ATWT: Andy Dixon Recast?

Forgive me if this had been posted already, but I found this on Van Hansis' board (http://z13.invisionfree.com/vanhansis/inde...?showtopic=4359):

So the latest rumors is that the show has decided not to recast Dusty, but to fill the void with a recast of Andy Dixon, who has been missing from the canvas for years. He'd be a love interest for Bonnie. For many, many years, Andy was played by Scott DeFreitas, who is married to Maura West (Carly). Now, there were rumors that when the show tried to recast Andy, Maura put her foot down and used some diva antics to get the recast squelched. Later, when Hogan was writing the show he wanted to bring SDF back back in a major storyline, but TPTB at the time, who never liked the actor, nixed the idea. Anyway, here's the actor that is rumored to possibly be playing NuAndy.

I think it's horrible the way Scott was treated, especially since he remains very popular with the fans. Why didn't they like him? I recall reading he wasn't hunky enough, but I thought he was good looking, a good actor and perfect for the role.

This recast will be yet another new character with a familar name. Lets hope he's better than nuChris, although that won't be too difficult. Charity Rahmer is better than nuChris.

The IMDB link is a dead link. ATWT should bring back Scott DeFrietas as Andy, and should re-cast Dusty as well, or bring back Brian Bloom as Dusty.

I'd rather see Scott De Freitas back for a short visit instead of letting a new guy play Andy for an extended period. Even if they found a "hunkier" actor, they'd probably subject Andy to the character assassination that almost every recasted part has suffered on Goutman's watch.

Sorry, the link should be working now...the actor's name is Michael McLafferty. It's sad that they treated Scott DeFreitas so badly. He was one of the best young actors on soaps. I think he's way too earthy, complicated, and VULNERABLE an actor to fit into the blank-slate, leading man soap mold. Word is he wouldn't even want to come back at this point.

Oh please god no! ATWT is *horrible* when it comes to recasts. Plus, they'd probably make Andy really unsavoury or something.

I liked Michael McLafferty from his short stint on GH. however, he looks more suitable for a Dusty re-cast to me. He might be good as Andy, I don't know. I'd rather see Scott DeFreitas back or someone who looked more similiar to Scott. As long as ATWT doesn't radically change Andy's personality, a recast may work. It may be DeFreitas's decision not to return since he's now in real-estate and he's enjoying that.

Yeah. As if this George Eads-alike would have anything in common looks-wise w/ Kathryn Hays' Kim or Larry Bryggman's Dr. John.

Yeah, IF he isn't swigging beers at Metro like he never spent a day in rehab. B)
