Members DRW50
Failed series pilot about a pair of mismatched law partners who struggle to stay ahead of their creditors.
Members j swift
So that's the first attempt at a series for her, and then Palace Guards was the second effort? It feels like neither project was developed specifically for Ms. Walker's talents or appeal; much like Deidre Hall's failed primetime series. @Efulton I have a different recollection about the Hartley brothers. Nick was not really written off, he just disappeared, like a lot of SB characters over the years. And in Page Mosely's interview on the French SB site, it seemed like his character was killed due to poor chemistry with Kelly both on and off-screen. Dylan's death jump starts the romance of Kelly and Jeffrey, but it is arguable that the pairing might have happened regardless of the actress needing time off. Members Paul Raven
Would either of these shows been developed for Marcy Walker? I'd think that like hundreds of other actresses, she auditioned and was lucky enough to be cast. The fact that she was a popular soap actress may have been a negative in the minds of some or a non factor. How many interviews have we read of performers leaving their soap and talking about having to start all over again in primetime and that producers/casting directors don't have any awareness of daytime? Susan Lucci manage to score some TV movies and a guest role in the dying days of Dallas but stayed at AMC and had the highest profile of any daytime performer. But for everyone else, there was no favoritism.
Members j swift
She had a contract in the early 90s at NBC for primetime series and network movies, based upon her popularity (much like Deidre Hall, which is why I made the comparison). So, she didn't need to audition, projects were submitted. My point was that the projects presented did not expand on her talents or fit with her on-screen persona. Members j swift
that's a shame because the site is still updated regularly including this tidbit from a production manager interview last week Please register in order to view this content it is ironic, because if you think about it, there were so many more scenes of characters crowded around the front door of the Capwell house rather than in the atrium. Despite, all the pre-production publicity about the cost of the set, and faux painted tile floors that wouldn't squeak when the cameras rolled over them. Members DRW50
What were the original plans for Ted?
Members Paul Raven
Bar Girls and Palace Guard aired on CBS. So was she lured to CBS with a contract? A la Genie Francis?
Members Liberty City
Would also explain why the set was re-built, too. And damn... miss this site so much! Ugh! Anybody have contact for them?
Members dc11786
There is a fairly substantial time gap between Dylan's death in May, 1986, and Jeffrey Conrad's arrival in December, 1986. The Hartleys were specifically who I was referring to when I made my comment about actors who might have been sidelined by Wright's other projects. Even if Page Mosely's Dylan was set to be killed off, the obvious conflict would have been between Nick and Kelly trying to process the role Kelly played in the accident that caused Dylan to die. Nick doesn't disappear until November, 1986, so Nick does suffer due to this situation. @DRW50 I don't remember all the details, but Ted seemed more impacted by Channing's death in the bible than he did on the series. I want to say he was just more morose overall and that his initial summer romance with Laken was supposed to fade out, but it has been a while since I had glanced at the bible. I do remember the affair with the teacher and the implication that Ted had issues stemming from Sophia's death. Given that Sophia's return wasn't described in the plot section of the bible, I imagine things changed when Sophia returned.
Members DRW50
Thanks. I can see where they just phased most of the Ted material out and relied on Todd McKee being likeable and hot.
Members j swift
If Sophia's return was not in the primary draft of the bible, is there a reference to who killed Channing in that version of the story?
Members MarcyWalkerFan
Thanks...revisited this site after some time.. there is also a new interview with Stacy Edwards who portrayed the character of Hayley, nice insights about her time at SB especially working with Robin and Justin. Wonder if she was invited for the reunion, didn't think I saw her there.
