GL/ATWT: New Opening Sequences?

New Opening Sequences?

Does anybody know if the P&G Soaps will be getting a makeover and new theme songs and or opening visuals when the new year comes? If they are going to update their look with their new sets and everything to look like MTV's the Hills, the current openings may not fit very well. I think it would be cool to see GL with something different from the hands thing but if ATWT changes, we would have never seen the alternate versions with other cast members. Change is good though sometimes I guess!

Well, this can't be happening if the "we're so poor that we're collecting television welfare" spiel from P&G is true. I have come to appreciate the fact that GL's opening reflects the credo of the show, and not an exercise in vanity for the actors. ATWT has criminally excluded many veteran contract players from theirs for months, but I'd scrap performers and the golden haze for good if the globe would turn in space again.

Maybe GL will resurrect the opening that ran up until the 70th anniversary, the one that used clips from the show mixed with the CBS promo shoots and it was a montage type thing with a blue tinge...it was really nice and didn't run for long enough. That could be updated as I thought the one with the hands was only supposed to run for a year...has it been a year yet?

I think that they should use a fan opening. There's tons of professional openings that look amazing. One for example is this one:

And with ATWT, just update the character shots. The 6 second black background with no theme is just really dissapointing!

As far as I'm concerned, slideshows of stills only work for AMC, so I'm not quite on board with that one. But I do agree about fan ingenuity. There's a YouTuber named BigSingh who has kicked ass with amazing credit sequences for ATWT. I'm dying to see his take on an opening montage. See for yourself:

QUOTE (Chris B @ Dec 28 2007, 12:02 AM)
Ellen Wheeler said GL will get a new opening for the new year, but it will include elements of the current one. I'm not sure what's going on with ATWT. I think their opening is horrible and it's so odd that it debuted missing half of the cast.

Really!! I'll take anything over the hairy arms opening.

The only thing I like about the ATWT one is the music, there's something about it that I just love.

    • I would put Felicia in the 'small dose' auntie category because she means well, but comes on too strongly at times.  In small doses, she would be a blast to hang out with.. but in anything larger than a small... she would be exhausting. I tend to prefer lower key people than people that are always 'on' all the time.  Those people can veer off into energy vampire status pretty quickly.
    • I didn't like the Harry story, but Nazar did have a great introduction. He was probably the highlight of last year.  Now that you mention it, I guess the truly dire stories (Nicole, Harper/Drew/Phil, Nicole) didn't start until summer.
    • thank you all for contributing to the Vault. I am slowly getting towards watching the 1998 episodes

    • I pray⏤and I know it's a big prayer⏤that Noel Maxam is somehow able to figure things out budget-wise so we can stop re-dressing existing sets as "new" sets. I know in apartment buildings apartments can generally look the same, but I'm over it on this soap. The last time he was executive producer was in 2011 when the original Horton Town Square was introduced, and we had some other sets get introduced around this time (likely pre-commissioned prior to his election), but I'm trying to have some hope he can pull this off. Let's [finally] see it.
    • Definitely not the best of RC's breakdowns. I don't know what it says that I could pick up his trademarks yesterday 30 minutes in without even knowing that he did one. There was something more...quirky/boardstroked...about Dani. Though I love the Dani/Nicole scenes, she was just a little too hip?...which made me think back to the episode when she broke into Bill/Hayley's house. Then watching the episode later on, I saw Hayley was being used as a punchline to the more interesting and relevant Bill/Ted scenes (see you all were just talking about how you hoped they got scenes...one thing this show is great at...what people want on this board...they already have the foresight for it. The reason I feel the DNA test will get mentioned @Cheap21 in more detail). And then poor Anita reduced for the most part propping up an album.    Needless to say, not my favorite RC episode. And since we are in aftermath week, I just smh. And barely worth a rewatch. BUT...was there good for me?    Yes. Thankfully, we still got good aftermath beats regardless of the breakdown.   Like I said, I really like the Dani/Nicole scenes. But I love their dynamic. And I was looking forward to the shoe being on the other foot once the SilkPress storyline hit climax. Quirks aside, it did not disappoint. Dani came in, and she came in fierce for her sister. I loved her attacking Eva. And then her being surprisingly introspective about Nicole due to her own experience. No wonder Nicole reacted to her being self-aware. So did I.    Meanwhile Bill and Ted finally met up. I'm kinda sad that we did not get that sooner given the scenes that played out sidepiece in the background aside. It might have been interesting to see more of their status as non-Duprees coming into the family explored.    And of course I can't leave without mentioning Eva vs SilkPress Sheila which was the highlight. Both of them were giving. And SilkPress was just so cold with it. I did love that Eva finally stopped letting her gaslight her. Sad to see the duo break up. But I did love that she went to Ted. So...the next turn begins.   And speaking of turns...uh oh at Kat and Tomas. I'm sure he won't be staying away from her. So most definitely, Kat vs Eva ain't over. It will be interesting to see how it goes now that most people know that Kat was right all along.
    • Nah I enjoyed it much more last year because of the Harry plot that ended during that time. Nazar being introduced and them. But this time it is so lame and nothing I like forward to anymore and I’m one of them long time fans. Of course I would be upset if they would cancel it but maybe take a year off or two and return refreshed
    • came across this quote that provides some context: “It’s hard to escape the cultural reach of the Catholic Church when you live in the Western world. It is, for better or worse, one of the load-bearing walls of our civilization. Its influence wafts from the church into the streets of civic life, the courts, the schools, the arts.”
    • Yesterday's show:   Can they give Ambyr Michelle the Emmy for supporting actress already?   Truly enjoyed the episode from Leslie and Eva, Eva and Ted, Nicole and Dani to Anita and Nicole.
