Wow. That. is. MURDER! I mean, it's bad, but that bad?

Yes, it is. It truly is. Thanks to the person who wrote it.

lol, I love when people who don't even watch soaps try to comment on the genre.

Yes, I love it, too. 'Cause it gives you an objective, outsider's perspective.

As for TV journalists in general, they tend to be disparaging of soaps, rather than takng the time to understand the genre.

As if it were Heidegger's Being and Time... Soaps are not quantum theory of fields.

ALL I have to say is that, after 40 years, and people still talking about the show - DAYS must be doing something GOOD!!!!!!! -

It's quite the opposite, actually!!!

I agree to an extent, but I always have to point out, that outside of its late 70's heyday, Days never particularly had a good reputation with the Emmy's.

No, not another DOOL Emmies post! :P

Wow harsh doesn't even describe that article. If she's not a fan, then why the freak is she writing about a show she CLEARLY hates?

It's my last one, I promise, Vincent Latham Lechowick. ;):P

And how can I reply rudely to that? Although, I have to point once more (and with feeling) that I'm not Vincent.

Oh, you make me tingled all over with joy, Y&RWorldTurner!:lol:

I watched three hours of Days and it was a hotchpotch of cliche dialogue that could have been pulled out of a hat; "Don't you die on me", "I don't know what I would have done without you", "I'm not going to let anything happen to you" and "You're here and you've got you memory back." If someone said, "You don't really know me" or "this is hurting me more that it's hurting you", I would have run around the room yelling "BINGO!" But kill me now is what I muttered as I finished a packet of Mint Slices to anaesthetise my self-hatred.

To be completely honest, on any given night, you're very likely to hear any of the bolded phrases in primetime.

Sorry, MichaelGL, have to disagree with you on that one. DAYS has always been known to hire models, not actors. This is why they almost never have actors or actresses nominated for Emmys. Any soap that would keep an over-the-top , scenery chewing ham as its lead actor (until recently) for years and years is not looking for quality.

Eh perhaps for the 90s.

Now that is not entirely true. Days has been like other soaps as far as that goes and actually has had a good run of casting decisions over the past few years. Martha Madison, Brandon Beemer, Rachel Melvin, Blake Berris, Shelley Hennig, etc. Days' casting of late has been some of the best in daytime and I doubt that is the reason why they have not received emmy nods. It's due to the politics, pure and simple. There have been plenty of times where Days deserved recognition for things that any other soap would've seen recognition for and in every circumstance they were ignored.

Phoenix, are you saying that DAYS doesn't have a reputation for hiring pretty people who can't act?

Not anymore then any other soap. Passions was and is by far the worst. Yes, Days has hired clunkers but so has everyone. I can name several from all the soaps but I don't want to get into actor bashing.

Days' casting has improved dramatically in the past 3 years and the show currently has one of the best casts in daytime IMO. The addition of Ed Scott has only further improved the quality of acting.
