March 14, 200817 yr Member GL #1 in girls 12-17 for the 2rd week in a row , what's their teen scene like? We'll let you know as soon as we see one.
March 14, 200817 yr Member I hated Melaswen too - the actual story telling that we saw and the conclusion (what you mentioned) was absolutey horrible. But the idea of it was brilliant. I'm pretty sure that Melaswen was part of Jim's "two hour pitch" that he gave Corday. He had at least his whole first year planned out and maybe even more. But once Corday pushed up Jim's timeline, it threw everything that he pitched out the window and once that happened, Jim got fed up and just stopped caring. That's just my theory. I don't have any inside info. I often think about the disturbing "Bizarro-world" aspect of Melaswen, and how it would have translated had someone like Ed Scott been in control. I would have loved to see sets that are SO CLOSE to the sets in Salem, but something was... off. And how off-balance and "vertigoed" (yes, I know that's not a word) the victims felt when they woke up. It should have been dark and edgy and creepy, and I think we all would have been more forgiving. But instead it was over-lit, campy and silly. Oh, how I wish ES had come years before...

YES! Oh I can just imagine what Ed Scott would've done with the SSK! Instead we got Wyman's production.
March 14, 200817 yr Member Khan, you didn't step on my toes and I apologize for the misunderstanding. It was a very bad attempt at humor on my part. Your post was so well done and I though, what a nice post, that is what I was trying to say. LOL. I'm sorry, it was a joke on my part. I thought your post was excellent. Cool! Thanks, Jess.
March 14, 200817 yr Member Frons or whoever in charge of the promotional dept. at OLTL actually thought viewers wanted to see adolescent Starr in a baby voice say "make love to me Cole" is smoking something fierce. Who needs "How I Met Your Mother" when all the funny's right here on the SON? and coop is hot. And now, I'm the one who has no words. But once Corday pushed up Jim's timeline, it threw everything that he pitched out the window and once that happened, Jim got fed up and just stopped caring. That's just my theory. And it's a darn good theory, too, Toups. Now, justify - I mean, er - explain Aremid.
March 14, 200817 yr Member It's interesting what people think the salvation of OLTL is. Personally, I think BW is a great great Jessica and believe it would be a huge mistake to bring back Erin Torpey. I also think it stinks that everyone thinks the answer is bringing back Clint Ritchie or Roger Howarth or any other original actor. The show is the character, not the temps who play them for 1, 10 or whatever years. And yes, I know, you all grew up with The Virgin Jess. The actors on the show are just fine IMO. With the exception of ES, Robin Strasser and maybe RSW because of his importance to the other actors, anyone is replaceable. I actually prefer BW in the role now than ET. I also agree that Clint Ritchie and Roger Howarth are not the solutions to what ails the show or the characters of Clint and Todd. I also think that as a general rule any character can be played by multiple actors. However, I don't think the replacements are working like they once did. CC's Marty was not a case of an ES taking over a prior role and making it hers. Somehow there has to be a middle ground between viewing an actor as a fungible unit and a sacred cow. March 14, 200817 yr Member What time is GL on in most places? because here is in the timeslot that pass was in, and i assume when PASS went off the air and they started watching GL. Besides bill/lizzie has that kinda romance that can draw people oin, IMHO. and coop is hot. I believe in most places GL airs at 3:00 competing with General Hospital. It's been like that ever since I was born. But in some other markets, it airs at 10:00 eastern time and 9:00 central time. I believe in Chicago, they switched it back to 2:00 but in places like Michigan, it still airs at 10:00. However, in places like Sacramento, California Guiding Light doesn't air at all. But I guess to answer your question about Passions, I believe Passions viewers had three or four soap alternatives. 1- Switch to DirecTV 2- Switch to As The World Turns 3- Switch to One Life To Live 4- Switch to One Tree Hill on SoapNet ETA: Leah Bauer is a teenager as well. So altogether, you have Daisy, Rafe, and Leah. Edited March 14, 200817 yr by Noel
March 14, 200817 yr Member GL #1 in girls 12-17 for the 2rd week in a row , what's their teen scene like? I've watched a few times never really scene any teens to speak of. I can't speak for everyone, but way back when I was in that age bracket... I didn't watch GL for the teen scene. It was Josh/Reva, Roger/Holly, Vanessa/Billy/Nadine, A-M/Blake, and later on the Blackout and the Daniel St. John story. I honestly couldn't have cared less what the teens were doing!
March 14, 200817 yr Member Newsalem - Pure Brillance? To me - Pure [!@#$%^&*]. Roman, for once we agree. Only two good things from that - We got Suzanne Rogers back, even if she is only used once a month it is better than never. And the other was that moment Maggie saw Marlena and had the machete in her hand.

March 14, 200817 yr Member Well, to be fair not everyone has direct tv or soapnet.... but small details. Well Jack- those were the only alternatives I could think of. Or watch what they air on my local affiliate- Law & Order. But I like As the World Turns I guess.
March 14, 200817 yr Member Come on, Chandler. Clowns are love, and you know it! LMAO. I mean, you're probably just another, rabid "Evangelin-ista"... but damn, that was funny. (Don't worry, marceline. I wouldn't hold the Evangelove against you. Just ask ZENDALL FAN.) That's nice of you to say but if you want to have a discussion with me could you show me the respect of agreeing or disagreeing based on the things I actually say and not "profile" me? I don't like Carlivati's writing. I liked Malone better. I'm an even bigger proponent of bringing in fresh blood for all soaps. Why can't that just stand on it's own? I've read whole manifestos against Guza and for JER, against McTavish and for the Bells. Why is RC sacred? Why does the fact that I'm just not impressed mean that I'm probably, possibly, could be a member of The Others? Why is it so hard to believe that I find the renewal of the Nora/Lindsay feud just as flat and disappointing as "3 women, 1 sexy man?" And that has nothing to do with Evangeline. (BTW if you want to see me get rabid about something, let me get started on OLTL's treatment of Dan Gauthier. AFAIC they deserve to tank for that alone.)
March 14, 200817 yr Member That's nice of you to say but if you want to have a discussion with me could you show me the respect of agreeing or disagreeing based on the things I actually say and not "profile" me? Deal. But I wasn't profiling you! I was attempting humor (and as always, failing miserably).
March 14, 200817 yr Member Deal. But I wasn't profiling you! I was attempting humor (and as always, failing miserably). My apologies. I love good sarcasm and it just can't survive on the internet. Damn! I pulled out one of my best soap box speeches too.
