Days Renewal?

Recommended Posts

I did not see any official thread covering this so I thought I would add one. The new suds report says that some cast are saying NBC will renew the show for 1 year, don't know how much truth is in that but I have a feeling that could be the case. As someone on another board said there will be no more 5 year renewals, but I do think NBC will give Days another year. What do you think?

The Suds report said that word around the set is that Days is looking like it will be given one more year. It quoted an anonymous vet too who supported the word going around.

I do hope Days is renewed, even if it is for one year. It gives the show time to adapt to the changes and get things going. They have made strides but there is a ways to go. If anything, the extra year gives Corday more time to find a new home if needed. If NBC does do this, I think Days can thank the strike and sweeps for it. I think sweeps gave Days a case to present to NBC to prove they can get viewers back and I think the strike and NBC's other issues prevented them from really focusing all that much on daytime so Days lucked out there.

You are correct skiman.

It's an "option" issue. Right now, Days is "guaranteed" to be on the air until March 2009 with an option in 2008 to pick it up for another year, that year being 2009-2010 (unless, of course, NBC pays off Corday Productions for a full year and just kills the show, but that's such a huge waste of money on NBC's part, I doubt it will happen)

What's happening THIS month, is the decision whether or not Days will continue past March of 2009.

I hope NBC will at least give it until 2010. Nobody could/would have guessed in 2000 that Days, the God of the Demos, would be off the air before the end of the decade, PLUS 2009 is 10 years after AW went off the air (nobody would have guessed that in 10 years NBC would be soapless.) It's just too weird to have it done in 2009.

I say just wait until we have OFFICIAL CONFIRMATION. I'm not wasting my time listening to an "anonymous vet," because why would the actor know anything about this? Just wait until NBC announces what it's going to do before hopes are up and the outcome is potentially something we don't like...

Renewed for only one measly year?! Why dont they just go ahead and give it another multi-year renewal instead of going through all of this again next year. NBC knows that people love it. They should want to keep it on their air no matter what because it's a show that usually proves it can bounce back in one way or another.

    • Love this. And it would be part the show being meta again and a refreshing twist since the tale of a black family moving into a white neighborhood has been told, but the opposite...?

    • Really? But it was sooooo unrealistic. At least they found a legit reason for him to not run (SilkPress Sheila ain't no punk or joke...lol). Well tbf it sounded like he was joking. So I didn't think he was serious until yesterday. And I felt...THAT'S IT? So it's good he said it aloud to Doug's face so there was no way to mistake how the scene was played...which well I did. Seems so...simple?...given what's been at play with Doug and Vanessa.    +1. I agree.
    • I absolutely love the idea of Krista Allen being on the show. I wouldn't saddle her with Jen though. I'd create a brand new character for her. She could be a diva who lives Beyond The Gates and is gradually seen at the country club. Then I'd do a slow roll out where the Duprees don't like her and her family because she is part of the first white family that "infiltrated" Beyond The Gates. Then slowly...and I mean slowly...expand Krista's character's family as a rival to the Duprees as some have said the show should have. A younger son to mix it up with Chelsea/Kat, a daughter to maybe run for office against Martin. Krista Allen could easily be a great matriarch for a rival family.

    • They said Kate was on the board too.  I am confused if that's all new developments or we always knew that.  I really have no idea why Kate would be on the hospital board.

Whether it's an opportunity to learn, or whether it's to make a connection, or whether it's to find love which you didn't think existed, these are gifts from god & to throw them back in his face is something unthinkable to me."
    • That would make sense; he is to DAYS as the Quartermaines are to GH, in terms of the hospital board. If only DAYS had a hospital worth being a board member of.
