I am enjoying Ron's version of Llanview immensely. Is it perfect? Is any soap perfect? unlike others who gave up, came back, gave up (I did much of the same), I was able to find, for at least a time, something to keep me watching with every regime. I have the callouses on my FF finger to prove it..The difference is now it has its heart back. I care again. And I feel Ron C cares too.

Anyone can say what they will about Ron. I have. And, quite frankly, there's still some things on the show that aren't gelling with me.

However, I think the one thing that I truly love about Ron is his passion for the show, his passion for the genre, and his passion for the fans. He seems to be one of the few individuals in the business that don't believe that daytime drama isn't good enough on its own and needs to be changed to emulate primetime, feature films, etc.

And the reason I know he has this passion is not through any interview or blog or what have you. If I had a dollar everytime a new headwriter or executive producer said that they respected the show, its history and its fans, I would have enough money to fund GL's budget for the next ten years. Hell, Mary Alice Dwyer-Dobbin practically had a standard script everytime a new team came on board and said it every single time. Their words mean nothing. Even Stern & Black, Kreizman, Weston, and the rest of the hired hacks in daytime have expressed this at one time or another.

But what I know about Ron comes from his writing. It may not be perfect, but it has heart. It has passion. It isn't trying to cause a revolution or reinvent the wheel. And I appreciate that.

I can't believe how much better Llanview is now that Higley's gone (and how much worse Salem is now that she's moved there).

The show may not be perfect but I'd like for anyone to point me out one that is.

IMO, RC is a miracle worker. He revived a dying patient. I just wish those viewers who Higley chased out of Llanview would return for another visit and see it for themselves.

    • No, he was pining for that walking sleeping pill Ashley, and then later texted Dani for a hookup when he felt lonely. He and Dani got into it a bit as she’s not ready to be seen openly with him still, and they both realized they were hung up on other people - Andre on Ashley (thought he never said her name) and especially Dani on Bill.  Of course neither learnt anything and then proceeded to have sex again.
    • I'm glad there's a pool set if only for the eye candy. I do think they need to be careful when filming. Today, the direction was off with Kai in the pool -- it looked like he was sitting in a wading pool, and it was clear there was no depth to the water. Also, as I mentioned before, the view from those large windows looks fake as hell.
    • From my notes: San Cristobal with an “a” is from ANOTHER WORLD. Mac, Carl, their fathers, Ian Rains & his father, and Paulina had history on that equatorial island. Paulina was visiting there researching her past & fell for both Ian & Jake McKinnon! San Cristobel with an “e” is from GUIDING LIGHT and is the island kingdom where Prince Richard & Prince Edmund were from. Others with history there were Reva when she was Princess Katherine, Jonathan, Olivia, etc.
    • Schenkel was indeed a disaster.     During 1985, the following characters exited the show: Brian Bancroft, Sandy Cory, Blaine Ewing Cory, Jamie Frame, the first Peter Love, Alice Matthews Frame, Ben McKinnon, Vince McKinnon, Mark Singleton, Perry Hutchins, Grant Todd, and Tony the Tuna.   The following characters were introduced and quickly disappeared Chris Chapin, Neal Cory, Dee Evans, Daniel Gabriel, Michaud Christophe, Edward Gerard, Daphne Grimaldi, Zane Lindquist, and Brittany Peterson.   The only successful characters Schenkel introduced were Bridget Connell, Vicky Hudson, and Jake McKinnon.   Schenkel recasted the popular Sally Frame with Taylor Miller when Mary Page Keller left AW.  Also, he recasted Peter Love twice in 1985 with Christopher Holder and Marcus Smythe.   Schenkel brought back Carl Hutchins for the Egyptian/Arizona treasure story with the poisonous dust.
    • Was Andre about to use the L word with Dani?
    • Honestly, she should have went splat on the bottom since it looks only 4 feet or less.  I stopped watching by that time, but since they were in L.A. I could believe it.
    • My mistake. San Cristobal. I've seen it as Alamainia, Alamainland, and my personal favorite, Ubilam ("Malibu" spelled backwards). I was sticking to non-U.S. locations, but I suppose Aremid could have been Canadian. Ah, yes. Haiti?
    • You're very, very welcome! Nice seeing things appreciated.
    • No, not just you. And I think I remember that set; honestly, a lot of the L.A. sets stand out more in my head, and their stellar outdoor scenes.
    • I think the GH pool set works. Ask yourself if there was anything wrong with it when Kristina crashed through Ava's window?
