Members Y&RWorldTurner
OK, now that you know who and some of her hack team are gone, who should be the new Head Writer of the show? I think Sony/the Bell's/Josh should really give Trent Jones a call, he isn't writing for anything currently and once served as Alden and Smith's Co-Head Writer. If that doesn't more than qualify him for the job, I don't know what does. I'm also open to Jack F. Smith coming back, but I really have some problems with that guy. You know, Jill and Kay being mother and daughter, then being backburned, then the whole Sheila fiasco, also Smith told the fabulous Tricia Cast that there was "no place for you on the show." Anyway, what's your idea?
Members Soapsuds
Please no Jack Smith. He was horrible. I like Trent Jones as a possibility. How about Hogan Sheffer.
Members Khan
Sorry, I have to go with my gut on this one. Kay Alden, all the way. But maybe, Trent Jones can co-head?
Members Y&RWorldTurner
What about Natalie Minardi Slater? She was Kay Alden's protege for close to a decade, is she really up to the task of being Head Writer? I wonder if Josh Griffith will get a Co-Executive Producer as well or if Sony will clean house and fire him, despite him being there for the show during the strike. Members brimike
WorldTurner, you beat me to the punch. I'd love to see Natalie Slater tackle it. Even though she's never been head writer before, she knows that show like the back of her hand. And I could forgive a couple stumbles here and there as she gets her feet wet - at least those characters are probably like family to her, and nothing she falters on can be worse than the last year. (I know - famous last words)
Members DevotedToAMC
They should just bring back Kay Alden. She is one of few soap writers these days who gets it
Members Y&RWorldTurner
Since Kay Alden went Fi-Core, I doubt she'll be Head Writer of any show soon....
Members Jonathan
How about putting B&E at Y&R and placing Kay Alden at AMC (where she should've been hired at in the first place)?
Members Y&RWorldTurner
Um, how about throwing B&E off a bridge with Latham?
Members DaytimeFan
Here's my dream team I would love to see Trent Jones and Natalie Minardi Slater (Alden's ordained successor after all) tackle it together as Co-HW's. Coupled with that is Kay Alden on staff as a Consulting Producer. Since she went Fi Core she really can't ever be HW, but as a consulting producer she could be there for support, nixing storylines, giving background info, general vetting. However they structure it Alden should be a part of it. I give Jack Smith a pass for the absolutely horrific tragedy that befell his family. But I don't want him back at Y&R. Here are my two concerns: we didn't hear that Scott Hamner's been fired. And I shudder to think of Michael Malone joining his pal Josh Griffith. Members MoTheGreat
They need writers who knows the ends & outs about Y&R. That was Miss Rainbow head biggest problem. She fired everybody that knew Y&R & brought in her own team. Another thing No More Recycle writers.
Members Y&RWorldTurner
Natalie and Trent being Co-HW's together would an IDEAL situation, you'd have some new vision with people who trained under both William J. Bell and Kay Alden. I really hope Sony/CBS/Bell/Griffith sees this thread....
Administrator Toups Posted February 14, 2008 Administrator Share Posted February 14, 2008 Definitely someone who worked with Bill Bell for many years. Trent Jones, Natalie Minardi Slater, Janice Ferri Esser.......all fit that bill.
Members DevotedToAMC
LOL! I do not know how the Y&R fans would feel about the show destroyers at their show after getting rid of one destroyer...but it would work with me Odds are, if B&E were head writing Y&R, they would do what they do to all their shows and take it to last place in the ratings...even though Y&R is no.
Members Y&RWorldTurner
Here's my question, does Sony even want to hire anyone who worked closely with Bill Bell for many years? They've listened to the fans by firing Latham, despite her Emmy and WGA wins, hopefully they listen to the fans and hire a Head Writer who trained under William J. Bell and Kay Alden....
