to insider trading. For example, if my husband was a real estate agent, and he told me to buy this undervalued property because he knew there was a $1,000,000 diamond buried under the toilet.  That would be fraud, because his duty would be to get the best price for his client.  But, if he would directly profit, because as my husband he would get half of the profits from the diamond, that's fraud.  And that's what Sarah did. She waited until the hospital was worth nothing to tell her husband to buy now for cheap, because it will be worth a fortune in future because of the drug. Thus, she profits from the University's misfortune.  And once again, Sarah is the true evil mastermind of Salem.

    • Some other thoughts on today's show. I don't care for Bill/Hayley as a couple. I think that Bill is sexy and looked good on today's show. But I don't think that him and Hayley really have any chemistry. They seem mostly isolated on the show unless someone like Dani is sparring with one of them. I do wonder what is going on with Bill's hand and why it is trembling. He is trying to keep that from Hayley. I also don't care for June right now. I like Jacob/Naomi but would rather see them do something else than what they are currently doing with June right now.  I liked Nicole/Dani continuing to support one another after the fallout from their marriages. I think it's interesting that Nicole asked Dani if something was going on between her and Andre and Dani lied about it. I do wonder if Dani/Andre are starting to have stronger feelings for each other (maybe even falling for each other a little bit). It does seem like stronger feelings are developing between them and I wonder where that may lead for their storyline. And I enjoyed Anita/Vernon as well. I like that he supports her and wants her to do the reunion with the Articulettes. It does seem like at one of them really doesn't want much to do with her after she reached out on today's show. But maybe they will reunite and there will be drama between her and her bandmates. I am interested in seeing who the show may cast as her bandmates. I hope they get a couple of good actresses in the role.
    • Looks like the Townhouse to me, I've been calling it Paulina's Townhouse (which Marlena and Kayla also use).
    • Angela Bassett was also on somewhere in 1985 wasn't she. The NY soaps did so much for struggling actors. That's one of the reasons I will never stop hoping we get more of them.
