OLTL: Discussion for the week June 2-6

I look at today's show as mostly belonging to Jess/BreeW.

Has anyone mentioned the dream yet? (sorry if anyone has). So often, I've awaken from a not-so-nice, yet realistic dream to be relieved it wasn't real after all. The opposite has happened as well, we could see it happening with Jess. I can relate. For me it's happened most often with the death of a loved one /family member. The dream is the banal contentment of what real life was, what we know best. Waking up is the realization that everything has changed, and not for the better. If you've ever experienced it, you know what an awful feeling it is.

I am frigging LOVING this show right now. I didn't fast forward a single thing. I loved the slap from Jess to Natalie. I loved the way Viki comforted her daughter after she came down the stairs a wreck from her confrontation with Jess. I'm SO glad she didn't turn her back on Natalie. I loved all of the conversations with Jess/Viki and I loved that Jess apologized to her. I loved Todd and it's funny that she totally told him off and yet he was still living with her at Llanfair. They had a nice talk and the oreo scenes were probably some of the best of the day. And, the ending with Viki holding Jess was perfect. It was just enough that I let out a disgusted grunt that it was over and the immediately started looking forward to Monday. And, the Cramers had me giggling. I just love watching Dorian with all she ever wanted and losing everything at the same time.

I can't believe that hardly anyone mentioned Adriana and Dorian's scenes today. MF was the star of the episode as far as I am concerned. She turned in a stellar perform. The way she told Dorian that she was getting far away from her like Cassie and Kelly and that Langston would do the same thing will always be a classic OLTL moment.

Natalie sold that slap--it was awesome and something out of There Will Be Blood.

Adrianna blowing up at Dorian was excellent as well. Her last bit of redemption before leaving.

You're right Ann, it hasn't been mentioned enough. Melissa Fumero and Robin Strasser were brilliant today. I'm actually quite sad MF is leaving now, have been for a few weeks. A while back I expressed the wholly selfish sentiment hoping MF does badly with her primertime endeavors. I wish her the best, but I would also love to have her back as bitchybangs.

Oh, I mentioned it. I think it was the best acting I've ever seen from MF. Robin Strasser continued to bring different dimensions to the role. I love how Dorian can be so stubborn, but also show the cracks in her facade.

I loved this and I loved the slap. For very different reasons than most. I loathe Jessica! This scene relieved all the tension I was feeling and I couldn't figure out where it was coming from, until Jessica said this line and then slapped Natalie! Then I realized the tension was the result of that momentary lapse in my loathing. Now I am back where I belong. LOL.

The sheer absurdity of those words coming out of Jessica's mouth recalled all my familiar disgust for her that I've felt since she was integrated. A married woman having sex in a locked storage room that is burning down around her, is a desperate need to get laid. A woman running out on adoption proceedings for a child who has always known her as a mother and proceeding directly to having sex in the quarry in the midst of a torrential thunderstorm, is a desperate need to get laid. Jessica, having sex under those circumstances constitutes that everlasting, soul mate kind of love? Yet Natalie's feelings for Jared, which she fought for far longer than Jessica fought her feelings for Nash, are reduced to lust?

It's good to be back. :P

I really wish Adriana and Rex would work it out. I'm sick of people getting married and not even thinking about staying together because of one lie. Albeit a big one, I wish Carlivati would take marriage more seriously. This is unfortunately reminiscent of Jack and Katie's marriage right before he found out Carly was "dying" last year.

I really want to know where Jessica's relationship will go with Natalie. It's really wide open where that hatred will go.

Here's what I think (and bear in mind, this is only speculation on my part, and NOT spoilers or insider information):

Tess will ultimately re-emerge when Jessica cannot face life without her "soulmate," Nash.

As Tess, she will attempt to undermine Natalie's happiness by plotting to seduce Jared away from her. (By her and Jared's selfish actions, they cost Jess her man...so now, Tess is going to steal Natalie's.)

Natalie will feel guilty, of course, for Nash's death, but in feeling guilty, she will push away Jared, leaving him vulnerable to Tess.

Jared and Tess will become hot-and-heavy; Natalie will figure out that Tess is back and decide she (Tess) has GOT to go; Tess will fight Natalie and Viki every step of the way.

At some point, RC will find some way to reintroduce Miles/Alison/Mitch's DVD, and the fallout from that will not only affect Miles, but Jessica, Natalie, and Viki as well.

Then, Jess will re-emerge in time for her and Nash's second child to be born.

    • Randy (Doug's friend who works for Joey) -- Joey told Randy weeks ago that Joey's plan was to get Doug into so much debt that Doug would be forced to get Vanessa's real estate holding turned over to Joey, to use for money-laundering.  That's been the plan all along, which the viewers knew.  The only thing new is that Joey finally told Doug this. I think Joey is written badly.  I also think Jon Lindstrom is doing "Now I am going to act menacing".   But I don't really feel the menace.  It's too overdramatic and it doesn't feel like a real person.  Jon is a fine actor on GH, so I don't know what's happening here -- the entire BTG mobster premise is badly designed/written.  I don't know if Guza pushed for a mobster storyline?  Or did Jon?  (Jon wrote a novel about Hollywood mobsters). It just doesn't fit.  It feels (to me) like this storyline for Jon was just shoved onto the canvas but it doesn't fit all all. Monday's scene of Mona coming into the "casino" to check up on where Leslie supposedly lost money in the slot machines -- and Randy explaining to Mona that there are no slot machines, there is nothing but the card room.  I had to laugh because they had characters comment that it's just a card room and not a casino.  I had to laugh that the show is now acknowledging that there's nothing there.  Or if they are going to do this, then have it make sense for Fairmont Crest residents to visit a high-end glamourous casino, and not a random room with one table. So what money is Joey laundering? A while back, Joey told Vanessa that he knows about her sexual philandering because owns the escort service that she'd been using. But I don't care...  I'd just prefer that the entire mobster storyline go away.
    • I caught up this past weekend. The show is better written, but I have been bored with the show. I did notice it ranked in the top 5 again this week, so that's a good sign.
    • I can't take this show seriously. I truly miss WJB writing this show. Bradley didn't inherit his dad's talent.
    • Maybe if there had been a good close up or two
    • I haven't had a chance to view the interview, but I'm glad Mike didn't get the part of Derek.  Derek is a badly written character. Any Ben Gavin screenshot from yesterday's show?
    • Wait, what? So, Martin’s not running for President anymore? Just like that?  I didn’t expect this storyline to be long term but I would’ve liked to see it play out for a little while longer, or at least until Martin’s secret was revealed. And definitely not fade out with a whimper. Sort of like Naomi’s lawsuit against Bill’s firm; what was the point of it all if it was just gonna wrapped up so easily and (probably) forgotten about?  Eva is still the breakout character though. I’m looking forward to seeing where she goes from here with everyone, especially if the twist that we’re all suspecting turns out to be true.  And I did find the gambling storyline interesting finally, now that we know Joey’s endgame. I’d like to see it play out and to see what happens to everybody involved in it.  As for Derek/Ashley… I wonder how it would’ve played out if they actually had cast Mike Manning as Derek. Yeah, the writing isn’t there but I imagine that Derek would have more of a personality lol and I also imagine that it would’ve made Ron Carlivati’s head explode

    • That would've been a good pick! She was great on B&B and like you said, she's already in Atlanta.

    • Oooo. I like the current actress, but that's a pretty great choice.
