Basically, there is a big three page interview with Ken Corday on the state of DAYS. He talks about Dena Higley as the new head writer - he likes her and he likes that he has a female head writer and she works hard. He discusses upcoming storylines like EJ and Sami. He said that their story will be ramped up when Nicole returns to Salem. Corday says they had to put Sami and EJ on backburner - not in a negative way - in order to play out Marlena/John/Bo/Hope/Steve/ Kayla/ Ava storyline more. Look for more of the backburner characters to be shown more in the summer. Also with the return of Nicole, could Lucas be far behind? Stay tuned, he says. He says that Lucas had to pay for what he did but he (Corday) never thought of Bryan as off the show, so Lucas is coming back but not at this moment. But it seemed to me that Corday might be looking at quadrangle for these characters, he doesn't say that in article, but I think that's where they are going. Also, EJ will working with/for Mickey because the character needed to be doing something for employment.

There was some quotes for Brandon and Martha about their departure and Brandon is possibly a frontrunner for new Joey recast at One Life to Live.

Matthew Ashford has not been asked back to DAYS, and focusing more theatre work and he has a DVD of the movie he was in coming out soon. Judi Evans and Wally Kurth are also open to coming back to DAYS if they were asked. The article was generally positive.

DAYS is looking to stunt cast for the part of Ava's father.

Most of what's been perpetrated as crap on Days has actually come at the hands of Corday. The man can't stop interfering to save his life, and I'm afraid I know what's next.

Gotta say i'm looking forward to Lucas, Nicole, Sami and EJ.....i think this quad has great potential, mainly for SOLE..Which were one of the bright spots during JER's second tenure..Also EJ and Nicole could be very hot..

Or how about the cover of SOD where Hope says farewell to Bo? I visited this one message board forum and all of these people were like, "Write NBC and tell them what a tragic mistake it is to get rid of Bo!" Even my friends didn't believe me when I told them that Bo wasn't going anywhere because "If that's what SOD says, then it's gotta be true!"

And SOD got me one time and only one time back in 1998 when it said on the front cover: "GL's Annie Returns!" I was getting all giddy inside and started giggling like a sneaky little kid who just played a prank on someone. So, I buy my Ben & Jerry's and Soap Opera Digest at Kroger and I didn't even wait to read it inside the car. So guess what? Do you think I'm seeing pictures of Cynthia Watros in the magazine? NO! Instead, in the Comings & Goings section, it's a picture of Signy Coleman! I swear I threw that magazine right in the trash. I wasted a couple of dollars for absolutely nothing. But the Ben & Jerry's was good.

I doubt that Sloane (she does all the Days stuff) even asked about how Higley became HW, which should be the question asked but the mags are slaves to the shows now so...

How awful of SOD to get my hopes up about J&J. Just dreadful. Why mention something like that, especially when Missy did an interview in SOD a few weeks ago saying she was happy and not returning? Dumb SOD.

I would love Justin/Adrienne to return, especially with the Kiriakis fold getting more focus. I just feel bad because Judi Evans has to be feeling like Renee Jones. Coming, going, coming, going...make up your mind Corday. I do hope she returns with more purpose because she is wonderful and is us Kurth.

I am so excited for Nicole and I don't think we have to worry about a whole summer full of Nicole/Lucas/Sami/EJ and the young cast because I do think Higley understands balance. Really, Langan was the worst at it and Hogan's tenure was as well (although I blame Corday for that). Higley did have a good balance the first time around overall and so far so good here. I don't mind a Nicole/Lucas/Sami/EJ quad because it will bring Sami back to her edgy self and it could be fun. There is more of a good dynamic there.

I am also not surprised Corday said that [!@#$%^&*] about Lucas paying for what he did. He said the same [!@#$%^&*] about Lexie when she left too. As to his praise for Higley, it's expected. He praises all his writers, even if he really hates them. It's funny because all last year I read on many boards people wanted a female HW and Corday kind of implied he wanted it too. Weird.

Look forward to reading the whole article because it does feel like alot is missing. Higley only wrote for 6 months and I still think the reality crap was all Corday. Plus, I always get the sense that two months into her writing, she knew she was filling the position until JER came back. I think during negotiations it became apparent so not alot was done story-wise because nobody knew what was going on. As I read on another board, some times a writer is only as good as their EP. Wyman sucked so I think that hurt Higley and even Hogan early on. Scott will help things and he is one of the only reasons why I am not more concerned because he is not one to attach his name to crap. The Scott/Higley team may be good. We'll see. I just can't wait for the writing team's episodes to start because I think that will help things since many of the current stories so have potential. They just need what a writing team brings.

Alot of what Dena did at OLTL would work on Days because fanbases would eat some of that stuff up and Frons did influence her heavily, making her shove certain characters on fans, etc. I don't like her but she worked at Days for a long time and she at least knows the history. I'm just hoping for the best and preparing for the worst.

Oh, and about the Mickey/EJ thing, their better be more to that or I will be pissed. Mickey has to have more purpose then that.

As for quads and triangles, they will never be gone nor should they be. They are a soap staple. It's all in how you present them. They can't be forced and some characters are beyond that sort of thing. I don't think Lucas/Sami/EJ/Nicole are and this is much different then when Carrie and Austin were involved. Different dynamics. Also, a show can't have 3-4 triangles/quads going on and that is what JER did in his stints. The show was nothing but that and all of them were forced big time, which is a big mistake. One potential quad was mentioned here so I don't see it as a big deal.

It worked so well OLTL is fighting for last place. Fanbases and writing for fanbases is an ABC curse, and quads and triangles is what I expect from ABC. Say what you want about JER, he spent the majority of his time writing stories starring couples, singles and groups, not writing nonsense where couples replace the stories.
