Katie's not a bitch. She's in pain. She has her BROTHER'S heart in her, who killed himself for HER, since SHE misunderstood what he was doing. Go ahead and make peace with that! She's mourning, she's just had a heart-transplant, she's in denial, she's shocked, angry, repulsed. Calling her a bitch is an over-over-oversimplification IMO. :)

Anyways, great episode. Nick is now far more tolerable--Alden paved this way for this less jerk-y Nick during recent weeks and I'm glad it's continuing. He was downright adorable with Katie and I love the underlying romantic feelings that his actions have. Ashley Jones was just fantastic. I'm very glad they let her show her grief and had Bridget accuse herself of what happened to Storm. Also nice to see Rick and Eric interract (was this their first one on one scene?). Poor Rick, Eric doesn't even think about him  And that ending scene was extremely great. Heather Tom has been nailing it. She should get an Emmy for this.

Great stuff from B&B today! Janice Ferri Esser wrote a very Y&R-like script in terms of dialogue ("a vessel for Storm's heart!") and I loved it! Nice stuff between Stephanie and Eric. I really love how they have captured both sides of the heart-transplant issue. You don't get too many multi-dimensional scenes on daytime anymore.

Heather Tom: I bow at your feet. You are a goddess.

Katie was right that Storm's actions should not be celebrated. This situation would not have taken place if Storm did not buy the gun in the first place.

Heather Tom rocked in her scenes today with Brooke and Donna.

I am really enjoying B&B. I haven't changed the channel once. All of the actors have shown such restraint, nobody has gone over the top. It's great. I really like Stephanie and Eric broken up but friendly. Susan Flannery looks like she's lost a noticible amount of weight, good for her.

The way B&B is right now is classic Y&R. It's that special brand of melodrama and darkness which made Y&R so compulsively watchable. Kudos to the whole writing team, it's great stuff.

Re the Katiee isee - I love it. She did have a role into the acoan that led to all of this. She overreacted, and rightfully show IMHO, and ended up getting shot. Storm did kill himself. Yes he did it to make sure katie would get aheart, but think of it from katies POV. Her brother killed himself so she could live. That must really suck for a person, honestly. I can see both sides of it. Donna wants to place Stormie on a pedistool. Katie cant do that, she feels resposable for what happened. Brooke seems to understand both sides. I love this storyline. Very good move B&B.

Also, i think heather Tom is playing this perfect. You can see the anger and pain as well as the sadness and the hurt all at once. Not over the top at all. But then again, this is heather tom. when is she not perfect?

I am also love the bridgett/nick situation. i am very intersted to see where it goes with bridgett/nick/katie.

me either. For once, Im on Donna's side. I loved her defending her brother. Im glad Katie feels guilty for what happened bc it was her overreaction which landed her in the position she is in. Girl better go sign up for some major therapy bc a super bitter Katie will be annoying as hell

It's Brooke and Donna's relentless propping of Storm's actions as "heroic" that grates on my nerves. They're not even saying it was a tragedy that Storm was so screwed up that his actions (re: Steph, Stephen and even his beginning obsession with Ash) lead to this horrible, horrible situation. They're acting as if everything had been normal in his life, and one day, his honor and duty led him to kill himself so Katie could live.

Also, I'm a little miffed Brooke hasn't been a little more focused on her last harsh words to him, and acting as if part of the reason he probably shot himself was because he didn't want to be someone's bitch in jail.

And how crazy it is that TWO CBS shows have stories about reluctant heart transplant reciepients going on at the exact same time?

    • Regarding the mobster storyline: The scripts, the cardroom set, and the writing for Joey -- are all terrible. They seem to be writing a realistic depiction of compulsive gambling as an addiction, showing that it pops into his head all the time -- it has become hardwired into his brain.  The APA (American Psychological Association) describes compulsive gambling as having a similar effect on the physical brain as drug and alcohol addiction. https://www.apa.org/monitor/2023/07/how-gambling-affects-the-brain I think Jason Graham (Doug) is doing an adequate job playing Doug as a compulsive gambler, with the thoughts/urges coming into his head all the time, and being unable to stop. However, the cardroom set is awful and the mobster storyline is a bad cliché, so it's all so uninteresting to watch. I think Mr. Graham is doing the best he can with the crap they gave him to work with. If anyone reading or watching has a gambling issue, check out Gamblers Anonymous.  They have many types of meetings -- in-person, online, video, audio, etc.  They also have resources for friends/family of compulsive gamblers.
    • Today was painful (especially for Philip).  I still feel for Xander. He was clear he was happy sharing and working with Philip. It's just one more betrayal from someone he loved. Going back to last year when he found out about Victor and Fiona, then Alex and Philip. He forgave and tried. Then Philip went behind his back again. He's been walking on the edge for weeks. This is a man who was abused, neglected and has never had any therapy for his horrific past. He has zero coping skills because he's never learned them. I hate this but I refuse to hate Xander
    • Lucy Coe wasn't even this big of a whore.
    • Kate being the one that Alex called was a nice surprise. The cut to her looking all sheek made me instantly get excited for her to get back into business mode. And the Jack reference from when she first came to town (on-screen) was inserted naturally which is always welcome. When they were talking about how much sex sells, I almost got the impression they were sizing each other up in a May/December type of way.  All the Philip stuff was gruesome. I'm happy the show isn't shying away from Xander's ugliness. I love them both, and it just makes me intrigued for the aftermath for it all to be taken seriously. I cheered when Philip spat out at that Sarah knew the truth. I'm on tenterhooks for their eventual confrontation. I was surprised that Kate wasn't a little vicious towards Sarah for Xander's obvious behavior, but maybe that's still to come. How wonderfully entangled is it that both Philip and Shawn/Steve stopped each other from getting the drug. Both equally at fault. Who/what will ultimately save Bo? And with everything going on, is a Salem where it's looking likely that EJ is about to own the hospital imminent?
    • Oddly.. Chase and Steve seem to have both vanished from the canvas in December so the Estelle return loses impact when two of her kids stop appearing shortly after her return (and I assume TR leaves in early 1986 as well). The Steve recast doesn't work... but it's odd that he has a long scene with Teri with Cagney looking jealous.. when the majority of his time on the show previously was a relationship and engagement to Stephanie (who he barely has a scene with in the episodes I see). Your idea for Wendy/Bela/Stephanie sounds just like what Ryan's Hope did with Michael/Kim/Rae... and considering Louise Shaffer was playing Rae and Stephanie.. it would have been a lousy redux of a superior story on another soap (that had months of build-up) I think Quinn becoming assistant to Stephanie was Mayer/Braxton... but not 100 % sure. I don't know if Mayer/Braxton was setting up Sarah as a bad girl disguised as a good girl.. but the actress (Joyner) was playing the scenes in that manner.. and Tomlin wisely tapped into that when he took over.
    • She’s such a caricature - which is a shame because I think the actress is capable of so much more.   I don’t know why Cady often feels like she has overcompensated in her performances. She already proved she can play much more than just Dixie Cooley during her first stint at ATWT (her best acting era). Her performances in various roles since then have been quite strange at times.
    • It feels like the show suddenly woke up today and remembered it was Sweeps month. Lots of action and forward momentum, including a delicious Nina/Carly fight.

    • Where did I say that you weren't allowed to say anything? Personally I just find "disgusted" a very strong word, and not something I would use for such a trivial matter as a song contest. You obviously do, and that's your prerogative, just as it is mine to disagree.
