He said in his blog his last episode was supposed to air on Friday, 2/1 - but that whole week was uncredited. My guess? The scabs rewrote that whole week of episodes. So it was probably the week before (which I believe was the week John tried to escape from the hospital, and was stopped, but I don't know which episode was his)

I predict that, because of what a staunch supporter of the strike Michelle Patrick was and the fact that B&E went fi-core, she won't be around much longer at AMC. She will either quit, (not wanting to work under B&E) or be let go by B&E.

Which is sad because, with Karen Lewis gone, Patrick is AMC's most valuable resource on the writing team.

Michelle Patrick is far from being the only one at AMC that is staunch pro-union. Addie Walsh, Stephen Demorest, Jeff Beldner, Marla Kanelos, and Courtney Bugler are ones that I know are very supportive of the union. Marla Kanelos had that big article that said, despite the adoption fees she has to pay off, she'd rather work at Starbucks than cross the picket line. Courtney Bugler said because of how the WGA covered her medical costs when she had cancer, she could never cross the picket line either.

Demorest, Walsh, and Beldner have been very active in the WGA and have contributed a lot of their personal time and money over the last several years.

Writers don't get rewards for going FiCore, sorry to say. Basically, the networks love them when the strike is going on because they're union writers working when no one else is willing. But, it's a weird dynamic in Hollywood. The writers & nets have been warring for the past three months, but if they know how to do anything, it's to forgive & forget VERY quickly (Jeff Zucker, that ass, excluded). Now that the strike is over, the WGA and the networks will resume their very tight relationship, and I can see a lot of soaps humping & now dumping their FiCore writers, just because they betrayed the union and because the WGA will pressire them to get rid of them and making it hard for them to receive & maintain employment.

While going FiCore is legal within the guild, keep in mind that the WGA never wanted its members to have that right in the first place. If I recall correctly, the WGA battled in court shortly after the '88 strike, and tried to prevent their members from being given the right to declare FiCore. They lost. So while their members do have that right, that doesn't neccessarily stop the guild from treating its FiCore members like second class citizens and making it extremely difficult for them to get employment & support from within the guild.

SAG also views its FiCore members unfavorably. There was one actor -- Jon Voight, I believe -- who went FiCore a few years ago because he wanted to work on a non-union project, and he was basically burned at the stake.

The WGA will do anything to hurt the FiCore members professionally, because they're essentially traitors.

So I think the networks will move, within the next year, to wash their hands of FiCore writers. Not just headwriters like Brown & Esensten, but the staff writers (Conforti, Wolf, Ford). I don't think Kay Alden has much to worry about because CBS really can't touch B&B.

Yeah I think slowly but surely the networks will wash their hands of the Fi Core writers. But again, I think Kay Alden hasn't got a worry, she did Brad Bell the biggest favor, ever. CBS doesn't have any power at B&B (Brad leaves the phone line to Barbie Bloom off the receiver). The Bells practice this little principle called loyalty, it's a good one.

You'd think other shows/networks would learn something from... oh, say... THE NUMBER ONE RATED SOAP FOR TWENTY YEARS?

The way the gossip mill is running these last couple of days, I'm trying to find one freakin' soul in MOST of the people working behind the scenes right now. And I'm really coming up empty.

Andrew Lee directed the remote sequences on AMC today. This looks suspicious......He hasn't directed for AMC since July 18, 2005....and AMC couldn't get one of their contract directors to do the remote? Alos, he's been directing exclusively for Y&R since 2007, so I'm wondering if he was fired. Hmm......Y&R cleaning house in the directing department too?

Where did AMC film the remote scenes? They usually call on him to direct remotes when they're outside of NY (the last time he directed, the remote scenes were done in California. He also did the baby switch scenes in Florida).

How great would it be if Y&R's cleaning house in all respects and getting rid of any and everyone Latham hired? I'm sure Sally McDonald and Dean LaMont can build a new directing team of sorts...

Toups, what is Jim Houghton doing these days? He last wrote for B&B back in Dec 2006. I wonder if he could return to write for Y&R because he worked on the show for at last 15 years.

I hope they get rid of that DREADFUL casting director who is a FOLML from the flop Wildcard. She's a horrible casting director who clearly goes for looks and not substance. If any of her casting choices (like Eric Steinberg) can act, it's clearly luck.

If LML heads to another soap or another primetime show, Karen Rea (the casting director) will probably be the first one to follow her, since she was the first person Latham brought to Y&R I believe.

I hope you're right. Karen Rea is horrible and I'd love to see her far, far away from Y&R. I know that's not something the typical Y&R fan is looking for, but I've noticed her horrible choices. Marnie Siatta was very unique in her choices and always surprised me. I also love the fact that she managed to go from Y&R receptionist to Casting Director over time. She truly earned her position and nothing was handed to her ala LML and her friends.
