March 23, 200817 yr Member I did not see any official thread covering this so I thought I would add one. The new suds report says that some cast are saying NBC will renew the show for 1 year, don't know how much truth is in that but I have a feeling that could be the case. As someone on another board said there will be no more 5 year renewals, but I do think NBC will give Days another year. What do you think? Edited March 24, 200817 yr by cody_1990
March 23, 200817 yr Member The Suds report said that word around the set is that Days is looking like it will be given one more year. It quoted an anonymous vet too who supported the word going around. I do hope Days is renewed, even if it is for one year. It gives the show time to adapt to the changes and get things going. They have made strides but there is a ways to go. If anything, the extra year gives Corday more time to find a new home if needed. If NBC does do this, I think Days can thank the strike and sweeps for it. I think sweeps gave Days a case to present to NBC to prove they can get viewers back and I think the strike and NBC's other issues prevented them from really focusing all that much on daytime so Days lucked out there.
March 23, 200817 yr Member Okay I am thoroughly confused: I thought the current Days contract expired in March 2009. If it is renewed for another year then that means the show will air until March 2010 which means Days will be on air for TWO years. Am I wrong????

Right now, Days is "guaranteed" to be on the air until March 2009 with an option in 2008 to pick it up for another year, that year being 2009-2010 (unless, of course, NBC pays off Corday Productions for a full year and just kills the show, but that's such a huge waste of money on NBC's part, I doubt it will happen) What's happening THIS month, is the decision whether or not Days will continue past March of 2009.
March 23, 200817 yr Member I hope NBC will at least give it until 2010. Nobody could/would have guessed in 2000 that Days, the God of the Demos, would be off the air before the end of the decade, PLUS 2009 is 10 years after AW went off the air (nobody would have guessed that in 10 years NBC would be soapless.) It's just too weird to have it done in 2009.

You sound like a broken record Phoenix.
March 23, 200817 yr Member I say just wait until we have OFFICIAL CONFIRMATION. I'm not wasting my time listening to an "anonymous vet," because why would the actor know anything about this? Just wait until NBC announces what it's going to do before hopes are up and the outcome is potentially something we don't like...
March 24, 200817 yr Member Renewed for only one measly year?! Why dont they just go ahead and give it another multi-year renewal instead of going through all of this again next year. NBC knows that people love it. They should want to keep it on their air no matter what because it's a show that usually proves it can bounce back in one way or another.
March 24, 200817 yr Member That's true, DAYS has proven itself to be a resilient soap that fans are absolutely rabid about. I suppose it'll all come down to dollars and cents. I hope it gets renewed.
