AMC: SOD Scoops

Thanks to betty at SOC:

Julia Santos is brutally murdered this week & dies on 5/27. Sydney Penny notes that AMC never seemed invested in Julia, & is disappointed in that. Sydney further elaborates that there is simply no coming back for Julia, whose gruesome death scenes involve "gargling blood". Julia's death conveniently coincides with the reveal that her daughter, Kathy, is Kate, Tad & Dixie's child. Julia will appear in a few posthumous scenes.

Also out is David Rasche (Robert).

Beth Ehlers is joining AMC - her character is yet to be announced.

Denise Vasi has been cast in the contract role of Randi, a hooker.

On 5/30, Dixie guides a comatose Tad through the life they might have had.

On 6/2, Annie is annoyed by how close Ryan & Greenlee are becoming ...the following day, Greenlee is unable to forgive Aidan...Ryan reaches out to Greenlee...Jesse teams up w/ Aidan to locate Kate...Dixie shows Tad the life they would have had...

SOD loves the Dixie ghost s/l, that is heading towards a happy endng of sorts, allowing viewers to enjoy the ride.

A viewer notes that Greenlee has made Zach unwatchable. How can a man who always fiercely protected his family befriend the woman who kidnapped Spike & later stalked Kendall?

Why the hell does Julia's death have to be so brutal, gurgling blood?

This is another mark of a dying show.

GL killed Maureen, and many people mark that as the moment at which a terminal diagnosis for the show could be made...that they so misunderstood their viewers.

More dramatically, AW killed Frankie in a similarly brutal way. And that really DID mark the final death rattle for that soap. (They brought back a lookalike eventually...but 'too little too late").

You know what is the LEAST they could have done? Since Noah is apparently dead, they could have paid Keith Hamilton Cobb a fortune for ONE DAY, and let ghost Noah lead ghost Julia into the light.

What is more ironic is this: They are doing all this nonsense to give closure to Tad and Dixie. So they realize these brutal ends alienate viewers.

BUT IN THE SAME WEEK, they do ANOTHER brutal end for Julia? Who was half of one of their big 90s supercouples??????

Today is a day where NOTHING is making sense to me.

I'm really shocked they are offing Julia. Sacrificing a beloved character with endless storyline possibilities for the sake of a .1 jump in the ratings...just another day's work, I guess. Pretty sad. This whole day has been utterly surreal.

And voila Tad gets Kate free and clear. Doesn't have to fight for her, or do anything to feel that he deserves to have her, ugh.

I so hope when Kate grows up she hates Tad, and she bonds with Adam-and sees Adam as a father type to her B)
