Days: Another Major Contract Actress Let Go!

There could have been so much that could have been done for the role of Kate...but every time they had her on screen, she was bickering with Sami, meddling in her children's lives or blackmailing teenagers to doctor paternity tests....

There is only so long one can continue to box an actress into a corner....

It's unfortunate that all of these people that have been playing characters with great history are being let go for newcomers that we most likely won't get a back story about...

I am so pissed by this news. Days is firing their notable people left and right, and if it keeps up(which with Higley here I know it will) this show is gonna be unrecognizable, and then cancelled.

This is the end for Days. After all of this insane news the past few weeks, I just know it is.

It's because Days has no long-term plan and nobody knows what the hell they're doing (aside from ed Scott, who has no say when it comes to story). One minute, they're ready to write a character for three more years... the next minute, they change their minds. Back and forth, back and forth. Just look at how many times they got rid of Renee and brought her back, then got rid of her and brought her back again. If there was any long-term plan, that wouldn't happen. You would either stay or you would go. You certainly wouldn't be signed to a brand new contract and then get dropped the following week.

Idiots. I swear to God, they're all IDIOTS.

I have no words... I'm so pissed right now I can barely even see straight.

I don't understand any everyone says that Kate should've gone anyway, because she's "just a boring meddler." That's the thing... she doesn't have to be a boring meddler! Why would such an amazing, incredibly actress be fired because of the fault of the writer? It's not fair, it's not right, and she's far too talented to just go like this.

Kate Roberts was my favorite character from 1998 - 2003. She is what carried me through the wretched years of SSM, Langan, Higley, etc. I could watch her read a phone book and I would be thrilled. She's one of those actresses that just hits you over the head with her sex appeal, and anything she does is just fascinating. I love to watch her move, I love to hear her speak... she's just amazing.

Days will never, ever be the same without her. I hope Higley burns in hell.

Speaking of Higley, why the hell is Corday giving her all this control?! Look how she's proven herself in the past. She turned Days into a boring pile of dreck, then she went to OLTL and sent that show completely to hell. Now she's back at Days and Corday just allows her to dismantle every show staple they have?! Ugh!

All of the Kate/Roman fans at SoapCity were thrilled at the idea of Higley writing the show again, because they said that she wrote Kate/Roman wonderfully in 2003. I told 'em... don't assume she'll do the same again. The woman's a poison. Nobody believed me, and now look. Lauren's gone. [!@#$%^&*] Higley.

If by some mistake Higley isn't actually writing right now and it's just some random scab... then [!@#$%^&*] THEM, TOO!

Just come watch OLTL, kittens.

I feel for you, I do, but I tried sticking with Sheffer, and after the first six months it was clear everything was transitory and Corday was congenitally incapable of allowing anything to play out.

OMFG. I am not happy about this at all. Next to Deidre Hall, Lauren is my favorite on the show and has been since she started (yes even through all her character's missteps). In fact, she was one of the main reasons I watched, especially through those dreadful 02-03 years. She is such a wonderful actress and should have been given a decent story. What a *gigantic* waste of talent. I'm even surprised Lauren agreed to stay as long as she did with all the whale blubber they throw at her. But whatever she got, she acted the hell out of it. After all these casting changes, all these pointless characters get to stay??? Shelley Henig's acting makes me cringe...literally, Steve & Kayla are awesome but are painfully boring and swallow up unnecessary airtime, and Chloe needs to go back to wherever she came from because I for one am not feeling the "revamped" version of her. Even if I did warm to her, I wouldn't want to sacrifice *much better* actors/actresses and/or *much better* characters for her. I will continue to watch naturally, BUT I can safely say DAYS is done. Ridiculous and they deserve everything they get. >:(

I could be happy to see her come back to B&B, where she could assume the role she was always meant to have: Margo Lynley...the NEXT "Stephanie Forrester".

Young, dynamic, sensuous, I'd love to see her do battle with Eric's bimbos.

I never thought i'd say this but I'm pretty sure I'm done once Kate and Belle stop airing.

LK is my favorite actress on the show, and I'm just in shock all over again. At this point I don't care if the show continues on. No one I enjoy will be there anymore anyway.

    • I don't expect Lois to be the same person she was 25 years ago, but she's definitely lost a lot of what made Lois unique.  It's clear the show doesn't know how to write for her, and the sole purpose of Lois is to hide this Gio secret.  It's a shame she doesn't interact with more of the canvas.  It's a waste of Rena's talents. I like Brook Kerr most of the time.  She can be hit or miss.  I totally get what you are saying about her line readings too.  I honestly think the character really suffers being stuck in the Curtis pairing.  She's much better than Tanisha Harper's Jordan lol.
    • Friday and yesterday's episode is what daytime television should be. The other shows airing could take a page from yesterday's show.  I loved the rage, hurt and anger Nicole unleashed on Ted.  Daphnee should be up for an Emmy nom for these scenes.  It broke my heart to see how Dana had locked Eva out.  I do feel sorry for Eva.    I am still bumfuzzled as to why Leslie/Dana went to the DuPree's and asked them to accept Kat UNLESS Eva is really Kat's twin (and really Nicole and Ted's daughter that maybe they though they lost or an embryo Dana/Leslie stole??) I loved how Anita and Vernon both shot her down.    Ohhh and let me just say Friday and yesterday was the MOST fire I have seen Martin have since the show started.  Maybe Brandon Clayborn is coming into his own with the role finally.
    • You've been seeing him all along. You just didn't know it was him, I guess.

    • Where to for Dana? She's pissed off the Duprees (most of the cast), alienated her daughter and will she be welcomed by the Have Nots at the diner? Maybe she can befriend Ashley and Derek and liven up their story.
    • Melissa Ordway announced she was moved to recurring back in November but is still credited with the contract cast members.
    • I think of Evan as a smarmy bast*rd. Maybe you'll like that description. You certainly have him pegged correctly since he is just a soldier following "Admiral" Iris's marching orders.
    • So far the only interest I've seen from Evan to Amanda has been listening to Iris's orders to go and seduce her.  So far he hasn't been successful... but who knows. Amanda is unbearable at times. Entitled, spoiled... idiotic. Iris... so blatantly manipulating her and Amanda takes the bait. But I guess... when she gets in trouble... she'll have a chance to learn. That's what makes these shows so interesting.    Oh, no, don't worry. You haven't ruined a thing. Evan has not been on my radar that much... he was not one of the characters I was caring particularly... so nothing much has been changed for me. I don't think he has the stuff to ruin Rachel's life. He's just a pretty guy that can follow orders. Iris on the other hand... is dangerous.

P.S Maybe Evan will surprise me. Who knows.
    • The show has gone back to 10/10 entertainment! I'm glad that I was right in feeling that what were experiencing were growing pains. I'm sure they are not over yet, but I'll know that we always comeback to quality drama. I think it's going to be a hell of ride (in a good way) from this moment on. BTG has that magic that not a lot of shows have. I'll update more... when I'm done catching up.
    • So very glad to hear this. Yesterday I suddenly thought; OMG, what about spoilers, have I just  ruined things for Maxim in getting carried away with interest in Evan, who was so well-written & well-acted. BTW, your fan review of this episode was a sight for eyes that had not seen one of these for a little bit too long, LOL!!!  Mitch is also fascinating to me but in his case it's because he was all in with Janice & her nefarious plan & then he did this turnabout we've mentioned & he basically got off scot-free.
