Hey, GH fans: Why so angry?My pal at TV guide, Michael Logan and I do not believe that women can physically "rape" men any more than people can come back from the dead or get a new head (I mean with a recast, no plastic surgery). So what? You are WELCOME to believe something else and to send your opinions to him and to me. But the fury and anger are severely misplaced.

First of all, if you don't like GH labeling Jax encounter with Irina 'cheating' then write to them, not to me. Second, there is a certain physical...thing...that has to happen to men so that they can have sex, which I just don't see happening when a Rocky and Bullwinkle style villian climbs on your lap with an Uzi after you've been beaten to a pulp. If Jax were a real person (!) he would have been more concerned with the ringing in his ears and getting some water than arousing himself for a cartoon villain.

Lastly, Soaps are pretend.So please don't threaten me and/or Michael because we stated our opinions about fictional stories. Thanks.

There's a double standard for male rape. I know Logan bitched about how no one blinks an eye when a woman is raped, but that rape never goes on for DAYS, with the victim bound, gagged, and handcuffed like male rapes do either. Ugh...*shiver* Jack's rape on ATWT was one of the most disgusting things ever. And the mags refused to call it rape. They actually put it in quotes---like it was misleading. "Rape". Any forced intercourse is RAPE. Idiots.

To Hinsey, GH can do no wrong, is anyone really surprised?

THat's pretty reprehensible--especially since I've seen her get plenty mad about things that happen on "pretend" soaps before, and now to complain about what obviouslyshe's getting a LOT of complaints about, and pass it off like it's merely people whining when they should be having fun? And when it's about something as volatile, and personal as sexual assault--what the [!@#$%^&*]? Just because it wasn't portrayed in a very realistic way doesn't make it more forgiveable--fi anythign the opposite should be true, right? Wow I mean if someone threatened her that's pretty idiotic and bad form but still... wow I severely hope she wrote this article while drunk or stoned and regrets that it made it to print. At the least someonw with her experience must knwo that the tone she decided to write the piece in would simply rile people more up. Idiot.

That's despicable, frightening and sad. Are we that far gone in our socity from everything emotion and humane that we (and yes, it's a soap, whatever) can't actually recongnize something this violent? Every day, it's in newspapers that rapists are getting as low as 1 month in jail and a fine of approx. $1000 dollars. I mean, it's insulting. There was a case where a father raped his daughter for over 10 years and he walked for no reason. It's frightening that as a community there's such a lack of understanding what rape does to someone. There's such a lack of sympathy. And that goes whether it's fictional or real because it has to do with reactions. You can't teach empathy, and the way this world is faring, there's a danger that people won't learn it because people don't show it. I've never been victimized sexually, thank god, but I'd like to think that I'm empathic enough to see how devestating and how far beyond the physical violation it goes.

This is disgusting. I can't believe that she said this. For the record, even in those circumstances that Jax was in, he CAN get aroused. It's not like he wants too, it just happens and he can't help it.

Honestly......Carolyn's comments are along the lines of a man saying the woman wanted to be rape because she was aroused. I know it's "only her opinion" but it's a disgusting opinion to have.

Wow. I know she is outspoken but she should have kept her mouth shut here. What she said was offensive to not only men who have actually been raped but women as well. It was rape plain and simple and it cant be dismissed as such bc she doesnt get it.
