September 3, 200718 yr Member Finally, some publication tells it how it really is: that the once great Y&R is nothing but a stinking piece of garbage. Contains a mini-spoiler (?) perhaps, anyhow: RANT OF THE WEEK: It’s official — Y&R worst soap on daytime!Does Y&R’s headwriter Lynn Marie Latham have any tricks up her sleeve other than killing off peripheral characters (Carmen, Will, and Plum)? This week, the hack kills off Ji Min (played by the promising Eric Steinberg) , yet no one really cares because Latham hasn’t invested any time building these backburner characters for viewers to care. Moreover, the heart and soul of this show has been sucked out by this vampire — we’re not exaggerating when we say we can’t force ourselves to watch this show. Quitting smoking is easier, folks. CBS needs to get involved with the Bell family because the classiest soap on daytime is now a horror show. William Bell is seriously rolling over in his grave!

September 3, 200718 yr Member Finally! Someone noticed how bad the soap got. I can't recognize the show anymore. We've been trying to make people notice that the original and amazing soap has turned into a horror show. And now finally someone noticed it.
September 3, 200718 yr Member I havent watched Y&R in over a week and I dont miss it. How sad is that?
September 3, 200718 yr Member I caught an episode the other day. It's a lifeless, unprofessionally written, silly mess. At least on the other (admittedly) flawed soaps there's usually something going for it - ATWT has Luke and Noah, OLTL has the Tommy McBain saga, GH has a host of hot stories, and even GL has Ashlee and Doris. Y&R has...nothing.
September 3, 200718 yr Member AMEN!!! Well said TV Guide. This is only going to fall on deaf ears, I'm afraid. I doubt anyone at CBS is going to do anything any time soon, unless LML really does something that Barbara Bloom really does not like.
September 3, 200718 yr Member In their 2006 year in review column, TV Guide Canada named Y&R as most disappointing show. With Bob Barker's retirement and all the changes at Y&R, I'm wondering what's going to happen to CBS daytime as a whole.
September 3, 200718 yr Member The article won't do much as long as the ratings are good. And sadly, they are good.
September 3, 200718 yr Member They are only "good" ratings by comparing it to the other shows ratings. Compare Y&R ratings to 5-10-15 years ago NOT so good anymore. They losing like everyone else just the bleeding hasn't been as bad. I haven't really watched Y&R in a month. I quit with that whole moronic Treasury agent mess happened.
September 3, 200718 yr Member I totally disagree about Y&R being the worst soap. That is definitely not true. I actually enjoy the show very much. LML has been the only writer to get me watching the show everyday.
September 3, 200718 yr Member I know Y&R is in a horrible state right now, but I hope ratings don't drop too much, because I'm worried it could have horrible effects on the rest of CBS daytime. CBS's ratings are already dropping much faster than ABC's, and I don't think they can afford to have their central show tank. Here's hoping they get a new HW soon, and things start looking up.
September 3, 200718 yr Member I hope all the soap magazines follow suit and in their year end lists, Y&R is ranked as the worst soap on television. That ought to be a serious meassge to those idiots at Sony and CBS. Edited September 3, 200718 yr by Y&RWorldTurner
