QUOTE (Chris B @ Dec 17 2007, 08:38 PM)
Toups is the other writer a LML writer? If not, I'll trust your judgement! :) BTW, any idea if anyone on B&B went FiCore? Kay Alden and Brad Bell didn't sign that striking writers thing.

I doubt it's anyone LML related, since they all signed that list...

But yeah, come on Toups, not even a hint? ;)

I wonder if this person will pop up on the Y&R credits, since FiCore isn't technically considered to be scab writing...

I don't think Vincent Latham Lechowick signed the list! :P Imagine the horror! I really don't need any hints about the identity, I just wanna know if they'll be continuing on the same path, treading water or truly headwriting during the strike. Any info on that Toups? Y&R now is slower than it ever was with Bill Bell, I don't know how much more of this crap I can take. Especially Coma!Snorboria.

A poster on SOC is saying that the Bell Serial company wants Brad Bell to be executive producer of both B&B AND Y&R once the strike is over, but didn't say anything about him being head writer of Y&R. I doubt it's true though, but it's an interesting idea. Surely it will save money if the EP of both Bell soaps are the same person and I'm sure he'd be a better EP than Latham.

Well the Bells want it and so do I! It never made sense to me that Brad didn't have any role at Y&R when his father was so hands on! Of course, it was probably an issue with Sony which caused it or perhaps Brad felt that his friend Jack Smith would be fine at Y&R. Regardless I think it would be perfect if Brad was the EP of both shows and was HW at B&B but had someone else (Kay Alden) HW Y&R.

Y&R and B&B film across the hall from one another, and B&B only tapes 4 days a week. He'd definitely have adequate time to manage both shows. If he's coming on as EP only, he'd probably rehire old friends Jack F. Smith Kay Alden to write for the show. B&B by far has the best production values on daytime, something Y&R used to have, he'd probably restore some of the show aesthetic luster. As long as he doesn't write for Y&R, I think he could do an alright job as the show's EP. LOL!

Did you see? I hope this isn't a duplicate, as I can't get into the Writer/Director's thread yet.

Today's Y&R (12/26, US show) was written by Josh Griffith and......

Maria Arena BELL

That is shocking to me on so many levels. I'll post more in Writers/Directors, once I get in there....but I'm reeling.

Oh yes, I read your post in the Writer/Director's thread, it was great interpretation!

Today's Y&R had a positive apparent change to it. Some classic Y&R elements were added, which I'm sure will make long-time fans happy. The show used classical/string instrumentation as its background music, and not the soft-rock crappy msuic Latham had added for a while. Also, some classic Y&R directing traits were apparent, did you notice the close-up of the candles in the Abbott dining room before the scene between Jack and Sharon began? There was also the fade to black moments before every commercial break, which Latham took away for the most part.

It's not perfect, but from what I saw, it's definitely better than what we've been getting lately. I'm just glad that it looks like the Bell's are tightening their grip on Y&R again.

So Y&R appears to be the first soap to be Strike Episodes (no surprise with the way LML pulled things out of her a**!)

I think the rest of the soaps, with the exception of B&B, are going to be running out of Pre-Strike episodes by mid January.

B&B, and this is just a guess mind you, I think logged double the episodes of any other soap since it's a 30 minute show and during several points in the year doubling up on episodes is intentionally done so that the actors have a month or two off in the summer. I also think since it's a 30 minute show my bet is that there are twice the number of unshot scripts.

MARIA ARENA!?

THose memories; I intially thought of Thorne&Macy aka. Bobbie Ekes and Jeff Trachta singing... *swoon*

Good memories indeed; had no idea that hse is married to Bill Bell Jr. Now wonder they once wanted to sell a sopa to NBC called "Coming of Age" in 1993 or so... She's a classic soap writer and wrote lots of scripts back in the day or billing was different back, don't know. I definitely recall that name popping up in B&B's credits VERY often. So she'll have no trouble to work for Y&R.

Wonder who will write scripts for B&B come next month? My guess is Tracy Ann Kelly along with Kay Alden... Or they bring back Teresa Zimmerman although she always was rather mediocre.

In general I still hope for Bell in-house-solution and Brad Bell fullfilling WG demands so that Pa Mulcahey & Co. can resume their work.

Oh, okay. I'm having trouble getting into the W/D thread (among others) so I'm a little out of the loop. But I have been noticing, shall we say, unusual dialog the past couple of days so I knew something had to be up. Never in my life would I expect Sonny to say "You can take the girl out of Bensonhurst, but you can't take Bensonhurst out of the girl."

Are you kidding me?
