And I'm laughing with him. That's what Ken gets for backstabbing Reilly when Reilly got DAYS back to #2. DAYS was high the ratings, high the key demos and yet Ken wanted Reilly gone. That's what you get Corday! You mismanaged your show! I love it that Jim is having the last laugh over that idiot.

Someone mentioned that TV Guide did a story on both DAYS and Y&R and the contrasts between the two shows in the two articles were evident. They talked about still paying JER off, the pay cuts, budget issues, and growing lack of morale on the DAYS set. In the Y&R article, they talked about the show making it 20 years at #1, the high morale on set these days, and also talked about some RESEARCH they did that claimed their audience wanted romance, the CHARACTERS they loved, and HIGH production values.

Cherrill was the script editor on OLTL under Malone/Griffith: Take Two. (Leslie Nipkow replaced him when Dena Higley became head writer)

I don't know what that's worth, but if you thought the continuity and dialogue were all right during those years (I know many had issues with the stories, but I'm just talking about dialogue and continuity), then yeah - you'll think he's a good addition.

His contract was likely a "play or pay" deal. This means that either they "play" him, as in he writes the show and gets paid for it or they "pay" him for doing nothing at all for however long the contract runs for, in JER's case multi year. JER also didn't have any cycles in his contract, his contract runs till it's over.

It's the best kind of contract. When written properly it's ironclad.

That Reilly contract, from what I understand, has long been considered the Holy Grail of daytime contracts. Nobody's gotten it before, and nobody will get it after. It was a once in a lifetime "You want my client back? Then you'll pay for it" kinda deal. Nobody will ever sign for anything like that again.

Not quite sure how it works now, post-mortem (not to be macabre).

    • Shari Anderson was also head writer for a few months before the strike began.
    • I would agree.  Does anyone ever notice in Jan 1988/even Dec 1987, the show started to refer to characters from the past and mainly the Frame family?   It sounded like Lemay talk.  Jason Frame mentioned his sister Sharlene in early 88 but the ending credits still listed MD has head writer and I think Lemay was about to take over at that point.  The show hired Lemay back I believe to prepare for the 25th anniversary and try to recapture the audience that was lost by bringing the past back up.  Then the writers strike happened and all of a sudden the writing changed except when Sharlene Frame came back and we heard more family chatter again.  Maybe at this time they knew the strike was coming near to an end the producer forced the scab writing team to introduce Sharlene. I suspect even though Lemay was not writing at the time, the intent was he is coming back and the show consulted with him on his future storylines.
    • -- My Laugh of the Day goes to Carly calling the Metro Court a "five-star hotel." -- It's crazy, but what Drew did to Wiley makes Drew come off worse than if he actually murdered someone. -- Cynthia Wattros really needs to lay off the Botox. Because her face doesn't move, she's doing WAY too much with her eyes. -- Josh Kelly is looking so good with the new haircut. -- Rory Gibson continues to impress as nuMichael. Just another reminder that Josh Griffith doesn't know how to write for talent. -- This Lucky goodbye is sad -- in all the wrong ways. It could not be more pathetic. There's no doubt in my mind that Valentini told the writers they had 3 days to write him out and to make it ugly. No one will miss JJ.

      We all have our picks
    • Teach me to post cocky about all these rampant relations! As for the cut, it just made Leo Howard look more stunningly handsome. There are guys I think are hotter, but he's got the prettiest face hands down.
    • Yes Arianna and Sami are blood related through Sami and Theresa. They are also adoptive/honorary related because Arianna's third.parent is Sonny, which makes Arianna and Tate related through Justin and Isabella.
    • I saw more about Biden Old or the staged feud between Elon and Trump or just the usual distractions, but I will admit I don't stomach most of the news anyway.
    • Figured it was something like that. It's just feels weird that Will came back to see John but he's not gonna be at his funeral but

They are blood related. Through Sami and Theresa. I didn't notice it last week, but it looked so fresh today. Like he got cut minutes before they started filming or something lol
    • Bill convinced the Governor to pardon Luna. Steffy was too busy badmouthing Hope & Brooke for most of the Spring to concern herself with such trivial matters.
